Chapter 47 Identification

Early in the morning, Liu Yifeng brought back the crawfish he had purchased from the breeding farm.

During this period, the crawfish grew particularly fast and sold just as quickly.

Du Ziheng had even rented several more stalls specifically to sell more.

After emptying all the crawfish into the pond, Liu Yifeng, while his uncle had his back to him, secretly sprinkled in the Revival Powder. Fortunately, his uncle didn't notice.

Once that was done, he left the rest to his uncle and went ashore, heading home.

However, as he reached the middle of the road, preparing to cross to the other side,

he saw a black sedan speeding towards him.

Just as he was about to be hit, Liu Yifeng froze in fear, unable to move.

Just as he thought he was going to be hit, the sedan slammed on its brakes, stopping a mere ten centimeters away from him.

Liu Yifeng gasped for breath, relieved to have survived. Before he could ask the driver what was going on,

the driver rolled down the window, looking at him with a furious expression.

"Didn't you see the car coming? And you're still walking in the middle of the road. Are you tired of living? Get out of the way!" the person said sternly.

It was clearly the driver's excessive speed, but somehow it became Liu Yifeng's fault.

Seeing that the other person was wearing a uniform from the regulatory bureau, Liu Yifeng, not wanting trouble, said nothing and moved to the side of the road.

It wasn't that he was afraid, but he didn't want to cause himself trouble or waste time.

Seeing that Liu Yifeng had yielded, the other person rolled up the window and drove off.

The matter would have ended there, but the car didn't go far before it stopped.

Liu Yifeng saw them stop by the side of the road where he raised crawfish, and a sense of foreboding washed over him. He stopped, wanting to know what these people were up to.

A moment later, three enforcement officers emerged from the car and strode confidently towards the pond.

They soon stopped by the edge of the pond where Liu Yifeng raised crawfish. Liu Chasheng, who was feeding the crawfish, felt a pang of fear as he saw the imposing figures of the enforcement officers. He hadn't done anything illegal, had he?

"What is this about?" he asked nervously.

The man in the lead, wearing glasses, produced his identification: "Hello, we are staff from the Food Safety Supervision Bureau.

Someone has reported that you are illegally raising and selling crawfish.

We need to conduct safety tests on your crawfish."

"Our crawfish are naturally raised, and there can be no safety issues," Liu Chasheng said hurriedly.

"Whether it's safe or not, it's not for you or us to say. We need to test your water and your crawfish."

With that, he gestured to the two men behind him to take samples, while one of them began recording the scene.

Seeing such a grand display, Liu Chasheng was too scared to even breathe.

Just as he was wondering whether to call Yifeng, he saw Yifeng approaching and hurried to meet him.

"Yifeng, these people are from the Food Safety Supervision Bureau. They say someone reported us for illegally selling crawfish, and now they want to test our crawfish and water. What should we do?"

"Uncle, don't worry, I'll handle it," Liu Yifeng reassured him.

Meanwhile, after taking the water samples, they filled large baskets with crawfish from the pond, one basket after another.

If it were just for testing, a few crawfish would have been enough.

But they were taking three large baskets, which Liu Yifeng had never seen before.

As the men prepared to leave with the crawfish, Liu Yifeng blocked their path: "Gentlemen, even for testing, is there any need to take so much?"

The man with glasses glared at Liu Yifeng and said fiercely, "If you obstruct our enforcement, do you believe I can arrest you for interfering with official duties?"

"I have the right to know why you are taking so many crawfish," Liu Yifeng said expressionlessly, showing no fear.

"You are raising so many crawfish to sell. If they reach the market and are found to contain harmful substances, it would be a major incident.

Therefore, we must test as many crawfish as possible. Do you understand? Now get out of the way!" The man with glasses pushed Liu Yifeng.

Liu Yifeng continued to block their path: "You say you are from the Food Safety Supervision Bureau. I demand to see your work IDs."

"Here, this is my work ID," the man with glasses impatiently threw his ID at Liu Yifeng.

Liu Yifeng looked at the ID. He had never seen this type of work ID before and couldn't tell if it was genuine.

However, his gut feeling was that these people didn't seem like they were from the supervision bureau; they seemed more like impostors.

Using the guise of the supervision bureau, they were openly plundering.

"Have you seen enough? Don't disrupt our work.

Furthermore, until we have determined if there are any issues with the crawfish, you are not permitted to sell them privately. Otherwise, we will arrest you and send you to jail."

The man with glasses delivered a harsh warning, snatched back his ID, and prepared to leave.

"Until we have investigated and determined the detailed results, these crawfish must remain in the pond! If you dare to sell even one, we will arrest all of you!"

The leader finished speaking and was about to lead his subordinates away.

"Why should you arrest us? I haven't stolen or robbed anyone. Is this how you enforce the law?

I think you're less like law enforcement officers and more like robbers." Liu Yifeng said righteously, his expression filled with indignation.

"Kid, do you know what you're saying? Do you want to eat prison food? How dare you slander law enforcement officers!" The man with glasses pointed at Liu Yifeng's head and cursed.

"This is public threat, and I can sue you for it too," Liu Yifeng retorted fearlessly.

Seeing the escalating tension, Liu Chasheng hurriedly advised, "Yifeng, as the saying goes, the common people don't fight against officials.

If you still want to sell crawfish, don't oppose them. Let them take the crawfish for testing. We have nothing to hide."

"Uncle, this isn't about being afraid or not. This is just the beginning. Moreover, I've never heard of testing crawfish by dragging them away in baskets. What else could they be but robbers?" Liu Yifeng refused to back down.

While he disliked causing trouble, he was not afraid of it.

As the saying goes, the kind are bullied, and the gentle are ridden over.

If he compromised today, the other party would only think he was easy to bully.

"Hurry up and move, or I'll call the police right now and have you arrested. Then all your crawfish will be impounded, and you won't be able to sell a single one." The man with glasses lost his patience.

Liu Yifeng smiled nonchalantly, "Alright, then call them. I want to see if the police will arrest me."

"Yifeng, are you crazy? Although the Supervision Bureau and the police are different departments, they are related. If the police really come, they will surely side with the Supervision Bureau," Liu Chasheng said anxiously.

He might not be afraid, but he didn't want to be arrested in his old age.

"Uncle, rest assured, they won't dare to call the police," Liu Yifeng said with certainty.

There's a saying: dogs that bark don't bite.

If these people were truly law enforcement officers, they would have called the police long ago instead of talking so much and still not having made a call.

This means they are definitely not law enforcement officers and therefore dare not call the police.

As for why these people would impersonate law enforcement officers to rob him of his crawfish, it was likely because someone was jealous of how well his crawfish were doing and how much money they could make.

So they deliberately found people to impersonate them to disrupt his business.

However, he didn't know who was behind it.

But he was sure that these people were impostors.

Therefore, he was gambling, betting that these people wouldn't dare to call the police.

The man with glasses hadn't expected Liu Yifeng to be so fearless. He had intended to scare him with the threat of jail, so he could easily take the crawfish.

After a few days, he would present a fake testing report and, under the guise of enforcement, seize all the crawfish.

Then he could make a fortune, but who knew he wouldn't be afraid at all.

This put him in a difficult position. If he really called the police, his true identity would be exposed.

If he didn't, it was obvious he wouldn't be able to take the crawfish, and how would he continue to hinder him?

"Young man, I advise you to be sensible. Our enforcement department is also humane and doesn't want to arrest you and send you to jail over this matter.

We will take the crawfish for testing. If there are no problems, your crawfish can be sold.

But if you obstruct our work, it will delay not only our time but also yours. If the crawfish die by then, we will not compensate for the losses." His tone softened considerably.

But Liu Yifeng wasn't buying it: "What, you're not calling the police? If you won't call, I will.

I trust the police to enforce the law impartially. If they say it's my fault and you take so many crawfish, I will have no complaints.

But if you are fake law enforcement officers, then it will be you who get arrested." Liu Yifeng sneered.

Originally, he wasn't completely sure if these people were fake.

But after hearing the words of the leading man with glasses, he was certain that these people were impostors.
