"Why?" Qin Si Ye frowned.
"Because I don't want Mommy to know that we participated in an online verbal battle to help you. Otherwise, she would be very worried," Chen Chen, with his high intelligence, reacted swiftly.
His concern was not unfounded. This was, after all, an adult's "war," and their participation carried a certain risk.
If Shen Xi found out, she would definitely confiscate his tablet.
"Alright," Qin Si Ye's brows lifted slightly. "I'll order the cakes here first."
Before hanging up, they also added each other on WeChat for easier future contact.
Qin Si Ye was in a great mood. After putting down the phone, he looked up at Zhao Ze and said:
"Immediately call 'Mai Si Qi' cake shop and order cakes in fruit, chocolate, and matcha flavors. Make them ten-inch sizes. I'll be there to pick them up shortly."
Zhao Ze was startled and couldn't help but ask, "Who is that child?"
"Shen Zi Chen, Dr. Shen's son," Qin Si Ye replied with a slight curve of his lips as he stood up, without hesitation.
Zhao Ze furrowed his brow slightly. So, it was that cute and clever little darling who had barged into Zhuo Sheng Building alone a while back, claiming to be the CEO's son.
And this smile on the CEO's face was the first he had seen in three days.
But why would a child order three cakes, and such large ones at that? Could they finish them all?
As Qin Si Ye left the group company and sat in his car, he received a WeChat message from Shen Xi.
"Mr. Qin, are you there? Can you tell me the name of the cake shop where you bought Chen Chen a cake a few days ago? Would it be convenient to tell me?"
"What's wrong?" Qin Si Ye's lips curved slightly as he sent a voice message back.
"The children are clamoring for cake, and I want to go buy some for them," Shen Xi replied with text.
"I happen to be free and am heading there to deliver them right away," Qin Si Ye replied.
"No need, you can't always trouble you. Please just give me the address."
"I don't find it troublesome. Let them wait, I'll be there soon."
Thirty minutes later, the doorbell of Villa No. 3 in Hua Ban Li rang. Shen Xi was startled, knowing it was Qin Si Ye.
She signaled Butler Wu to open the door. When she saw Qin Si Ye standing at the entrance with three large cakes, she was surprised.
Why did he buy three again, and such large ones?
Upon seeing him, Chen Chen and Yan Yan ran towards him swiftly.
One took a cake, the other held his hand and led him inside.
"Uncle Qin, come in quickly."
"Uncle Qin, you really are a punctual person."
Shen Xi stood up from the sofa, a smile on her face, and greeted him warmly, "Mr. Qin, please come in and have a seat. I'm sorry to have troubled you to make a trip this late."
"You're welcome. When you messaged me, I was just nearby that cake shop," Qin Si Ye said, placing the cakes on the coffee table by the sofa with Chen Chen.
Shen Xi quietly noted the name of the cake shop and asked with a friendly expression, "How much is it? I'll transfer the money to you."
"Dr. Shen, saying that makes us seem like strangers. You accompany my grandmother for chess every week without charging, don't you? Consider this my way of thanking you," Qin Si Ye said with a faint smile, looking down at the two children. "From now on, whenever they want cake, they can just tell me."
Before Shen Xi could refuse, the two children jumped up excitedly and made the decision for her, "That's great, Uncle Qin! You must keep your word."
"Of course," Qin Si Ye, like a child, high-fived them both. "A gentleman's word is as good as his bond."
The two children were taken aback. Yan Yan tilted her small head and looked at Shen Xi, "Mommy, what does Uncle Qin mean by that?"
Shen Xi smiled and replied, "Uncle Qin means that he is a trustworthy person and never goes back on his word."
As she said this, Shen Xi's heart skipped a beat. She suddenly remembered the contract he had signed with her five years ago.
He had followed the terms of that contract exactly, helping her resolve all her difficulties. He had always been a man of his word.
"So that's how it is," Chen Chen said thoughtfully, looking up at her. "Then, Mommy, you can't stop Uncle Qin from buying us cakes in the future. Otherwise, he'll become an untrustworthy person."
