"That's wonderful. The next time I see your grandfather, I'll finally have something to tell him," Xu Zhilan said, beaming at the two of them.
Shen Xi gently pulled her hand away, picked up a silver needle from the table, and said, "Grandma, please lie down quickly. We haven't done today's acupuncture yet."
She just wanted to finish today's treatment and leave as soon as possible.
"Oh, alright." Xu Zhilan obediently lay down flat and then asked with a frown, "Xixi, I remember you used to be a reporter. When did you learn acupuncture?"
"Later, when I was pursuing my postgraduate studies, I found myself very interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine and switched my major to it."
"Oh, I see. It's great that you're a doctor now. Si Ye has germophobia, so after you two get married, you'll have to help him cure it."
"Grandma, germophobia is a psychological disorder. You need to find a psychologist. I can't cure it."
"You're both doctors anyway, you could learn psychology. In short, I feel most relieved leaving him to you."
Shen Xi's heart skipped a beat, unsure how to respond. She decided to use her privilege as a doctor to change the subject.
"Grandma, it's best not to talk during acupuncture. If you can fall asleep, the effect will be even better."
"Alright." Xu Zhilan's lips curved into a smile as she slowly closed her eyes.
Qin Si Ye looked at them with a complex expression and slowly walked out of the room.
Twenty minutes later, when Shen Xi emerged from the room, only Qin Si Yue was in the living room.
"Sister Xi, how is Grandma? I wanted to go in just now, but my brother wouldn't let me."
Shen Xi replied with a composed expression, "She has fallen asleep."
"Sister Xi, so you and my brother went through so much last night. Tell me quickly, wasn't my brother very handsome when he saved you?" Qin Si Yue asked, her eyes twinkling with gossip.
Shen Xi did not answer her question, instead, she walked towards the door. "Si Yue, I'm a bit tired. You can go in and check on Grandma later."
"Huh? Sister Xi, aren't you staying for dinner? The kitchen is already preparing it." Qin Si Yue's face showed disappointment.
It was one thing not to answer her, but why was she in such a hurry to leave?
Little did she know that Shen Xi had slept very late last night, and after experiencing so much here this morning, she was already mentally and physically exhausted.
More importantly, she had a sick child at home who needed her care, and she didn't want to linger here for another moment.
"No, I have other matters to attend to. You all eat!" Shen Xi glanced back at her and continued walking forward.
A moment later, Qin Si Ye emerged from the bathroom.
"Brother, did you bully Sister Xi in Grandma's room just now? Her expression wasn't very good, and she left in a hurry," Qin Si Yue said, quickly walking over to question him.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I possibly bully her? Besides, Grandma is here," Qin Si Ye said, glaring at her with a hint of anger in his eyes.
Qin Si Yue was unfazed and playfully said, "I think you have the intention but can't find the opportunity. Tell me, do you have feelings for her? Otherwise, why were you so eager to come back to send her off that night? And why did you go to rescue her alone last night?"
Qin Si Ye became even more annoyed. "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll have Feng Sao sew your mouth shut with a needle. Everything I did was for Grandma."
With that, he strode towards his room on the second floor.
Shortly after Shen Xi started her car, she received a WeChat message from Qin Si Ye.
"Grandma suddenly became disoriented. What happened just now was an impulsive act on my part. Please forgive me."
"It's alright. It was just acting anyway," Shen Xi replied nonchalantly using voice input.
"Thank you!" After a long pause, Qin Si Ye sent back two words.
"You're welcome. We're even now," Shen Xi said in a light and calm voice.
Unbeknownst to her, the man on the other end of the WeChat message was tightly gripping his phone, his gaze fixed intently on the screen, leaving him speechless for a long time.
