Chapter 1259 A Maiden Like a Flower

Her father, assuming she would go back to rest, re-entered the hospital room.

As Daisy was lost in thought, wanting to sit for a while longer, her phone rang. It was Qin Tianyi.

At this late hour, what could Qin Tianyi want with her?

Before she could speak, Qin Tianyi anxiously asked, "Daisy, is Susu with you? Where are you?"

"No," Daisy replied. "Susu left around five this afternoon. I thought she went home."

"But she messaged me at five saying your family had some trouble and she'd be at the hospital until late," Tianyi said, confused.

Daisy stated with certainty, "Susu left the hospital at five. I won't be mistaken about that."

"Where would she go?" Tianyi asked in a low voice.

Daisy couldn't help but worry. "Oh, when she left, she told me she was going to the studio to handle some things. Could she still be at the studio?"

"Okay, I understand."

Before Daisy could say anything else, Tianyi had already hung up.

She immediately dialed Susu's phone, only to find it turned off. No matter how many times she called, it remained off.

If Susu were at the studio, and her phone ran out of battery, charging it should be easy. It wouldn't be turned off.

She, too, became anxious.

...

Tianyi immediately called her office landline at the studio, but no one answered.

He then called Xu Shishi.

Xu Shishi answered the phone, sounding sleepy, clearly about to go to bed. "Hello."

"Xiao Xu, did Susu come to the company to work overtime today?" Tianyi asked anxiously.

Xu Shishi replied, sounding surprised, "Mr. Qin, Sister Gu hasn't been to the studio all day. I left around seven this evening, and I didn't see Sister Gu. She didn't contact me either."

"I see," Tianyi said, hanging up. He held his phone, thinking of other friends Susu might have.

He didn't care if it was too late, and asked all of Susu's friends he knew. No one knew where Susu was.

Now, the only thing he could think of was that Susu was in trouble!

...

Meanwhile, the Huangfu family had not yet realized that Huangfu Shaohua was in trouble.

Around six or seven in the evening, the bodyguard responsible for protecting Huangfu Shaohua had contacted Wu Xiufang, saying that Huangfu Shaohua would be working overtime at the company all night and that they should leave and return to protect him in the morning.

Wu Xiufang had agreed, thinking it was a good thing that Shaohua was finally willing to put in the effort for the company's affairs.

Before going to bed that night, she informed Huangfu Sisong about how hard their son was working, saying, "Shaohua told me he's working overtime at the company all night. This child is truly dedicated to his work now."

Huangfu Sisong frowned in confusion. "His department doesn't have many projects lately. What is there to work overtime for? Besides, I want him to be an heir, not a laborer. If there's anything unfinished, he should just hand it over to his subordinates. Why does he need to work overtime himself?"

Wu Xiufang felt he had a point and couldn't help but worry that Huangfu Shaohua was just being impulsive. She said, "Yes, this child should learn more about managing employees, instead of doing everything himself. I'll call him and tell him not to work overtime and to come back to rest early."

As she spoke, Wu Xiufang was about to contact Shaohua.

Huangfu Sisong picked up his own phone and stopped her. "Let me teach him. There are too many things he needs to learn."

Wu Xiufang smiled and came to his side, seeing that he was going to call his son personally. "Fortunately, your health is still good, and you're getting younger. You have plenty of time to teach your son."

Huangfu Sisong hugged her, a smile on his face. "Young? My hair is getting whiter and whiter. It's almost all white."

"In my eyes, you'll always be young," Wu Xiufang said with a smile.

Huangfu Sisong pinched her chin, recalling the time they first met. She was still a beautiful young girl, though her clothes were very plain.

He had wondered where the Wu family had found such a beautiful young maid, only to later discover she was their long-lost daughter.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked, seeing Huangfu Sisong staring at her without speaking, and added self-deprecatingly, "Don't look anymore. I'm old too. I'm nowhere near as good-looking as those young actresses."

"Don't believe those gossip magazines. I've done nothing wrong," Huangfu Sisong said, looking at his phone and avoiding her gaze.

Wu Xiufang changed the subject. "Call your son. Don't let him be foolish and just work himself to death."

She knew in her heart that a man with his power wouldn't be completely innocent. Whether the gossip was true or false, she wouldn't take it seriously.

Now, she believed no woman could threaten her position in the Huangfu family.

Just as Huangfu Sisong was about to call Shaohua, his phone vibrated.

Someone had sent him a picture. After he opened it, he froze.

Wu Xiufang, seeing him as if he were petrified, asked, "Why aren't you calling Shaohua yet?"

"He's been kidnapped," he said, showing her the photo on his phone.

The photo showed Huangfu Shaohua bound, with blood at the corner of his mouth, looking in pain.

Wu Xiufang was shocked and immediately shook her head. "No, it can't be! Four bodyguards were protecting him during the day. He wouldn't be kidnapped. He must be at the company. This photo is fake. Someone wants to extort money from us!"

Huangfu Sisong calmly first dialed Shaohua's number, but it showed the phone was off.

He immediately asked his assistant to go to Shaohua's office to see if he was there, so they could figure out what was going on.

While waiting, Wu Xiufang contacted the bodyguards who had protected Shaohua that day again. They confirmed that he hadn't left his office before they left.

However, a short while later, Huangfu Sisong's assistant replied that Shaohua was not working overtime in his office at all. Apart from the night security guards, there was no one else in the company.

Wu Xiufang was stunned. Could Sheng Haoguang have kidnapped Shaohua?

She took Huangfu Sisong's phone and sent a message to the number that sent the photo, asking, "Who are you?"

Huangfu Sisong snatched the phone back, thinking she was too impulsive. "Don't talk directly to the kidnappers. Call the police first."

"We can't call the police! What if they kill him?" Wu Xiufang was completely losing her composure. As long as Shaohua could be saved, she didn't care. "Let's see what conditions the kidnappers have. If it's just about money, we'll give them money."

"No. We don't know who did this or their background. What if they are untrustworthy desperadoes? What if they take the money and still kill him?" As he spoke, Huangfu Sisong dialed the police.

Wu Xiufang couldn't stop him. This was also a way to save Shaohua.

But if the police got involved, there were many things she wouldn't be able to hide anymore.

They quickly changed their clothes and went to Shaohua's office at the Huangfu Group.

Before the police arrived, the couple had already retrieved the surveillance footage from the company.

Wu Xiufang was extremely flustered, unable to understand where things had gone wrong. It wasn't until she saw the surveillance footage around Shaohua's office that she understood how Shaohua had managed to evade the bodyguards and leave the office first.
