“Haha, see? The effect of the Stench Berry simulated by Mismagius is probably already indistinguishable from the real thing.”
Terrance laughed heartily. This was still Mismagius holding back. If it went all out, that group of Beedrill would probably be knocked out by the stench on the spot.
“A smell-based illusion skill?” Akon was surprised.
“Wanna give it a try?”
“I’ll pass on that…”
While Terrance and Akon were talking, the two reporters seemed to notice what had happened behind them. They also saw their two saviors and hurriedly ran over.
“Thank you so much! We’re reporters from Rimai TV. Without your help, we might have been chased for a long time…”
The male reporter embarrassedly stepped forward.
“No problem, it was nothing,” said Terrance. “May I ask, are you here because of the girl’s statue up there?”
“Oh? So are you?”The female reporter spoke in surprise: “But the area is still off-limits right now. No unauthorized personnel are allowed in except for the investigation team…”
Hearing this, Terrance and Akon looked at each other. Not allowed in?
Then they came all this way for nothing.
After politely declining the reporters’ attempt to express further gratitude, Terrance and Akon started climbing the mountain from another direction.
“Didn’t they say we’re not allowed in?” Akon asked.
“We won’t go in ourselves, but that doesn’t stop us from surveying the ruins.”
Terrance gestured, and Akon followed his gaze, suddenly understanding.
“You plan to have Mismagius sneak in and observe the ruins, then recreate it using an illusion?”
Shaking his head, Terrance said, “Rotom Pokédex too. I plan to let it go together with Mismagius.”
“Its photo and video functions will come in handy. With Mismagius assisting it, no one should be able to notice them.”
At this moment, Terrance was quite confident in the interference capabilities of Mismagius’s illusion skills. If it could just slightly disrupt the view of others and their Pokémon, it shouldn’t be too difficult.
He and Akon, being too large as humans, wouldn’t sneak in themselves. Having Mismagius and the Rotom Pokédex go in alone, the chance of being discovered was less than 1%.
In the following decades, a disheartened Jan returned alone to the statue of his lover Aila. Through his own efforts, he spread greenery over the land that had been drained of life force by Yveltal. After decades of work, he earned Xerneas’s approval. But the end of the story…
Xerneas still could not reverse Aila’s petrification.
“If such a tragic story were true…” Terrance looked up toward the mountaintop. “It’s just too heartbreaking.”
“Legend has it that Xerneas has the power to grant life. I wonder if we might find traces of its hiding place within these ruins. But judging from this myth, asking Xerneas to save Albus would be incredibly difficult.”
Terrance’s heart sank. He had memorized the location of the ruins. If he could return to his timeline, he would definitely come back to see for himself.
Half an hour later, Rotom Pokédex and Mismagius returned unharmed. They had easily completed the task Terrance assigned, with Rotom Pokédex successfully capturing clear images of every part of the ruins.
“Let’s head down the mountain,” Terrance said to Akon.
Having accomplished their goal, the two had no intention of staying longer. Terrance called out Gallade and had it teleport them down the mountain directly.
“You didn’t call Gallade when climbing up, but used Teleport to go back down. You’ve definitely done shady stuff with Mismagius and the others, haven’t you?!”
After descending, Akon asked suspiciously.
“Of course not…” Terrance waved it off. Don’t go slandering a good person like that.
He had just suddenly felt like letting Gallade stretch a bit.
…
…
“Xerneas usually rests in the form of a tree. I already knew that even without the ruins’ records…”
“A rainbow-colored forest? Isn’t that a direct quote from the myth?”
After settling down somewhere temporarily, Terrance began discussing what was inside the ruins with Rotom Pokédex.
“The myth was also recorded inside the ruins, Roto!! And it seems to be the original version!!”
Rotom Pokédex said, “Also, look at this image of the girl’s statue, it definitely doesn’t look like it was carved. After my analysis, there’s over a 50% chance she was a real person who was petrified!!”
“Hmm.” Terrance rubbed his chin. But none of this was particularly valuable information.
After that, Terrance and Rotom Pokédex sighed helplessly. The only real value of these ruins seemed to be the confirmation of the tragic myth’s authenticity.
“Ter… Ter… Terrance!!”
Suddenly, Akon’s exaggerated voice rang from outside the room, and Terrance instantly sprang to his feet.
“Celebi seems to be waking up!!”
Hearing Akon’s words, Terrance rushed outside and saw the backpack bathed in glowing light.
The two carefully took out the leaf inside and watched as it continued to flash with a dazzling brilliance, both of them astonished.
Bathed in that light, the temporarily rented room was enveloped in a warm, comforting glow.
The plants on the windowsill began radiating vibrant life under the light, becoming full of vitality.
One minute later.
The leaf slowly transformed. A beam of white light emerged from it, and then… a burst of white scattered, revealing the green figure once more before Terrance and Akon.
With eyes still closed, the Forest Deity, Celebi, awakened like a sleeping infant.
“Eee…”
As Celebi awoke from its deep sleep, it gradually regained consciousness, opening its curious eyes to gaze at Terrance and Akon.
