Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Gu Yan, It’s Me
"Gu Yan!" Tang Yuxiu called out, his voice echoing in the empty and quiet office, but no one responded for quite a while.
He continued searching inside, calling out from time to time, yet no one answered.
Gu Yan, trapped in the piano room, felt increasingly cold, her nose itched a bit, and when she sniffled lightly, she found her nose was blocked.
Her throat also felt itchy; she wanted to cough but forcibly held it back, not daring to make a sound.
What to do, it’s freezing, and her cold had relapsed, it was so uncomfortable, she felt there was no way she’d make it through the night.
When people can’t see hope, they tend to become extremely pessimistic. Earlier, she could still fantasize about someone finding her here, but now she was too tired to even think about it.
If she didn’t make it through the night, she wondered what would happen to Tang Yuxiu. She used up a million of his money and hadn’t even allowed him to exercise a single right of his as a patron to his mistress before dying; surely, he would be furious.
Would he be so angry that he’d dig up her grave to violate her corpse?
Gu Yan found that thought amusing.
Sigh, hopefully, Tang Yuxiu would be well in the future and could change his temper a bit.
He was due to be promoted to President at the end of the month, with a bright future ahead. If she died, she wouldn’t have to worry about someone discovering he had a mistress and ruining his reputation anymore.
She really was kind-hearted, still thinking about him at this time.
Just thinking that she wouldn’t be able to argue and banter with Tang Yuxiu in the future made Gu Yan feel a sudden pang of regret and loss, mixed with a bit of sadness.
She hugged herself tightly, ignoring the fear, sniffled, and her eyes felt a bit swollen.
If he were alone without her in the future, he’d have to eat, sleep, and work all by himself again.
Many times she felt Tang Yuxiu was very lonely, his life too dull.
She could really relate to that feeling of being alone—it was really tough to endure, and even if one got used to it, a deep sorrow and helplessness always surfaced in the quiet of night.
Her whole being was filled with desolation.
Hopefully, Tang Yuxiu would find a beloved, good girl who could stay by his side forever.
Gu Yan thought sourly and just the thought of another woman being by Tang Yuxiu’s side in the future made her feel uncomfortable.
Hmph, and it had better not be that Nie Rong, she didn’t like her.
Lost in her thoughts, Gu Yan suddenly faintly heard sounds outside the door, now and then.
In this extremely quiet and dark situation, any sudden sound was utterly terrifying!
Gu Yan’s heart tightened suddenly, her breathing became cautious, and she was like a startled bird, her eyes wide with fear, instinctively wanting to flee.
But with the slightest movement, she realized her legs were numb, a sharp pain shot through her at every attempt to move.
Helplessly, she had to hold her breath, her whole body rigid.
The sounds outside came closer, but Gu Yan still couldn’t hear clearly what they were, it seemed like talking, and also someone walking.
In such a context, Gu Yan’s mind instinctively drifted to scenes from horror films.
A mad killer was outside, and once discovered, she’d die a miserable death.
Or perhaps there was some vile thing wandering outside, and if it found her, she’d still die miserably.
She was on the verge of tears with no tears to shed, not daring to even let out a breath.
Tang Yuxiu arrived outside the piano room and saw a key on the door through the light from his mobile.
He knew Gu Yan loved playing the piano and had been focusing on preparations for the assessment a week later; she could lose track of time practicing.
Could she be inside?
Tang Yuxiu speculated this while reaching to turn the key.
Hearing the sound of the lock turning outside, Gu Yan swallowed hard, even forgetting to tremble.
Don’t come in, don’t come in, don’t come in!
Gu Yan was so scared she nearly fainted.
In such a situation where she had no idea what would happen next, she was completely immobile, just a weak woman. If she really was unlucky enough to encounter some deviant killer, she truly would be doomed, without even a chance to escape.
Tang Yuxiu turned the lock, unaware of how frightened she was inside.
Turning it twice, he realized the door was bolted from the inside.
He frowned slightly. Although he didn’t often manage entertainment department matters, he knew the piano room was for employees to practice in and always had a key on the door; who would bother to lock it?
He suddenly thought that Gu Yan might be inside, locked in by someone.
Turning the lock open, he pushed the door, the light from his phone entering the piano room first.
Gu Yan had been in the dark for so long that suddenly seeing a not-so-bright light didn’t at all make her feel the path ahead was bright, but rather filled her with discouragement and despondency.
He’s coming in, he’s coming in!
Her death was near!
Tang Yuxiu pushed the door open all the way and slowly walked in step by step.
He turned around and faced Gu Yan, who was huddled by the door, the light from his phone shining on Gu Yan’s face, she screamed in fear!
"Ah!" Her voice carried obvious fear and a sense of release.
Tang Yuxiu was taken aback, suddenly lowering his head, he saw Gu Yan by the wall.
She curled up into a ball, her hands covering her face, her head turned to the side, appearing very scared.
At that moment when he saw her, Tang Yuxiu unexpectedly felt a sense of relief.
He found her, she was here.
Tang Yuxiu quickly walked over, squatted in front of her, and reached out to touch her.
Her reaction was intense, she immediately closed her eyes and frantically swung her hands, shouting hoarsely, "Go away, go away!"
Damn it, the perverted murderer should just die far away or give her a quick way out, just don’t touch her!
Tang Yuxiu’s eyes were calm as he firmly grasped Gu Yan’s flailing hands and spoke in a deep voice, "Gu Yan, calm down, it’s me!"
A familiar voice suddenly reached her ears, and Gu Yan was startled, opening her eyes and quickly turning her head.
Tang Yuxiu’s familiar and pleasing face was right in front of her.
Gu Yan widened her eyes, filled with disbelief, was she dreaming? Was she hallucinating from being so scared?
How could she see Tang Yuxiu? Did he really come to find her?
"Tang, Tang Yuxiu?" She cautiously called out.
Tang Yuxiu looked into her eyes, his heart tightened, and he nodded, "It’s me, Gu Yan, don’t be afraid."
Hearing his answer, Gu Yan’s eyes instantly reddened, she suddenly threw herself into his arms, her voice choked with sobs, "Tang Yuxiu, you finally came! Do you know how scared I was, I was terrified! I thought I would never see you again."
She cried out, recklessly venting the fear in her heart.
Tang Yuxiu held her tightly, her body was cold, devoid of any warmth, his heart ached, his big hand gently soothing her back, "It’s okay now, I’m here, there’s nothing to fear."
Gu Yan clung tightly to his neck, her head buried in his chest, her tears soaking his suit, yet he didn’t feel a thing.
"I thought you’d be mad at me, having dinner with colleagues so late and not returning, you wouldn’t think to come find me."
Tang Yuxiu’s heart twisted, yes, he almost thought she was like that, even suspected she was meeting Qin Junnan behind his back again.
Luckily, he learned from last time’s lesson, calmed down and thought more.
Otherwise... how long would it have taken him to find her?
If he had a heart of stone and didn’t search for a night, she’d have to stay in this dark and cold place all night!
"I came late," he said softly, with a hint of self-blame in his tone.
If he had called her right then, not waiting and wasting time, realizing sooner something was wrong, she could have waited here less and endured less fear.
Gu Yan just cried, he was not late, as long as he came, it was never too late.
"Tang Yuxiu, cold," she murmured softly in his arms.
Only then did Tang Yuxiu react, letting her go, taking off his suit jacket to cover her up, wrapping her tightly.
By the dim light of his phone, he gazed at her tear-streaked face, "How is it, feeling any better?"
Gu Yan slightly nodded, sniffled, "My legs are numb, rough going, take me home quickly, I don’t want to stay here."
"Okay." Tang Yuxiu nodded, lifted her in his arms, and left the piano room briskly.
You Shuyang had already come over when he heard Gu Yan’s scream, waiting outside all along.
Seeing the two come out, he immediately illuminated the path for Tang Yuxiu.
Gu Yan kept her head buried in Tang Yuxiu’s embrace, smelling his unique cool fragrance, feeling incredibly safe.
At her most fearful and helpless moment, this man appeared, neither angry at her, nor scolding her, nor hitting her, only worried for her.
She felt a warmth in her heart, the chill in her body seemed to start warming up too.
At that moment, it felt as if something had changed.
After leaving the company, Tang Yuxiu carefully placed Gu Yan in the front passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and instructed You Shuyang, "Call Xiang Linghao to the villa," then got into the car to take her home.
You Shuyang immediately called Xiang Linghao, "The young master orders, go to the villa quickly."
"What happened again?" Xiang Linghao asked, now on duty at the hospital, asking as he took off his white coat.
"Miss Gu ran into some trouble."
Xiang Linghao raised an eyebrow, "Trouble again? What exactly is Tang Yuxiu doing, putting a perfectly good girl into trouble time and again."
You Shuyang got into his car and said, "This time it’s not the young master’s fault, anyway, come quickly, I’ll explain when you get here."
He hung up the phone, started the car, and followed Tang Yuxiu’s Bugatti.
Xiang Linghao grabbed the medical kit, still puzzled over what happened exactly. It’s not Tang Yuxiu’s fault, then who else dared to mess with Gu Yan?
That person must be thoughtless and seriously bold, to dare touch Tang Yuxiu’s woman.
On the way back to the villa, Tang Yuxiu asked Gu Yan, "Hungry? Want to eat something?"
Gu Yan tilted her head against the seat back, listlessly looking at him, "No appetite."
Tang Yuxiu slightly frowned, "You haven’t eaten all night, I haven’t eaten either, accompany me for something."
Gu Yan also knitted her brows, seemingly really not in the mood to eat, but after a moment of silence, she slightly nodded, "Alright."
Tang Yuxiu rarely smiled, then began looking for an open restaurant along the roadside.
