Missing your smile

Chapter 68 Taking Action

“Master, why aren’t there any patients? We’re treating everyone for free, so there should be plenty of patients.”

The young doctor said anxiously, feeling his medical skills would be wasted if no patients came.

“Stop chattering and just wait.”

Seeing Qin Hui’s calm demeanor, Mao Qishan felt much more settled. He couldn’t show any expression in front of a junior.

Another hour passed, and still, no patients arrived at Huichun Hall. Everyone was starting to get impatient.

Mao Qishan also secretly shook his head. If it were like this every day, Huichun Hall wouldn't last long.

Just as everyone was incredibly disappointed, an elderly man walked in.

“Are you really treating illnesses for free here?”

The old man’s hair was gray, and he asked with some disbelief.

He had originally intended to go to the hospital, but he missed his bus. Rather than waiting for the next one, he decided to come here and ask.

“Of course. Today is the grand opening of Huichun Hall, and we’re offering free treatment for the entire day.”

A nurse said with a smile. After waiting for so long, they finally saw a patient. Regardless, the establishment was open.

“Elderly sir, quickly, come and sit here. I’ll examine you.”

Mao Qishan’s spirits lifted.

The old man nodded and sat opposite Mao Qishan with a hint of curiosity.

Mao Qishan’s traditional Chinese medicine skills were excellent. He first felt the old man’s pulse and then described a series of the elder’s ailments.

The old man was shocked. He knew that if he went to a hospital with these conditions, it would require a series of instruments to diagnose them.

“A’wu, go get the medicine for the elderly sir.”

Soon, Mao Qishan wrote out a prescription and handed it to his apprentice.

“Yes, Master.”

As A’wu stood up, a voice interrupted him.

“Wait, this prescription needs some adjustments.”

Qin Hui stepped forward and spoke. Although Mao Qishan’s medical skills were good, there were still some areas for improvement.

“This is a prescription from my master. How could it need adjustments?”

“You know, my master’s prescriptions are more numerous than the meals you’ve eaten.”

A’wu said disdainfully. He greatly admired his master’s medical skills. Seeing Qin Hui question his master’s prescription, A’wu was naturally displeased.

“Oh? If that’s the case, why don’t you tell me what’s wrong with my prescription?”

Mao Qishan stroked his goatee and said calmly.

Clearly, he also wanted to see if Qin Hui was merely putting on a show.

“These two ingredients, although potent tonics, would cause some harm to the elderly gentleman’s body when combined with the other herbs.”

Qin Hui pointed out the two most crucial herbs in the prescription and then made some modifications with a pen.

“Just add my ingredient, and the medicinal properties will become much milder.”

Qin Hui handed the revised prescription back to Mao Qishan.

Mao Qishan initially didn’t believe Qin Hui’s flattering words, but after a careful look, his brow furrowed slightly before relaxing.

Although his own prescription could cure the old man’s illness, it would indeed cause some harm to his body. However, he had already minimized the harm, knowing that all medicine has some side effects; it was impossible to have no impact.

But Qin Hui’s prescription accurately avoided this issue.

“Excellent, truly excellent!”

After reading the prescription, Mao Qishan couldn’t help but praise it, and his impression of Qin Hui began to change.

A’wu, on the side, remained unimpressed. He attributed it to Qin Hui’s luck, as everyone makes mistakes once in a while.

The old man, holding the prescription, was overjoyed and still asked with disbelief, “You really aren’t charging?”

“Grandpa, we’re not charging today for our opening. If you feel indebted, just introduce more patients to us.”

Qin Hui smiled slightly and escorted the old man out of Huichun Hall.

With the first patient, a few more soon followed. Initially, these patients didn’t believe there were such good doctors, let alone ones who didn’t charge.

Qin Hui watched these patients, not intervening further. He sat aside, sipping Biluochun tea, as these were minor ailments that didn’t require his personal attention. Qin Hui was only interested in difficult and complex diseases.

After this batch of patients left, Huichun Hall became truly bustling, as the doctors at Huichun Hall were indeed excellent.

Word spread from ten to a hundred. By noon, Huichun Hall was already crowded with patients.

This free medical treatment was not going to waste.

“Make way, please! My daughter is not doing well!”

At this moment, a middle-aged beautiful woman rushed forward in the crowd.

The little girl in her arms, about seven or eight years old, was pale and vomiting incessantly. She looked terrifying, as if she might stop breathing at any moment.

Upon hearing this, Mao Qishan immediately took his apprentice over.

When the beautiful woman saw the doctors, she quickly said, “Doctor, please, quickly save my daughter! Her heart condition has relapsed.”

Mao Qishan’s expression changed slightly after taking over the little girl.

If they had arrived a moment sooner, he might have been able to cure her with acupuncture. But now, she could only be sent to a major hospital for treatment. More importantly, it would be too late even to call an ambulance.

“Doctor, quickly, quickly treat her.”

The beautiful woman beside him urged.

“It’s too late. Even if I treat her now, there’s only a thirty percent chance of curing her.”

Mao Qishan said with disappointment. He knew that a thirty percent chance was already very low. More importantly, he didn’t want a medical accident to occur under his care on the opening day, as it would greatly affect his reputation. If Zhao Wuji were here, there might be a fifty percent chance.

“Thirty percent chance?”

The beautiful woman was stunned and then burst into tears.

“Let me.”

Qin Hui stepped out from the crowd at this moment.

Qin Hui had been drinking tea when he heard the commotion and hurried over.

Upon entering the crowd, Qin Hui saw the pale little girl.

“Qin Hui, the little girl’s heart condition has flared up. I only have a thirty percent chance.”

Mao Qishan stated truthfully, his skills insufficient, he kept it brief.

“Don’t worry, leave it to me.”

Qin Hui carefully placed the little girl on the examination bed, preparing to administer acupuncture.

“You, you can really cure my daughter?”

The beautiful woman looked skeptical, as Qin Hui was too young to appear like a doctor.

“Don’t worry. If I can’t cure her, you can hold me accountable.”

After speaking, Qin Hui began to perform the Jiuyang Divine Needle technique, as saving lives was the priority.

As one silver needle after another was inserted, Qin Hui flicked his fingers lightly, and a humming sound of needles resonated.

Many people were shocked to witness this.

They were all practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, and what Qin Hui was performing was the long-lost Jiuyang Divine Needle.

Mao Qishan was utterly shocked. Only now did he understand why Zhao Wuji had sent him here.

It seemed he had truly underestimated Qin Hui.
