Chapter 134 Feast in the Flames

Chapter 134 Feast in the Flames

Shirley's fighting style was as simple and brutal as ever.

Simple, crude, effective, with a sense of unrestrained freedom like a tengu soaring through the sky – the iron chains whistled, and all were equal before them.

The bizarre figure that had leaped through the shadows probably hadn't expected that this "summoner girl" with a dark demon was essentially a close-combat fighter – according to normal thinking, closing the distance and engaging in melee combat at the first sign of a casting class was definitely the right choice, but it was another matter when you closed the distance and suddenly found that the caster had pulled out a meteor hammer. Thus, a scene Duncan had seen before played out again:

The iron chain creaked, and Shirley smashed down with her signature move. The black shadow was hit squarely, making a loud "bang," and flew out almost with a whistling sound!

With a "boom," the figure was directly smashed into a nearby building with lingering flames, raising a cloud of rising smoke and sparks, and then there was no movement.

"Is that it?" The smoothness of the battle was unexpected. Even Shirley herself didn't react. She held A-Gou in one hand while looking into the distance, her face full of vigilance. "I feel like the feedback…"

Before she could finish, A-Gou's exclamation suddenly rang out from the other end of the iron chain: "Careful!"

Shirley's muscles tensed instantly. The next moment, she finally noticed that the shadow at her feet had become a little darker than before. Then, a blurry "whip" with an indistinguishable outline shot out from the shadow!

The black whip lashed out with a fierce sound, heading straight for Shirley's neck. At the critical moment, she suddenly dodged forward but was still hit on the underside of her arm, and blood splattered everywhere.

A-Gou clicked her tongue, not caring about the pain at all. As she slowly retreated, she finally saw that a part of her shadow had been left in place, and the strange, thin woman holding an umbrella rapidly emerged from this shadow. She then saw what the "whip" that had hit her really was – a "limb" extending from the hem of the other party's clothes!

The shadow seemed to be wrapped in thick smoke, with constantly squirming and deforming flesh rolling inside, seemingly in a constant state of decay and rebirth, making one feel nauseous and horrified.

Shirley only glanced at the tentacle-like limb and felt a wave of nausea surging from the bottom of her heart. The next moment, she heard the strange woman with the umbrella emit a low, muffled gurgle, and the bizarre "limb" extending from the hem of her clothes turned into a long whip again, lunging towards her face.

She subconsciously raised the chain in her hand, preparing to swing the spirit body again, but at that moment, a ghostly green flame suddenly appeared at the edge of her vision.

The moment the ghostly green flame appeared, she noticed that the thin figure opposite her suddenly paused, as if some kind of instinctive fear had suddenly restrained her movements. The next moment, the figure quickly retreated, and thick white smoke billowed above the white umbrella. Low and blurred roars were constantly heard from within, and the green flames spread out almost brushing the edge of the smoke. In the faint light of Duncan's fire, the white smoke above the umbrella was tinged with a pale color.

Shirley subconsciously glanced in Duncan's direction, and she saw that he was just standing there quietly, but phantom-like flames were constantly spreading out from him. Wherever the flames went, whether it was the surrounding buildings or the sparks floating in the air, even the silhouettes of the nearby buildings, all began to gradually be dyed with a layer of ghostly green!

It was as if some kind of spreading plague was gradually infecting everything in its path!

Was this the power of that great being? Or just the tip of the iceberg of his power?!

A-Gou's heart was filled with surprise and doubt, but before she could think about it, the slowly retreating attacker was obviously suppressed and shocked by the spirit fire in the surrounding environment. Following the principle of not holding back in a fight, A-Gou took advantage of the opponent's weakness and swung the chain in her hand again, using all her strength to smash the dog onto the attacker!

The feedback felt even stranger than before, transmitted through the spirit body's senses. A-Gou felt as if she had hit a pile of rotten flesh. She saw that the figure with the white umbrella was directly shattered by her blow. Accompanied by a nauseating tearing sound, the thing's white "outer shell" fell apart, and several lumps of amorphous flesh wrapped in thick smoke fell out of the clothes. Then, as if each had its own will, they began to run around, and while scurrying, they continued to coalesce into larger fragments.

Innumerable overlapping sharp cries came from inside each fragment!

It was an absolutely terrifying and bizarre scene – charred and twisted alien limbs were torn apart, squirming, coalescing, and fleeing in the streets with lingering embers. Sharp cries that seemed to pierce mortal reason rose and fell, and as these fragments continued to dissipate, they became more and more numerous and bizarre. In the end, it even seemed as if the whole world was filled with "their" ear-piercing, shrill screams!

For the first time since the fight began, A-Gou felt a chill down her spine. She tightly gripped the chain in her hand, not knowing how to use her usual "tactics" to deal with those screaming fragments that were still constantly coalescing and squirming, but very quickly, she noticed that the scattered fragments did not intend to continue fighting – they were fleeing in unison.

They were fleeing from the still spreading green flames.

Now they had coalesced into hundreds of thousands of fragments, squirming and fleeing through the streets like a swarm of white insects, frantically fleeing towards the distance of the street between the gaps in the green flames. Some fragments were constantly being "captured" by Duncan's fire in the distance – merely a careless brush, or even just being touched by a spark, and flames would immediately spread over them, instantly burning them through!

But the burning was not the end, but just the beginning – the fragments burned by Duncan's fire did not die, but suddenly turned around and began to hunt, attack, and gnaw on those flesh fragments that had not yet escaped the fire and had not been touched by the green flames.

Everything happened very quickly. In almost half a minute, half of the flesh fragments scattered and fleeing in the streets had been burned and infected by Duncan's fire. These green flame-infected flesh coalesced bodies were hunting the "compatriots" of the previous second everywhere, and a faint green fire wall was closing at the end of the street, completely blocking all escape routes.

The fire field had become a hunting ground, and the hundreds of fragments coalesced from the same white-clothed attacker had turned into a swarm of insects fighting to the death. The continuous screams finally gradually stopped, but what replaced them was an even more chilling sound –

It was the sound of chewing that permeated the entire street.

The attacker tried to escape by dismembering, and now he had become his own feast.

A-Gou felt goosebumps all over her body, and she could feel her spirit body shivering. She trembled slightly in the street covered with scorching ashes, but the next moment, she felt a cool hand on her shoulder.

"Don't be afraid," Shirley said softly, comforting A-Gou, "Bugs are most afraid of fire."

A-Gou's shoulder twitched, and an extremely strange feeling arose in her heart. The sense of security of being favored and comforted by a powerful existence and the chill of being stared at by an indescribable thing were mixed together. She plucked up her courage and looked at Shirley next to her, but saw that she was frowning tightly.

"To be honest, it's a bit disgusting," Shirley said to A-Gou from the bottom of her heart, looking at the "swarm" that was preying on each other, "I didn't expect it to turn out like this."

  Who would believe that!

"Y-yes...indeed..." A-Gou cowardly said that she believed it, whatever the boss says is whatever, "It's a bit disgusting..."

"Fortunately, it's almost over," Shirley said with a slightly relaxed tone.

  It was almost over.

The sound of flames spreading and predation on the street was gradually stopping. Both the predators and the prey were finally running out of vitality, turning into piles of ashes scattered by the wind. The bizarre attacker had turned into nothing, and the Duncan's fire that was spreading everywhere also began to gradually retract and disappear.

A-Gou finally swallowed at this time. She looked at the small, scattered piles of ashes and asked boldly, "Is it...all over?"

But Shirley shook her head: "...Not necessarily."

A-Gou looked at Shirley in surprise and doubt, but saw that she was walking forward. The last fragment from the attacker crawled out of the pile of ashes in the distance. It was a shapeless, hateful flesh, swaying and squirming. It seemed to want to escape, but stopped after only a few steps.

Shirley stopped in front of the fragment, bent down, and a little green flame danced between her fingers.

"I've heard many terrifying and bizarre stories, and those stories tell me an experience," Shirley said slowly. She was explaining to A-Gou, "If you suddenly find that your enemy has the ability to coalesce, then you better assume that the first enemy you encounter is just a coalesced body - always assume that there is a main body hidden behind the coalesced body, used by bad authors to write sequels."

She pointed her finger and placed the green flame on the surface of the last fragment.

"I don't like sequels, and I don't like having a inexplicable main body hiding behind the scenes, waiting to jump out and stab people when the protagonists are careless."

The green flames burned fiercely. The dirty fragment suddenly trembled, and then, many structures like insect legs grew out from its bottom, supporting it to stand up unsteadily.

Shirley slowly stood up and quietly watched the last remaining fragment of the attacker.

  "Go home, take my gift."
