Xia Feng's sudden mention of the Beast King caused everyone present to change their expressions.
The Beast King was immensely important to them. How could a human like Xia Feng know about it?
This left everyone bewildered and disbelieving. Had the news already leaked?
"How did you know about the Beast King?" Lord Gulu's face turned cold, revealing a fierce demeanor.
If the news had indeed leaked, he decided to kill Xia Feng first.
This was an extremely confidential matter. Xia Feng revealing it now was a direct insult to their Beastmen race.
Was this some kind of joke?
Everyone had kept the news more tightly guarded than their own backsides. Gulu couldn't fathom how Xia Feng had found out, no matter how hard he racked his brain.
"I heard you talking. I just entered the city and heard you all," Xia Feng replied truthfully.
Indeed, Xia Feng had heard them. Their conversation had been impossible to conceal from him as he entered the city.
Xia Feng was at the Great Perfection stage of Saint Emperor. He had long mastered the rules of this world and could do as he pleased, let alone eavesdrop on their conversations.
These people were plotting, and it clearly wasn't for any good. Xia Feng had initially intended to mind his own business, but since they had practically thrown themselves at him, he reluctantly had to kill some people.
He might as well start with the Beast King they spoke of.
"You're talking nonsense! You couldn't possibly have overheard our conversation," Lord Gulu shouted, clearly not believing Xia Feng's preposterous claim.
He felt this was something that might fool a child, but it was impossible to deceive him.
Although humans looked down on Beastmen and called them brainless, they wouldn't be fooled so easily, would they?
Lord Gulu had already detected Xia Feng trying to eavesdrop on their conversation from outside.
Therefore, Lord Gulu believed Xia Feng was trying to deceive them and immediately exposed Xia Feng's intentions.
"See, I told you, and you don't believe me. What else can I say?" Xia Feng feigned a helpless expression.
"Damn it! I've never met anyone so arrogant. Even your Human City Lord doesn't have such an arrogant attitude. You, however, are treating us like complete idiots," Lord Gulu was so enraged his eyes turned red.
He decided to kill Xia Feng on the spot, disregarding any pre-ritual sacrifices.
His most urgent desire now was to drain Xia Feng's blood, to punish his foul mouth and his contempt for the Beastmen.
"I've made up my mind. You don't need to perform any rituals; I'm going to kill you right now. You're the most detestable human I've ever met," Lord Gulu spoke his mind directly, declaring Xia Feng to be the human he loathed the most.
Humans and Beastmen had always been at odds.
Even though they coexisted in the same city, it was merely a matter of circumstance.
They were simply maintaining a peaceful coexistence due to the current situation, but deep down, they still harbored strong dislike for humans.
Especially after the recent news of the Beast King's potential resurrection, the Beastmen had been acting cautiously, afraid to provoke the humans and fearing any mistakes.
Unexpectedly, Xia Feng's few words had caused Lord Gulu to completely break character.
"You have a poor temperament. I only said a couple of things, and you're ready to kill me. How can you lead the Beastmen?" Xia Feng, seeing Lord Gulu's face turn ashen with anger, deliberately taunted him.
"I'll kill you right now," Lord Gulu declared and reached out to summon an axe, intending to execute Xia Feng on the spot to alleviate his anger.
The ropes binding Xia Feng and the others automatically loosened. Xia Feng clapped his hands and looked at Lord Gulu, saying slowly,
"Never mind, I was just playing with you."
