Instinct made her subconsciously wrap her arms around the man’s waist.
Lu Jinyang looked at the woman in his arms with a smile in his eyes. He hadn’t expected such a gesture to bring him such enjoyment.
The kitchen air suddenly became quiet, filled only with their breathing.
Xiao Qing closed her eyes and pressed against the man’s chest, feeling the strong and powerful beat of his heart, and for a moment she forgot to let go.
After a while, seeing that she had no intention of letting go, Lu Jinyang couldn’t help but speak up, "Have you hugged enough?"
The next second, Xiao Qing recoiled sharply, walking out without a word, lips pressed tightly together.
"The bowls aren’t put away properly yet."
Xiao Qing’s figure soon reappeared in the kitchen, quietly took the bowls, put them away, and walked out again.
Lu Jinyang watched her with amusement and followed her out.
Just as Xiao Qing settled down on the sofa, she saw the man follow her out, sitting next to her. She felt a little awkward, her intent to stand up and go back to her room was halted when the man suddenly called out to her.
"You’ve seen the paternity test results. Is there nothing you want to say to me?"
Xiao Qing looked up, "Say what?"
"For example..." Lu Jinyang looked at her, his eyes growing darker, "like discussing what to name Bao Bao and Xiao Bao."
She thought the man would say something else, and was utterly surprised by what he had brought up.
However, it really was time to decide on names for Bao Bao and Xiao Bao. Otherwise, they might feel uncomfortable being given last-minute names when school starts.
"Hmm, we should indeed decide on the names. I’m not good at this; you should do it."
Having said that, she saw the man watching her with a smile, to which she responded with a puzzled face, "What are you laughing at?"
"I’ve heard from Xiao Bao that you plan to let their daddy name them."
"Yes, is there a problem?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Xiao Qing realized she had fallen for Lu Jinyang’s trap and was momentarily speechless.
"Are you trying to say, because I know I am their biological father, that is why you’re letting me name them?"
The smile on Lu Jinyang’s lips deepened, "Something like that."
Watching the man lean back lazily on the sofa, Xiao Qing fell silent.
She realized that the more they interacted, the less this man hid his shameless side. After contemplating for a moment, she said to Lu Jinyang:
"Mr. Lu Jinyang, I don’t know what problems we had in the past, nor why I ended up pregnant with your child, but if you don’t mind, I hope you can establish a fatherly image in front of Bao Bao and Xiao Bao, because they’ve always longed for a father."
The man’s expression grew more solemn at her words, and as soon as Xiao Qing finished speaking, Lu Jinyang spoke in a deep voice, "Are you saying that, other than being a dad in front of Bao Bao and Xiao Bao, I don’t need to do anything else?"
He intended to be more than just Bao Bao and Xiao Bao’s daddy!
"Yeah, what else did you want to do?"
Lu Jinyang stared at Xiao Qing and her innocently clueless face, suddenly moving closer to her, "So you’re saying, you’re just looking for a biological father for the children, not a husband for yourself?"
"That’s two different things."
After saying this, Xiao Qing began to sense something was off; she glanced at Lu Jinyang only to find him staring at her without blinking. His intense gaze made her scalp tingle, and she instinctively moved backward.
However, for each step back she took, he edged closer, until he cornered her in the sofa’s nook.
Xiao Qing, alarmed by his intimidating advance, quickly put her hand on his chest, "Don’t come any closer, don’t come any nearer."
