Cheng Cheng and the Cicada
Epilogue Author's Note
Actually, I wrote a lot in the ending remarks, more than 4,000 words.
But after writing it, I realized that it was basically all my reflections and summaries of my creative methods and the mistakes I made during writing. These are valuable experiences for me, but for readers, they are obscure and boring debates, so I might as well delete them all.
From the reader's point of view, looking back at the past 300,000 words, the problems are huge, and the reading experience is very bad. It's not good at all.
Yes, it's not good, and it's not comfortable to read.
Because this is the first book the author has written after switching websites and styles, so naturally, I have taken many detours.
But these detours are ones I would have to take sooner or later. It doesn't matter much to me personally. After all, this is my first book on Qidian, and it is an experiment for trial and error. I didn't expect to achieve any results.
It's just that those readers who have been following the updates have suffered a lot, and the author deeply apologizes here.
In fact, I personally suggest that you let it sit for a while, or even wait until it's finished before reading it. Anyway, regardless of whether anyone reads this book or not, the author will finish writing it according to the original plan, so you can wait until it's finished and then read it, or just skip to the end and read the ending.
It doesn't matter if you forget about it. Reading online novels is just for recreation. There are many good books, so it doesn't matter if you miss this one.
In the book review section of this book, there are surprisingly many negative reviews. Many people have suggested to the author to set a fan value limit for speaking, because there are too many malicious negative reviews.
But the author thinks it's okay.
Because first of all, everyone's words make a lot of sense. This book does have a lot of problems.
Secondly, these negative reviews are also rare treasures for future creations.
When I start my second book, I will read these massive negative reviews from beginning to end first. I think I will take fewer detours in the second book.
Many book fans are worried that the author's mentality will explode from facing so many negative reviews every day...
Of course not~
The author is already in his thirties. I have experienced many ups and downs in life. In the middle-aged world where social circles are shrinking, being scolded by someone every day is actually the same experience as being praised by someone every day. It means that someone cares about you and someone is paying attention to you.
As of now, the author has run out of manuscripts for this book.
I can't judge whether writing a large number of manuscripts is an advantage or a disadvantage for online writing, but I think for an author like me whose writing is already verbose, it may be more of a disadvantage than an advantage.
So.
Next, we will enter the serious "serialized" stage. I think I still need to improve on the many problems that everyone has raised.
The first is the slow pace, unsatisfying feeling, and filler content. I will try to improve in this area.
The second is the slow plot progression, the protagonist's weakness, and the strong sense of frustration. I will think about how to solve these problems.
Finally, I will also find time to study how other excellent works handle the shortcomings in character shaping, dialogue, and description.
Starting from the second volume.
The author will work hard to improve the problems everyone has raised, but because there are no manuscripts, the daily updates can only be changed from [three updates to two updates]. Please forgive me for this, because quality must be guaranteed first.
Moreover, with the problem of filler content being eliminated and the plot becoming tighter, the experience of two updates may be much better than the previous three updates.
The update time will still remain the same, with two chapters released in one go at six o'clock in the afternoon.
The second volume is titled "The Sad Man."
It is taken from the work of the science fiction master He Xi, which is a very beautiful short story. Those who are interested can take a look.
Different from the hard science fiction stories written by Liu Cixin, He Xi's works are mostly based on humanistic soft science fiction, which is quite charming to read.
