Chapter 249 Phone Formatting

The news of Lao Mo's surrender quickly spread.

Most of the task force members were unfamiliar with the name "Lao Mo."

They were curious, wondering if there was anyone named Lao Mo in Yu Min's criminal gang.

Just as someone was about to step forward to question him, Ge Qing suddenly drew his gun and pointed it at Lao Mo.

"Hands on your head, squat down!"

With the team leader's shout, the quick-thinking action team immediately drew their weapons and surrounded him.

Lao Mo calmly glanced at Ge Qing, then at Gao Fei, who was only three meters away. He clasped his hands behind his head and slowly squatted down.

After Lao Mo was taken away, the uninformed task force members learned his true identity.

Everyone looked at Gao Fei, who was sitting in the lobby, having eaten his fill.

Earlier, they had thought Gao Fei was somehow entangled with Yu Min, which was why he was with the task force.

Now, knowing Lao Mo's identity, they realized that Gao Fei's sudden appearance was not due to suspicion, but rather fear of the gunman Lao Mo, and he had come seeking protection.

Ge Qing dismissed everyone and walked to the table in the lobby, pulling out a stool to sit opposite Gao Fei.

"Mr. Gao, Lao Mo has surrendered, so you are safe now!"

"Safe? Team Leader Ge, besides Lao Mo, there's still a sniper out there. His threat is even greater."

After a few seconds of eye contact, Ge Qing leaned forward and asked in a low voice, "What exactly are you up to?

Why did Lao Mo surrender? And where is Yu Min?"

Gao Fei drank the cold tea from the paper cup and smiled calmly, "Team Leader Ge, I'm just here for protection. I don't have any tricks or ulterior motives.

Lao Mo's surrender indicates he's in a desperate situation and finally decided to turn himself in and report things. Isn't that a good thing!

As for Yu Min, I've never even met him. How would I know where he fled?"

Ge Qing leaned back in his chair and smiled, "Hu Qing and his brothers were six. Now only Guo Yue remains. Could it be him who's helping Yu Min escape?"

"If it's really him helping Yu Min escape, then Team Leader Ge should just go arrest him!"

Gao Fei shrugged indifferently, his face showing no emotion. Instead, he said with a smile, "However, Team Leader Ge, arresting someone requires evidence."

As he finished speaking, a task force colleague walked over quickly, whispered something in Ge Qing's ear, and then walked away.

"They confessed everything?"

He stood up in surprise.

The colleague nodded, saying with some surprise, "We had just said Lao Mo had surrendered, and then Xiang Nan and his group all cooperated and provided evidence of Yu Min's crimes."

Ge Qing turned abruptly to look at Gao Fei, his brow furrowed slightly. He said nothing more and simply turned and walked away.

He had been very curious why Lao Mo would suddenly surrender.

Now, knowing that as soon as Xiang Nan and the other nine heard about Lao Mo's surrender, they all suddenly confessed to Yu Min's crimes, only one thing could be explained.

Lao Mo was the signal they were waiting for.

They intended to shift all their crimes onto the fleeing Yu Min.

With Yu Min having escaped and disappeared, and all the blame placed on him, Xiang Nan and the core members of the group could escape the death penalty and life imprisonment.

When Ge Qing obtained the latest interrogation records and read their confessions, his suspicions were confirmed. The group had indeed begun shifting all responsibility onto Yu Min.

Ge Qing looked at Gao Fei, who had not yet left.

Could he have arranged this?

Just as the task force was conducting a surprise interrogation of Lao Mo and verifying the statements of Xiang Nan and the others, two colleagues from the Municipal Bureau entered the task force with a man who had slightly curly hair and somewhat dark skin.

"Old Li, what brings you here?"

"We've brought you a lead!"

"Who is this man..."

"He knows Yu Min's whereabouts!"

As soon as the Municipal Bureau colleague spoke, the task force colleague who had approached to ask questions immediately turned and ran off.

Interrogation Room.

Ge Qing, who had just finished interrogating Lao Mo, pushed open the door and glanced at the man brought by the Municipal Bureau colleagues. He asked directly, "Do you know where Yu Min is?"

The man looked bewildered. It wasn't until one of the Municipal Bureau colleagues translated for him that he began to speak in a rapid, Southeast Asian language from the country of Vietnam.

After he finished speaking, the colleague responsible for translation immediately relayed, "Team Leader Ge, he said he saw Yu Min at the pier."

"Is there any evidence?"

Ge Qing replied. The Municipal Bureau colleague translated again for the man.

The next second, the man pulled out his phone and handed it over.

Ge Qing took the phone and looked at the photo on the screen.

The photo was taken stealthily, but it clearly showed a group of people standing on a boat, brandishing weapons and in a standoff.

He clicked the button to enlarge the photo and carefully observed the man surrounded in the middle.

When he saw the faint tattoo on the man's wrist, Ge Qing's gaze sharpened. "Ask him if he knows the boat's number in the photo."

After hearing the translated content, Team Leader Ge immediately turned and walked out of the interrogation room.

Ge Qing went to the lobby, immediately contacted the Kyoto Maritime Police and other departments, and then summoned the action team within the task force.

"Go to the equipment depot, get your gear, and prepare for action!"

"Yes!"

At the order, the entire action team moved quickly.

Ge Qing looked at Gao Fei, who was observing, and walked up to pat his shoulder. "Wait patiently. You'll be meeting soon."

"Meeting? Meeting who?"

"You'll know soon enough."

Gao Fei frowned in confusion, utterly perplexed.

Ge Qing said no more, chuckled, and turned to walk away.

Two minutes later.

Led and commanded by Ge Qing, the action team members departed.

Gao Fei glanced at the entrance of the task force and suddenly said to the two guards watching him, "Colleagues, I've been playing on my phone and drinking tea all day. Can I use the restroom?"

The two exchanged glances, then led him towards the restroom.

...

Kyoto waters.

A fishing boat was sailing against the wind and waves on the sea.

The fishing boat was only fifty nautical miles from the high seas.

In the dark compartment of the boat.

The light bulb overhead emitted a dim, yellow light, making the small space very dark.

Yu Min lay with his eyes closed, leaning against the ship's plank floor. Beside him was a small table, on which lay the pistol he carried during his escape, along with food and fresh water.

*Thump! Thump! Thump!*

Footsteps sounded from outside the dark compartment. Yu Min's eyes snapped open, and he alertly picked up his pistol.

"Boss Yu, we just passed inspection. There are still over forty nautical miles to the high seas. There will be Maritime Police inspections then, so just act normal. Once we reach the high seas, you can come out!"

The captain's voice came from outside.

Yu Min put down his gun, sighing in relief. "Got it. Seal the door!"

"Okay, remember to open the dark window!"

"Will do!"

The sound of the door being sealed came from outside the dark compartment, and after a few minutes, the captain's footsteps disappeared from the cabin.

Seven or eight minutes later, the ship's speed slowed and stopped.

At first, Yu Min thought it was a Maritime Police inspection. He turned off the lights and hid in the darkness, not paying much attention.

However, after ten minutes passed and the fishing boat still hadn't resumed its voyage, he felt something was wrong.

He opened the dark window in the cabin and looked out. The sea was pitch black, and he couldn't see where the fishing boat was stopped.

Yu Min took out his phone and glanced at it. There was no signal coverage in this area.

At the same time, he noticed that the virtual phone app he had previously downloaded had mysteriously disappeared.

The text messages he had used to contact Gao Fei had also been mysteriously deleted.

The next second, the screen flickered twice. When it lit up again, Yu Min's phone had been completely formatted, rendered useless.

"Gao Fei, I'll curse your ancestors!"

Yu Min roared in anger, wanting to break down the door.

But the door to the dark compartment was completely sealed, and the latch was secured with an iron lock.

Suddenly, the sound of a helicopter hovering high above the fishing boat could be heard from outside.

In the darkness of the sea not far away, faint red and blue lights flickered, approaching the fishing boat.
