She had been neglected by him for so long, yet she was still unaccustomed to his sudden ardor. Her mind in a whirl, she said, "I'm uncomfortable being wet. Let's take a bath first."
However, Tianyi ignored her words and kissed her.
This fervent, demanding kiss left her somewhat overwhelmed.
Just as she finally managed to break free and catch her breath, she saw the deep love and tenderness in his eyes. Before she could speak, his kiss descended again.
She no longer insisted on bathing first, surrendering herself without reservation, passionately reciprocating his deep affection.
After their lingering embrace, Susu leaned into his arms, feeling a profound sense of security only when he was by her side.
Listening to his steady breathing, she noticed he was no longer stirring and wondered if he had fallen asleep.
"Tianyi, are you asleep?" she whispered, shifting slightly in his embrace.
Tianyi grunted in response, "Almost asleep. What is it? Still not satisfied? Want to go again?"
Susu playfully punched his arm, "You're never serious."
"Then why aren't you sleeping?"
"I met Jia Nanfang. She admitted to harming many people before. My father's fiancée, my grandmother, and Shu Zhenhao's mother were all killed by her. She's had so much plastic surgery that she's unrecognizable, a truly terrifying sight that gives me nightmares."
Tianyi held her tighter and said, "I know. Officer Su told me. An Jing also keeps talking about Xiaoxiao to me. I think he wants to adopt the child. As for Jia Nanfang, she got what she deserved. People are like that, one thought away from heaven, one thought away from hell. In fact, during those most difficult days when I lost my mother and was abroad, I almost fell into hell. Fortunately, An Jing was there for me then."
Susu felt a pang of sympathy for him and hugged him tightly, sighing, "An Jing is truly your best friend."
Tianyi nuzzled her forehead with his chin and said with the wisdom of experience, "Sometimes, a person's choices are made in an instant. If someone positive and supportive is around to guide you and offer warmth, perhaps life would be completely different. An Jing and his son are still grateful for my help during their most difficult financial times, but in reality, I am the one who should be grateful."
"This is what you call mutual support. There's no need for constant thanks; it makes you feel like strangers," Susu replied. "Yes, An Jing is married now, and Lan Yu is so gentle and virtuous. It would be wonderful if they could adopt Xiaoxiao."
"You, always worrying about everything," Tianyi said, pinching her nose affectionately. "An Jing must want to, but it depends on whether his wife agrees."
"I bet you, Lan Yu will definitely agree."
"Bet what? You are entirely mine, what do you have to bet with me?" Tianyi said possessively.
"Hate you," Susu huffed, trying to turn over in his arms.
He held her firmly, preventing her from moving, and said, "Let me tell you something important. The second phase of the amusement park, which Aoxiang previously partnered with the Shu Corporation on, is preparing for a trial operation. There will be an event before the official opening, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, entertainment, and a reception. You must represent the Shu Corporation. After all, you are the president of the Shu Corporation now."
"It's just a nominal title," Susu leaned against him. "You know I've never liked these kinds of events. You handle everything, so why don't you attend?"
"Believe it or not, I won't help you manage the Shu Corporation anymore. I'll hand it all over to you," Tianyi insisted, not letting her refuse.
Susu finally relented, "Alright, alright, I'll go. I'll put in my best effort and join forces with you to bring good luck to the amusement park's second phase."
Tianyi tapped her forehead and held her close, saying, "That's more like it. Don't slack off whenever you get a chance. Go to sleep."
"Okay, okay, I wouldn't dare. Goodnight." Susu closed her eyes, feeling more peaceful and secure than she had in a long time.
After the storm passed and the skies cleared, Susu's mood was as bright and sunny as the weather.
On the day Tianyi mentioned the amusement park event, she went to the Shu Corporation early and arranged to attend the event with Uncle Xu.
This was the first time she had formally sat in the president's office since taking over the Shu Corporation. It had been preserved exactly as it was when Shu Zhongze was there; no one had touched or altered it.
She sat in the chair her father had occupied, looking at the photos on his desk. One was a group photo of her father in his youth with his fiancée and the elderly lady.
In the photograph, all three people were radiant. Although the elderly lady had white hair, her smile was bright, her eyes curved into arcs, and her youthful, unparalleled charm was still evident.
Her father's fiancée had a relaxed expression and a gentle smile, leaning against her father like a little bird.
Her father, dressed in a well-fitting suit, bore no traces of age, exuding a handsome, sophisticated, and slightly roguish charm.
This photo captured her father's most beautiful years.
She then looked at another photo on the side, a picture of her father with her and her three children. She couldn't recall when this photo was taken or even having it.
It seemed to have been taken casually, and the photo wasn't very clear, yet her father had framed it and placed it on his desk to look at every day.
Regret washed over her again. Why hadn't she forgiven him sooner? Why hadn't she been kinder to him earlier and acknowledged him sooner? Perhaps then she could have learned about his illness earlier and gotten him surgery sooner.
But there was no medicine for regret in this world. Some people and some things, once missed, are missed forever.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Susu said, "Please come in."
Uncle Xu entered, respectfully saying, "Young Miss, you've finally arrived. Several senior executives outside wish to see you."
"Uncle Xu, has anything happened in the group?" Susu asked.
"No, no, everything is fine," Uncle Xu replied. "Although President Qin doesn't visit often, he handles any difficult matters effectively."
"That's good. I don't wish to see anyone else. Please tell them that we can all gather at the annual meeting," Susu declined.
She wasn't very good at handling the complex relationships within a corporation and feared that doing something wrong might cause trouble for Tianyi.
Uncle Xu nodded, went out to convey her message, and returned to the office.
"Uncle Xu, has this office always been kept clean? It's spotless," Susu asked.
Uncle Xu nodded and said, "Yes. Although President Shu is no longer here, and you don't visit often, some of the older staff still miss President Shu's time and have people clean here daily. Also, President Qin, when he comes, doesn't use this office; he works in an empty conference room, saying that only you, Young Miss, are qualified to sit in this office."
Susu was slightly taken aback. It turned out that while Tianyi was managing the Shu Corporation for her, he was also maintaining her position within the company.
"Thank you, Uncle Xu," Susu said with a smile. "Let's keep this office as it is. I will come here often from now on."
