Honey Pomelo

Chapter 43 Clothes Make the Man

"That robe is no longer needed; they've sent you a new set of clothes from the manor!"

Chuntao said as she presented a box.

"Even the clothes are ready?"

Han Mo was genuinely surprised.

This made him even more certain. It seemed the person he was going to meet today was truly extraordinary. Could he be this lucky?

If he could indeed meet that "Calligraphy and Painting Emperor" and leave a good impression on him, it would be immensely beneficial for his future career.

Even a foolish monarch had his advantages. Han Mo was pressed for time. If he couldn't climb to a sufficiently high position before the great changes arrived, then everything he was doing now would likely be like reflections in a mirror or the moon in the water.

"Alright, leave the clothes, and you can go out for now!"

After opening the box and glancing at the clothes inside, Han Mo disdainfully curled his lips.

His cheap great-uncle was certainly willing to spend money. Judging by the fabric alone, these garments were definitely not cheap!

"Alright then..."

Hearing Han Mo's words, Chuntao turned and left with a hint of disappointment.

Watching the young girl's wronged back, Han Mo almost burst into laughter. This little girl was truly sharp for her age.

"Aren't you going to step out?"

The girl had left, but Cai Wei, who was sitting on the bed, showed no intention of moving.

"What's there to step out for? It's not like we haven't seen it before," Cai Wei said dismissively.

"That makes sense!"

Han Mo spoke as he began to undress.

"You scoundrel!"

Seeing Han Mo start to undress, the woman suddenly covered her eyes.

"Didn't you just say it's not like we haven't seen it before?"

Han Mo curled his lips dismissively. He had thought she was sophisticated, but it turned out to be all a facade.

"Change in the outer room!" the woman said crossly.

"Why? This is my room! You're injured, but you're not incapable of moving. If you don't go out, I'll change right here!" Han Mo said with a straight face, struggling to suppress his laughter.

"Rogue!"

Although her teeth itched with hatred, the woman still turned and walked out.

"Peeking at others change clothes will give you eyesores!"

"Who wants to peek at yours!"

Hearing the woman's angry reply, Han Mo finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Whistling a tune, he approached the secret compartment by the bedside again.

After carefully checking the mechanism of the secret compartment, confirming there were no signs of it being opened or tampered with, he cautiously opened it.

Seeing that the ledger wrapped in erotic paintings was still lying there obediently, Han Mo finally relaxed.

It seemed the woman hadn't thought of this place. After carefully restoring everything, Han Mo plucked a strand of hair from his head and carefully placed it in the seam of the secret compartment.

Fortunately, he had been here for over three months; otherwise, wearing these clothes would have been quite troublesome.

The outfit prepared by Han Jiayan for him was extremely luxurious, made entirely of fine cotton from the inside out.

With a round collar and wide sleeves, it indeed made him look much more distinguished.

His appearance was already outstanding, and with this formal robe, he exuded an ethereal aura.

It was a pity there were no mirrors or phones at the moment; otherwise, Han Mo would have loved to take a selfie.

"Second Brother, are you dressed?"

Just as Han Mo was admiring himself, Chuntao suddenly called from outside.

"I'm done, come in!"

Han Mo tidied his hair and casually replied.

Chuntao had been somewhat disappointed, but seeing that the woman was quickly driven out as well, that disappointment was immediately forgotten.

Even after spending so much time with Han Mo, she couldn't help but be momentarily stunned when she saw him wearing this formal attire.

"How is it? Does it look good?"

Seeing the little girl's dumbfounded expression, Han Mo smiled and asked.

"It looks good! Like someone from a painting!"

The little girl's eyes shone brightly as she nodded repeatedly.

"This hair is too troublesome; you help me with it!"

While the clothes were good-looking, the hat on top was a bit tricky.

It was difficult to manage alone, especially for a novice like Han Mo; getting dressed was almost like undergoing torture.

"Hehehe, Second Brother, I think you can wear this every day from now on!"

The little girl chuckled as she nimbly handled Han Mo's hair.

"Once in a while is enough; these clothes are too much trouble to wear."

Han Mo said, curling his lips.

These loose, wide-sleeved clothes were not very suitable for him. Although they gave him a different temperament, they made moving around quite difficult.

Hearing his words, the little girl didn't say much. After expertly arranging his hair, she even brought a bronze mirror for him to look at.

"Forget it, forget it, let's not look. We should hurry over there!"

They had been notified early in the morning, so Han Mo couldn't afford to delay any longer.

Meeting the emperor today was a rare opportunity for him.

However, he was still a bit unfamiliar with the etiquette of meeting the emperor. With time still on his hands, he should go to Han Jiayan's place early to get some pointers.

For a foolish monarch like Emperor Huizong, his actions often relied entirely on his own whims.

If he accidentally offended him, it would truly be an injustice worse than that of Dou E.

"Aren't you eating?"

Seeing Han Mo hurry out, the little girl quickly asked.

"No need. They have better food at the manor. I'll bring you something delicious back tonight!"

Han Mo said, laughing heartily as he walked out.

When people from the manor came to invite him early in the morning, Xu Sanbao naturally didn't dare to be negligent.

He had his son prepare a carriage early in the morning, waiting outside Han Mo's courtyard.

"Young Master, my father sent me to take you to the manor!"

As soon as Han Mo stepped out, he saw Xu Fengnian's smiling face.

"Please thank your father for me later. Let's go!"

This was expected, and Han Mo was not overly polite.

Upon arriving at the Princess's manor, Han Mo immediately noticed something was amiss.

Although he didn't come here often, he immediately noticed today that almost all the servants, from the inside out, had been replaced.

It seemed his guess was correct. Han Mo was now a little excited. Was he really going to meet the emperor like this?
