Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 980 Don't Make a Sound
Back in his room, Jiang Cheng began to prepare. He wasn't as relaxed as he seemed. Everyone targeted by Halsen had been killed, and Jiang Cheng wasn't confident he'd be an exception.
But if he wasn't confident, Fatty and Huai Yi were even less so. In conclusion, he, with Wu at his side, had a higher chance of survival.
Jiang Cheng also calculated in his mind that Wu hadn't acted many times. The two most direct instances were against the Rain Night Murderer and the Starving Ghost. The former was directly dismembered, and the latter had an arm chopped off. If Wu hadn't been distracted by saving someone, it was hard to say whether the Starving Ghost could have escaped.
Against those two, Wu had shown overwhelming dominance.
Thinking of this, Jiang Cheng's pale face gradually flushed. Jiang Cheng wasn't sure how strong Halsen was, but he shouldn't be much stronger than the Murderer and the Starving Ghost. Wu's strength lay in devouring; theoretically, he would only get stronger.
Jiang Cheng shifted his gaze to the shadow on the wall. Now there was only one problem left: how to summon Wu?
He tried everything, even poking the shadow on the wall, but the other party didn't respond at all. Jiang Cheng's forehead was covered in sweat. He knew that Wu had disconnected again.
Since it wasn't clear whether Wu could reconnect in time, Jiang Cheng still had to prepare to face Halsen himself. He looked around the room, trying to find a handy weapon, until his eyes caught sight of the chair.
Like the previous room, this was also an iron chair, covered with a layer of wood lacquer. It was heavy, and swinging it around was unrealistic. After thinking, Jiang Cheng dragged the chair near the door, hid behind the wall, and tried lifting the chair and smashing it down. It was quite smooth.
But thinking that his opponent was Halsen, Jiang Cheng rationally put the chair down again, sat on it, and sighed with a worried expression. If he relied on himself to hide behind the door and ambush Halsen, there were only two outcomes.
First, the ambush fails, Halsen kills him and drags him away.
Second, the ambush succeeds, he is killed and dragged away by Halsen.
The second outcome was only a little more dignified than the first, but Jiang Cheng didn't value that much. He was only thinking about how to survive.
He couldn't help but pick up the painting again, spread it on the table, and frowned slightly as he looked at it. Ever since he first saw this painting, he had felt an unspeakable sense of familiarity, but until now, he hadn't been able to figure out the source of the familiarity.
This feeling of being unable to exert his strength affected his mood, making him more and more irritable.
Fatty and Huai Yi sent messages, all of them concerned. They couldn't do anything else. Jiang Cheng comforted them not to worry, saying that he had a way to deal with it.
Scanning the clock in the room, Jiang Cheng reminded the two of them, "The time here is 3:19. Don't fall asleep before this time."
Whether he could solve Halsen or not, this was the only chance for Fatty and Huai Yi to get out.
After replying to Fatty's message, Jiang Cheng sent a message to Huai Yi. Huai Yi's time was earlier than his, and if there were no accidents, the Knocking Ghost would come to Huai Yi first.
"Remember, around 2:46, Fatty and I won't contact you. No matter what you see, or who you see, it's all an illusion." Jiang Cheng had fought the Knocking Ghost and knew its cunning, reminding him, "Just remember one thing: don't open the door no matter what!"
"Got it, Jiang-ge," Huai Yi replied.
After thinking for a moment, Jiang Cheng sent another message to Huai Yi, "You know Fatty, he has no malice, so don't take what he said before to heart."
"It has nothing to do with Fugui-ge, I was the one who said the wrong thing." Huai Yi's voice was full of frankness. "Jiang-ge, thank you and Fugui-ge for taking care of me during this time, so please be sure to live on!"
"I will, you be careful too." Jiang Cheng was concerned about Halsen, so he hurriedly ended the conversation.
The night was deep, Jiang Cheng turned on the lights in the room, and lit the candles as well. The bright environment slightly dispelled the haze in his heart. He sat on the made bed, staring at the door.
In the video, Halsen directly entered the room; whether the door was open or not was useless.
In a sense, Halsen was an unsolvable ghost. As long as he appeared at night, it meant that specific conditions had been met. After he appeared, he would definitely kill the person in the second room, without any restrictions.
The Murderer and the Starving Ghost couldn't do this.
Time passed by, Jiang Cheng frowned slightly. He kept recalling various clues in his mind, trying to combine different clues together.
As he thought, an unspeakable sleepiness came over him. Jiang Cheng swayed twice, and finally fell headlong onto the bed, losing consciousness.
After an unknown amount of time, Jiang Cheng woke up groggily. The moment he opened his eyes, he woke up completely. He didn't know when, but the lights and candles in the room had all gone out. At this moment, the room was shrouded in a layer of gray.
His first reaction was to take out his phone to check the time.
But when he turned on his phone, strange things happened. The location on the phone that displayed the time seemed to have been marked out with a marker, turning into a black patch.
"Is this Halsen's ability?" Jiang Cheng carefully scanned the surroundings.
He picked up a prepared candle and quickly lit it. With the light, his heart was slightly more at ease. In order to judge whether he was currently in an illusion, he even touched the flame of the candle with his hand.
So hot!
But hot was right.
At this moment, Jiang Cheng suddenly had a strange feeling, as if time had frozen at this moment. He was now in a space forgotten by time.
"Dong."
"Dong."
…
Before he could think about it, an unprovoked knock broke the silence of the night. Jiang Cheng's heart clenched. It wasn't related to fear. He couldn't understand why there was a knock?
"Who is knocking?" Too much information flooded into Jiang Cheng's mind at once. A feeling of being hungover was constantly interfering with his thinking. "Is it the Knocking Ghost? But how could it be? He's clearly ranked second. The one who should be looking for him is Halsen. But from the previous video, Halsen doesn't have the habit of knocking."
As he was thinking, his eyes inadvertently noticed another anomaly. His shadow actually appeared on the wall, the wall in front of him, and the candle he was holding was located between him and the shadow!
How is this possible?!
Then, in his shocked eyes, the shadow slowly raised its hand, stretched out a finger, and pointed to the lower half of its face.
Jiang Cheng looked at the shadow's scarlet eyes, and his face gradually changed from tension to excitement. Finally, he almost rushed up to give it a hug. He recognized it. Wu had woken up. This guy always appeared at just the right time. Jiang Cheng even suspected that he was doing it on purpose.
And Wu's actions also conveyed a message to Jiang Cheng: Don't make a sound.
