Chapter 398: All the Prodigies Reveal Their Trump Cards
Inside Moonwatch Palace, every gaze turned to Shi Xuan.
A divine radiance burst forth from his body as he stood tall in the sky. Behind him, a blazing sun phantom slowly emerged.
“Divine Body!”
“That is a Divine Body!”
The Shi family members were so excited they rose to their feet. They had once believed Shi Xuan gained little by entering Wendao Academy, but now, seeing him awaken the Divine Body, they were certain sending him there was the best decision they had ever made.
Chu Feng and the others remained calm, as if this was the most ordinary thing.
In contrast, the Northern Abyss royals and Shi Xuan’s eight fiancées turned pale. They had assumed the five Children of Luck’s victory was inevitable, never expecting Shi Xuan to awaken such a physique.
The onlooking cultivators were first shocked, then thrilled.
“To think we came to a betrothal banquet and ended up witnessing a prodigy awaken the Divine Body. This battle is becoming more and more exciting.”
High above, Shi Xuan swept his gaze across the five and spoke coolly. “Are you ready?”
Behind Xue Wentian, a void gate yawned open, and from it stretched a massive dragon claw.
Only Zhao Wuji remained still. Before coming here, he had already investigated the other four. Such a minor contest did not warrant his intervention. If Shi Xuan had only this strength, then Zhao was certain the fortune clinging to him would be ripe for the taking.
Boom!
The Desolate Heaven Seal slammed down with a deafening crash, its shockwaves engulfing the sky. The spectators could no longer see who stood or fell.
A breeze drifted through, faint yet enough to scatter the lingering force.
Gasps echoed as the crowd beheld the five Children of Luck once more.
Not only were they uninjured, but their auras had grown even more terrifying.
Xu Aotian, clearly still in the True Fate Realm, now radiated the might of an unapproachable supreme existence.
Qiu Qianhen, wreathed in corpse qi and malice, resembled a Great Sage crawling from the netherworld.
Long Zaiyuan exuded overwhelming demonic aura, a true fiend incarnate.
Only Zhao Wuji and Xue Wentian appeared somewhat normal, though even so, the dragon claw looming behind Xue Wentian inspired dread among hidden Great Sages watching in secret.
“Shi Xuan, you are nothing special.”
Xu Aotian spoke with disdain.
“Shi Xuan, kneel and die!”
Qiu Qianhen’s face twisted with ferocity, his form terrifying to behold.
Zhao Wuji and the others said nothing, simply watching in silence to gauge Shi Xuan’s response.
Sensing their heightened power, Shi Xuan smiled faintly. “At last, you bring out your real strength.”
“Hm?”
For the first time, a flicker of surprise crossed Zhao Wuji’s calm eyes. Shi Xuan’s reaction had strayed from his expectations.
Shi Xuan caught that subtle change and smiled. “senior brother Zhao, do you still believe victory is certain?”
“You’re trying to provoke me?”
A trace of anger colored Zhao Wuji’s voice. “Such tricks will not work on me.”
Shi Xuan’s smile deepened. His voice was calm, yet carried an unsettling weight. “No, I am simply saying—it is time I also reveal my trump card. Until now, I have not tested its true power. For that, I should thank you.”
Zhao Wuji and the others now looked as if they had swallowed flies, their faces dark and twisted.
“You deserve death!”
Qiu Qianhen roared, losing all reason as corpse qi and malice surged from his body.
“Netherworld Saint Palm!”
As his palm struck toward Shi Xuan, a colossal phantom a hundred zhang tall appeared behind him, raising its hand in unison. Though only a shadow, everyone present felt the aura of a Saint emanating from it.
“It’s over. Shi Xuan is finished this time.”
An elder cultivator muttered instinctively as he watched.
Shi Xuan’s face remained impassive as he produced a sword jade and shouted, “Master, aid me in the strike!”
The instant his words fell, sword qi burst forth from the jade.
Clang!
A towering figure wielding a longsword manifested in the sky, casually thrusting its blade. The terrifying saintly shadow behind Qiu Qianhen vanished instantly, and the corpse qi engulfing him was swept away.
It all happened so quickly that the onlookers barely registered it before it was over.
Everyone froze like statues, dumbfounded by what they had just witnessed.
Only after a long silence did a Marquis murmur, “Are they truly only cultivators of the True Fate Realm? If they can unleash trump cards like this, even we could not withstand them.”
Another cultivator sighed, “The younger generation truly is fearsome… I must admit we are old.”
The Shi family’s patriarch turned to the sky, then looked toward Chu Feng, bowing respectfully. “Daoist Chu, you truly are the foremost Great Sage of this age. Just a single sword qi from you dispersed a saintly shadow.”
“Hush…”
Chu Feng raised a finger to his lips. “The real show is only beginning. Let us watch slowly.”
“Yes… yes.”
The Shi patriarch finally understood the gulf between himself and the man before him. His long-held anxiety eased at last.
But the most shaken of all was Zhao Wuji. Until now, everything had been within his calculations.
Never had he expected Shi Xuan to reveal trump card after trump card, shaking even his confidence. That sword strike—he was not sure he could withstand it even at full strength.
Fortunately, among those present were others whose trump cards even he dreaded.
Shi Xuan did not strike again but swept his gaze across his enemies.
“Gentlemen, are you satisfied with that trump card of mine?”
Are you insane?
The same thought sprang into all five minds. If not for maintaining their prodigy image, they would have cursed him outright.
Shi Xuan’s smile turned playful. “Since you say nothing, I’ll take it as agreement. Very well, since everyone has revealed their trump cards, let us settle this here. Which one of you will step up first… to die?”
It was blatant provocation.
None moved. Instead, Zhao Wuji and the others fixed their eyes on Qiu Qianhen and Xu Aotian.
Both men’s gazes brimmed with apprehension. That sword just now was no ordinary Great Sage’s strike.
Unless driven to a life-or-death struggle, neither wished to reveal their final cards, ones so dangerous even they could barely control them.
The spectators in Moonwatch Palace were astounded by the sudden reversal. Shi Xuan, who moments ago had been pressed down by five, was now suppressing all five alone.
Cao Youqian chuckled at the sight. “Junior brother, now you’re speaking with the right tone. I wonder if those fellows will be forced into a do-or-die frenzy?”
Chu Feng laughed. “That depends on how Xiao Xuan chooses to act.”
Above, Shi Xuan smirked. “Where is all your arrogance from earlier?”
At that, Xu Aotian snapped. He stepped forward, ready to speak—but Shi Xuan cut him off.
“Xu Aotian, you’re not bad. Quite bold. Now… die!”
“I—”
Xu Aotian had no chance to finish before a sword qi slashed down upon him. He instinctively screamed in his mind: “Ancestor, save me!”
The other four were stunned. None of them had expected Shi Xuan to suddenly strike without warning. Xu Aotian was finished…
