The door to the consultation room finally opened after nearly an hour.
Kuang Long and Han Duo'er immediately stood up. Ling Wei, with a flushed face, walked out shyly.
Wan Yunting also looked somewhat uncomfortable, as if the two of them had done something illicit inside.
"Sister Yan, has the pharmacy prepared the medicine?"
"It's ready."
As she spoke, Sister Yan carried the packaged Chinese medicine out and placed it on the counter. Wan Yunting walked over, picked it up, and handed it to Han Duo'er, "This is three days' worth of medicine. Boil one packet each day. Remember, boil eight bowls of water down to two bowls, and drink one bowl in the morning and one in the evening."
"I'll remember."
As Ling Wei's assistant, Han Duo'er took note of the instructions.
"Then I'll come back for acupuncture treatment in three days," Ling Wei said with a smile.
Wan Yunting nodded, "If you feel uncomfortable, call me anytime."
Ling Wei nodded and said nothing more. It wasn't until she turned to go downstairs that she let out a comfortable sigh.
Recalling the forty minutes of acupuncture and massage treatment she had just given Wan Yunting, Ling Wei's face burned with embarrassment.
"Big Sister, your face is red."
Kuang Long teased, "Could it be that you and Boss Wan inside..."
"Get rid of your dirty thoughts."
Ling Wei regained her queenly demeanor, casting a cold glance at the foolish man. "Dr. Wan and I are very pure!"
"Got it, going for the pure route..."
Kuang Long tapped his index fingers together again. Enraged, Ling Wei raised her foot and kicked the foolish man's butt hard with the tip of her high heel, then turned and walked towards the main entrance.
"Serves you right."
Watching Kuang Long clutch his backside and cry out in pain, Han Duo'er rolled her eyes at him and hurried to catch up with Ling Wei.
After Kuang Long got into the car and they left the hospital together, Ling Wei, sitting in the back, narrowed her phoenix eyes and asked, "Kuang Long, do you think Boss Wan will work with me?"
Kuang Long grinned mischievously, "If you use a little honey trap, Boss Wan definitely won't be able to resist!"
"Still talking nonsense."
Han Duo'er, in the passenger seat, slapped Kuang Long. He then said seriously, "Big Sister, Boss Wan refused to give even a little face to Ling Xianzong before. And when he was in prison, he explicitly stated that he would absolutely not engage in illegal activities with people like us. So, it will be very difficult to persuade him!"
Ling Wei propped up her delicate chin with her hand, recalling what 'Master Fu' had said last night: Wan Yunting was a mythical creature in a hidden pond. No matter what means were used, they had to win him over! Even if he couldn't be used for her own purposes, he absolutely could not be offended.
"It seems I have no choice but to use a honey trap!"
As she spoke, Ling Wei's pretty face flushed, and she chuckled charmingly.
At this moment, Wan Yunting had no idea he had been targeted by that vixen, Ling Wei.
The time quickly passed to six in the evening.
"Little Wan, come, come home with me for dinner," Wang Yichun called out to him, stepping out of his consultation room and waving him over.
"Okay."
Wan Yunting nodded. He had promised yesterday. After taking off his white coat and returning it to his consultation room, he left the Chinese medicine department with Jiang Yichun. Driving a small car, and following Jiang Yichun's directions, they soon arrived at the residential community where he lived.
"Come in, Little Wan."
Jiang Yichun opened the door to his home and invited Wan Yunting in. He then handed him slippers to change into before walking into the living room. "Sit down, Little Wan. I'll make you a pot of good tea. After Tongxin's grandmother finishes dinner, we'll eat."
"Alright, Director Jiang, there's no need to trouble yourself. Water will be fine."
"No trouble at all, no trouble at all," Jiang Yichun waved his hand. Passing by the kitchen, he called out, "Old partner, Little Wan is here."
"Coming, okay, you entertain him first, I'm cooking," came the voice of Jiang Tongxin's grandmother from the kitchen.
Wan Yunting sat on the sofa, looking around the not-so-large living room. It was very clean. A bookshelf was filled with medical books, and he couldn't help but go over and pick up a volume of Chinese Materia Medica to flip through.
At this moment, the sound of a door opening was heard. Wan Yunting looked up and saw that it was Jiang Tongxin returning from work.
"Director Jiang, you're off work," Wan Yunting greeted with a smile.
"Mm."
Jiang Tongxin's attitude was very cold. It was clear that she already knew Wan Yunting was coming over for dinner tonight.
"Tongxin, you're back. Go inside and help your grandmother cook. Don't keep Little Wan waiting too long."
Jiang Yichun came out with his prized tea. Jiang Tongxin nodded and went into the kitchen.
"Come, Little Wan, let's have some tea first."
Jiang Yichun began to prepare the tea. Wan Yunting walked over with the medical book and said with a smile, "Director Jiang, could I borrow this pharmacopoeia to take back and read for a few days?"
"Of course."
Jiang Yichun gestured towards the books on his bookshelf. "Take back any book you want to read. No one reads these books except me anyway."
This made Wan Yunting curious, and he asked, "Did Director Jiang's parents inherit your traditional Chinese medicine skills?"
Mentioning his children, Jiang Yichun shook his head helplessly. "They all research Western medicine, so fewer and fewer people are willing to learn our traditional Chinese medicine."
Wan Yunting nodded. Once the conversation started, the two of them chatted non-stop over tea.
In the kitchen, Jiang Tongxin and her grandmother, He Chunmei, were busy preparing dinner with clanking sounds.
Looking out at the living room, she saw Jiang Yichun enthusiastically discussing traditional Chinese medicine with Wan Yunting.
Jiang Tongxin could tell that her grandfather really liked this person.
"Little Wan, whether our traditional Chinese medicine can continue to be passed down in the future depends on your generation," Jiang Yichun said with deep emotion. As a director at Huadu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, he was worried about the current difficulties and predicament of traditional Chinese medicine.
"Director Jiang, you flatter me. With seniors like you around, traditional Chinese medicine will surely prosper," Wan Yunting replied with a smile.
Jiang Yichun waved his hand, and then suddenly thought of something. "On the fifth of next month, our Huadu Traditional Chinese Medicine Association will hold its annual conference at our university. Physicians from all over the province will attend. It's a rare opportunity. I'll take you to see it then!"
Wan Yunting was surprised. "Can I go?"
"Of course."
Jiang Yichun patted his shoulder and smiled, "With your medical skills, you can be considered among the top of the younger generation."
Wan Yunting waved his hands modestly at this, but he was still very much looking forward to this conference held by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association. This would allow him to meet the top traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in the province.
"Dinner is ready."
He Chunmei brought out the last dish, a nourishing soup, and placed it on the dining table.
"Let's go, let's eat..."
Jiang Yichun stood up, beckoned Wan Yunting, and the two of them moved to the dining room.
Jiang Tongxin handed him a pair of chopsticks and a bowl. Wan Yunting took them with both hands, said thank you, and then sat down.
"Little Wan, my cooking might not be very good, please don't mind," He Chunmei said, knowing that Wan Yunting had saved her husband. She was very enthusiastic.
"Not at all."
Wan Yunting shook his head. This was the first time he had experienced a family meal like this since his release from prison, so he felt a bit reserved.
"Come, Little Wan, let's have a couple of drinks."
Jiang Yichun took out his prized wine again. His wife wanted to say something, but seeing how happy he was, she didn't stop him.
"It's fine. Tongxin will drive you back to the hospital tonight," Jiang Yichun said, pointing to Jiang Tongxin, who was sitting opposite Wan Yunting.
"Alright," Wan Yunting had no choice but to drink with the old man.
Jiang Tongxin remained silent throughout the meal. She was occasionally called by her grandmother to serve Wan Yunting rice or soup, which made him feel very embarrassed.
By the end, only Wan Yunting and Jiang Yichun were left drinking at the table. The old man then signaled Jiang Tongxin and asked, "Little Wan, what do you think of my granddaughter?"
Wan Yunting was taken aback. He turned to look at Jiang Tongxin, who was accompanying He Chunmei in the living room. "Director Jiang is so young and has already become the director of the emergency department. She's very accomplished."
The wine-loving Jiang Yichun waved his hand. "I'm asking you, what do you think of her as a person?"
Seeing the old man's sly smile, Wan Yunting finally understood, and couldn't help but smile wryly.
So, this dinner was arranged by Jiang Yichun to try and set him up with Jiang Tongxin.
At this moment, Jiang Tongxin came over. "Dr. Wan, it's getting late. It's time to go back to the hospital. I'm on duty tonight."
