“Human…”
Xerneas changed its attitude. Faced with Terrance, whom it originally did not intend to pay much attention to, it began to take him seriously.
“That bracelet is important to you, isn’t it?”
Terrance looked at it in confusion, not understanding what it was trying to say.
“In order to investigate the nature of this power, I dismantled it. If that caused you any loss, please don’t hold it against me.”
“In exchange, I can help you and your Pokémon master that aura.”
As Xerneas finished speaking, a tremendous burst of energy erupted from its body. This energy manifested as an aura, remarkably similar to the “Fairy Aura” that had appeared on the Mega Altaria earlier!
“Fairy Aura is a unique ability of mine. I once believed I was the only one in this world who possessed it, but…”
“Bearing two kinds of special energy, it seems to have undergone an unprecedented mutation.”
Terrance suddenly understood. What it referred to was the fusion of Altaria’s Mega Evolution power and the Z-system power!“I need it. Let it stay by my side for a while. I want to understand the aura it possesses. In return, I will teach it how to use the Fairy Aura…”
Xerneas gazed intently at Terrance and Altaria. The “totem aura,” or rather, the power of the Z-system, had stirred Xerneas’s curiosity.
‘Perhaps, by merging life energy with the Z-power that this human speaks of, it may be possible to pass on Fairy Aura.’
It could tell that Altaria’s Mega Evolution was accompanied by powerful life energy. For Xerneas, mastering this kind of energy would be effortless. Precisely because of this, it saw boundless potential in Altaria.
Having lived for who knows how long, this was the first time Xerneas had encountered such a unique Pokémon, one that possessed the same ability as itself!
“Xerneas… are you saying that Altaria should train at your side?” Terrance was shocked.
As Xerneas nodded, Terrance and Altaria exchanged a glance, finding it even harder to accept this information.
“If it can gain preliminary mastery of Fairy Aura, its strength will increase beyond imagination.” Xerneas spoke slowly, continuously stirring the hearts of Altaria and Terrance.
This was… an opportunity to become stronger.
Terrance quickly recalled Professor Augustine Sycamore’s theory and Ash’s experiences. If Xerneas could control Mega Evolution through life energy, and if Xerneas had mastered the mature application of Fairy Aura…
Then this opportunity would be unimaginable for both Altaria and himself.
But…
“Altaria and I would have to be separated, right…” Terrance asked nervously, drenched in sweat.
If Altaria were to follow Xerneas to train, wouldn’t that mean it would leave him?
If the training required decades, Terrance found it hard to accept.
“Don’t worry. It won’t take too long, and the training location is right here.” Xerneas, noticing Terrance’s concern, spoke gently: “Beside the maiden’s statue, I will guide your Altaria in mastering Fairy Aura. After that, it will find you again, relying on the bond you two share.”
“Altaria says it wants to become stronger so it can help Terrance better, Roto!!”
The Rotom Pokédex flew around while crying, translating Altaria’s cry.
“I see…” Terrance suddenly felt as if a weight had been lifted off his back. Since Altaria made the choice itself, he would support it.
If it wouldn’t take too long, then there really wasn’t much to worry about.
Didn’t Mismagius also train alone outside for half a year? Terrance comforted himself with this thought.
“Seems like you’ve made your decision…” Xerneas nodded and said, “Human, rest assured. I will teach it with all my heart. The bond between you and it, I can feel it. You won’t be apart for too long.”
“Thank you, Xerneas,” Terrance said as he looked at it.
Xerneas nodded once more and controlled its power to send the Key Stone flying into Terrance’s palm.
Staring at the Key Stone, which had finally separated from the Mega Ring, Terrance gave a bitter smile. He had tried everything to remove it in the early days and failed, yet now it came off so easily.
“From now on… using Mega Evolution won’t drain energy anymore. I guess it’s a trade-off,” Terrance sighed.
Just as he let out that sigh, in the next moment, another light suddenly appeared in front of him!
It was a droplet of water that floated up from the lake under Xerneas’s control, shining with an astonishing brilliance.
This brilliance made Terrance feel an overwhelming vitality!
“This is a drop of water imbued with life energy that I created. You can try giving it to that friend of yours, but…”
“If it involves the Aura power you mentioned, I can’t guarantee this droplet will be able to save your friend.”
Dumbfounded, Terrance took the solidified water droplet passed over by Xerneas, suddenly at a loss.
His face lit up with joy, a suppressed feeling surged up then instantly disappeared, leaving his whole body feeling relieved.
“Thank you so much, Xerneas!!” Terrance bowed deeply, sincerely expressing his gratitude to Xerneas.
“No need to thank me. If you want to give thanks, thank this partner of yours.” Xerneas looked at Altaria and spoke slowly.
Terrance felt complicated as countless emotions surged in his heart.
…
Two days later.
Terrance appeared in Lumiose City. Standing before him was a woman he hadn’t seen in a long time.
Fujiki.
When Terrance contacted the Hoenn League to confirm Albus’s condition again, he learned that Fujiki was currently on a mission in Kalos.
“Try this.” Terrance handed the life water given by Xerneas to Fujiki and said.
“While his condition hasn’t fully deteriorated yet.”
“Where did you get this?” She took the life water and asked in disbelief.
Terrance shook his head and said, “I can’t say. Also, I still have one more thing to handle in Kalos, so I can’t return to Hoenn for now. I’m leaving Albus in your care.”
Clutching the container holding the life water, Fujiki suddenly gave a deep bow. When she raised her head, tears were already streaming down her face.
A moment later, watching Fujiki’s departing figure, Terrance murmured, “Hope everything goes well…”
Meanwhile, in the Kanto Region, a rookie Trainer and a Pikachu witnessed the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh flying overhead.
