Chapter 1 An Extra Son

Liu Village, nestled by mountains and water, was a good place, a paradise apart from the world.

It was an ordinary day, but an extraordinary event had drawn many villagers to the village entrance.

"Did you hear about the Liu family's news?"

"How could we not? Liu Chunsheng's son, almost thirty and still unmarried, suddenly had a son brought to him today. They say he was born four years ago with a woman."

"I saw the child. He's very handsome, not like Liu Yifeng at all. Perhaps someone is just using him as a stepping stone!"

"Only Liu Chunsheng is foolish enough to be preparing a banquet to welcome his grandson."

...

As soon as the news broke, it became the village's main topic of gossip.

At this moment, in the living room of a red brick house, a large person and a small person were staring at each other.

Liu Yifeng looked at the fair-skinned little boy, as exquisite as a doll, and felt a headache coming on.

He was still holding the paternity test report, which indicated that Liu Tongtong was his biological son.

To be honest, in his twenty-eight years of life, he had never seriously dated, let alone had physical contact with anyone.

The only time he could recall having physical contact with a woman was four years ago, shortly after graduation. Unable to find a good job, he'd gone to a bar to drown his sorrows.

When he woke up, he saw a celestial beauty lying beside him, completely naked.

Although he didn't remember what happened the night before, seeing the scene, he knew he had slept with her.

Little did he know, as soon as he offered to take responsibility,

He was berated by the woman, called a toad wanting to eat swan meat, and a penniless loser.

Finally, she threatened him not to speak of the matter and left in disgust.

After the woman left, he noticed the red stain on the bed and realized it was also her first time.

Two strangers had given their first time to each other like that.

Now, four years later, a son of over three years suddenly appeared. The only person Liu Yifeng could think of was that woman.

This left him with mixed feelings. Logically, he should be happy about suddenly having a son.

But with a son like this, what woman would be willing to marry him?

Wouldn't he be a bachelor for life?

"What are you spacing out for, boy? Are you dazed with happiness?" Liu Chunsheng, Liu Yifeng's father, walked over.

"Tongtong, I'm Grandpa. Come on, call me Grandpa. Grandpa has candy here." He produced a lollipop from somewhere.

"Dad, do you think this little thing, so fair and tender, looks like me?" Liu Yifeng asked curiously.

As soon as he finished speaking, Liu Chunsheng smacked him hard on the forehead: "Are your eyes blind? Can't you see how much the child's eyes resemble yours?"

Liu Chunsheng had a loud voice, naturally booming.

"Tongtong, Grandpa's voice is loud. Did I scare you just now?" Liu Chunsheng leaned down, his voice much gentler, looking at his grandson with affection.

The reason he was so sure this child was his grandson was not just the paternity test, but the child's resemblance to Yifeng when he was younger. He was certain.

"Hello, Grandpa!"

At this moment, Liu Tongtong looked at Liu Chunsheng and called out innocently and brightly.

This made Liu Chunsheng's heart bloom: "My dear grandson is also good. What a well-behaved child. Here's some candy, eat it." He unwrapped the lollipop and handed it to Liu Tongtong.

Liu Tongtong took the lollipop, said thank you, and began to eat it.

Liu Chunsheng looked at the child, liking him more and more, and said joyfully, "In three days, I plan to invite everyone in the village and all our relatives to a meal so they can all meet my grandson."

"Dad, inviting the whole village for a meal is quite an expense. Do you have that much money?" Liu Yifeng asked.

Frankly, judging by the house, his family wasn't very wealthy. Although it was already 2010 and many people had built two or three-story houses,

Their house was still old. After working outside for a few years, he could barely support himself. Although he sent money to his parents, it wasn't enough to build a new house.

Their savings weren't much either. To host the entire village would mean twenty tables if they invited each household, and relatives and friends would come with their families.

This would probably add up to thirty tables, not to mention buying cigarettes, alcohol, and candy.

That would cost at least thirty to forty thousand, and he remembered their savings were less than thirty thousand.

Liu Chunsheng immediately replied, "Don't we still have a few pigs at home? I'll sell them, and we'll have money."

Without further ado, he pulled out his phone and contacted someone to buy the pigs.

Seeing his father's resolve, Liu Yifeng had nothing more to say. He turned his gaze to the little one.

Tongtong was looking at him, his eyes as if they could speak, blinking charmingly.

To be honest, he felt a sense of unfamiliarity towards this son who had suddenly appeared and didn't know how to interact with a child.

His knowledge of Tongtong was limited to a letter and a paternity test report.

Tongtong had been delivered by a man in a suit and sunglasses.

After dropping Tongtong off, he said nothing, handed Liu Yifeng a letter and a paternity test report, and left.

The letter contained Tongtong's birthdate and his name, but no information about Tongtong's mother.

Therefore, to this day, Liu Yifeng knew nothing about the woman, not even her name.

It was clear she wanted no further involvement with them.

So far, he hadn't spoken a single word to the child.

Just as he was about to speak, Tongtong's voice rang out first: "Are you Daddy?"

His voice was young and sweet, but pleasant to hear.

His question made Liu Yifeng's throat dry. The child had grown so old without experiencing fatherly love; he had indeed failed him.

After a long pause, he nodded gently: "I am Daddy. Daddy will take good care of you from now on." As he spoke, he gently stroked Tongtong's head.

Liu Tongtong then hugged Liu Yifeng tightly, softly saying, "Daddy, I missed you so much. I used to ask Mommy where you were, and Mommy always said you were dead. I didn't believe her, and she wouldn't say anything more, so I knew she was lying."

Hearing Tongtong mention his mother, Liu Yifeng felt a surge of curiosity: "Tongtong, do you know why Mommy sent you here?"

Tongtong shook his head: "Mommy was very busy every day, sometimes not home for months. Last night, she suddenly asked if I wanted to find Daddy. I said yes, so today she arranged for a bodyguard to bring me here."

Liu Yifeng never expected that this child not only lacked fatherly love but also couldn't enjoy maternal love like a normal child.

What kind of job did this woman have that kept her away for months at a time?

No wonder Tongtong wasn't sad or cried when he left his mother.

"Tongtong, from now on, Daddy will take care of you. Whatever you wish for, Daddy will make it come true." Perhaps due to the bond of blood, he felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to the child.

Thus, he dismissed the idea of another paternity test, certain that this was his son.
