Chapter 673 The One Who Asked for a Meal Arrived

Tan Yawen was full of confidence.

Entertainment-related matters were trivial for Director Zhang to handle.

He himself had not violated any regulations; every television series and film had been released normally.

There had been no vulgar content, and no stars with prior violations in any of the released movies.

Therefore, Tan Yawen was not worried at all. He only needed to lament his woes to Director Zhang.

After all, Director Zhang was a righteous person. He wouldn't stand by and watch someone use their power to suppress his company, as that would be an unfair business competition practice.

Besides, taking down a well-made movie required a reasonable explanation, didn't it?

Without a valid reason, to have his company's film removed from release, who wouldn't feel indignant?

Upon hearing Tan Yawen's words, the vice president on the other end of the phone felt a slight sense of relief.

He did own a small stake in the company, and if the company faced problems, he would be greatly affected.

It was just that he had no other choice, as all ownership rights were held by Tan Yawen.

Furthermore, Tan Yawen had an excellent network of connections, so only he could handle this matter.

“Mr. Tan, your words have put my mind at ease,” the vice president said with a sigh of relief.

“Don’t worry, just wait for my call. For now, keep the company stable and prevent any internal discord,” Tan Yawen consoled him.

“Alright, Mr. Tan, you go ahead. You can rest assured about the company’s affairs,” the vice president nodded in agreement.

“Good, contact me if anything comes up.”

After they hung up, Tan Yawen asked the two junior secretaries who accompanied him to make him a cup of tea and patiently waited for Director Zhang’s arrival.

Tan Yawen had already ordered all the dishes, so the waiters could serve them immediately, ensuring Director Zhang would have a hot meal without any delay.

If dishes were served one by one, by the time the last few arrived, people would rarely touch them.

This would seem rather impolite.

About half an hour later, a man entered with Director Zhang. Upon seeing them, Tan Yawen quickly rose with a welcoming smile.

The man leading the way was Liu Zuosan, whom Tan Yawen had referred to as Brother Liu on the phone earlier.

He was the third eldest in his family, hence his name San.

“Director Zhang, this is Mr. Tan Yawen, the CEO of Treasure Entertainment Company, whom I mentioned to you,” Liu Zuosan said, introducing Tan Yawen to Director Zhang after entering the private room.

Director Zhang nodded slightly, his expression placid, revealing no emotion. Tan Yawen, like a fawning sycophant, slightly bent his body and extended his hands to grasp Director Zhang’s right hand, presenting a servile demeanor. He exclaimed, “Director Zhang, thank you for your trouble. This is a humble offering of wine; please do partake.”

Director Zhang gave a slight hum and said, “Mr. Tan, please don’t be so formal. Little Liu and I have been playing golf together for years.”

“Director Zhang, you are too kind. Just call me Xiao Tan. Please, have a seat,” Tan Yawen said, quickly pulling out a chair and inviting Director Zhang to sit.

As soon as Director Zhang walked over and sat down, Tan Yawen immediately arranged for a secretary to make him tea.

Although Director Zhang enjoyed a good drink, he did not indulge in excessive drinking. It was normal for him to go out for meals occasionally.

However, he never accepted any personal gifts and did not engage in transactional relationships with women. His only hobby was playing golf.

He had met Liu Zuosan through golf several years ago, and they had become quite close.

It was only in the past August that Liu Zuosan learned of Director Zhang’s true identity. Upon discovering Director Zhang’s position, Liu Zuosan was almost stunned speechless.

This middle-aged man, with whom he had played golf for years, held such a high-ranking position.

Liu Zuosan felt as if he had won the lottery. He then shared this information with Tan Yawen, which led to Tan Yawen inviting Director Zhang for dinner today.

After all, Tan Yawen knew that Director Zhang held significant sway in the entertainment industry.

“Director Zhang, please try this tea. It’s fresh tea specially picked from Yunnan; it tastes quite good,” Tan Yawen said eagerly as the secretary finished pouring a cup of tea for Director Zhang.

“I’m not much of a tea connoisseur. A couple of drinks later will suffice,” Director Zhang said with a smile.

“Alright, I’ll have the waiter serve the dishes immediately. My brother and I will accompany Director Zhang for a good drink at lunch,” Tan Yawen said, then instructed the secretary to call for the waiter.

As the dishes were already prepared, they were quickly brought to the table when it was time to serve.

The table was filled with a variety of dishes, showcasing diverse culinary styles.

Looking at the table laden with delicacies, Director Zhang said, “Xiao Tan, you’ve spent too much.”

Upon hearing this, Tan Yawen quickly waved his hand and said, “Director Zhang, it is because you honor me with your presence that I am overjoyed. How can it be considered spending too much?”

Tan Yawen’s flattery was effusive, making Director Zhang feel extremely pleased.

No matter how much one is praised, flattery is always welcome.

Everyone enjoys hearing compliments; even a sage would appreciate kind words.

Thus, Director Zhang felt exceptionally comfortable with Tan Yawen’s sycophancy.

“Haha… Xiao Tan, you truly are a successful CEO; your words are so eloquent,” Director Zhang said with a hearty laugh.

Although he had heard countless compliments and knew that Tan Yawen was trying to curry favor with him, Director Zhang only acted within the bounds of the law. Therefore, he was indifferent to others’ thoughts or motives.

All that mattered was being happy each day.
