Chapter 110: Not a Battle, But a Massacre

Chapter 110: Not a Battle, But a Massacre

Alucard waited for two days, occasionally killing scouting and patrolling soldiers from the Strale Kingdom for replenishment. He even eliminated a secret reconnaissance team from the opposing Exeter Kingdom once.

However, even if they discovered their own people killed, neither kingdom would suspect a third party’s intervention; they’d simply assume it was the work of their enemy.

Finally, in the middle of the night, the alarm bell rang in the Strale Kingdom’s military camp. The shouts of sentries echoed from within: "They’re attacking! The enemy’s launched an assault, prepare to engage! Prepare to engage!"

Soon, everyone in the Strale camp was ready. They grabbed their weapons, quickly formed ranks, and swiftly advanced toward the enemy.

Cavalry, spearmen, infantry—several branches of troops moved forward in specialized, well-ordered formations.

However, most of the kingdom’s soldiers were ordinary people, at most professionally trained, slightly stronger commoners. They mostly relied on numerical superiority. If there were powerful Devil Fruit users or skilled Haki users present, the entire battle could be completely overturned, just like the war Alucard had intervened in previously.

"It’s my turn to act." Alucard rose from the ground, his body transforming into bats, and he rushed alongside the Strale Kingdom’s army towards the opposing forces.

In less than half an hour, the two armies met at a small river, barely waist-deep. The white-clad forces of the Strale Kingdom and the brown-clad forces of the Exeter Kingdom converged. With a command from their respective commanders, the soldiers on both sides roared and began their assault.

However, just an instant before their weapons clashed, the entire division of Strale soldiers directly facing them suddenly felt something swoop overhead. Their commander didn’t even have time to look up to see what it was. Before he could, a crimson shadow appeared before him, right between the two armies.

Alucard leaped into the water, splashing a large amount of spray. Whether it was because Alucard’s appearance was too striking, or for some other reason, both previously tense kingdom armies paused at his arrival, their eyes wide with disbelief as they stared at him.

"Hey! Who’s that?"

"I don’t recognize him."

"He’s probably not one of ours, so he must be theirs."

Many soldiers on both sides began to cautiously whisper among themselves. As they didn’t recognize Alucard, they instinctively assumed he was reinforcements for the enemy.

"Forget it! Attack! Kill this guy along with the Exeter forces!"

"Charge! Attack! This guy isn’t one of our soldiers, he’s an enemy, just like the Strale Kingdom!"

The battle, interrupted for ten seconds, resumed. Since Alucard was caught in the middle, many focused their attacks on him.

"Ability Release... Maximum Extent: Familiar Summoning." Alucard squinted, muttering in a voice barely audible even to himself.

Suddenly, Alucard’s body was covered by countless red eyes. The blood pool beneath his feet, his Hidden Shadow, began to solidify and rise into the air, transforming into two gigantic black dogs.

Baskerville!

"Dogs!?" Many soldiers’ first reaction upon seeing this scene was that word. But before they could do anything, their bodies were swallowed by the dogs. Blood and flesh were consumed by the Baskervilles.

No one noticed that as the Baskervilles devoured the soldiers, more and more crimson eyes gradually appeared on Alucard’s body.

"A Devil Fruit user!"

"He’s killing indiscriminately, without regard for friend or foe?!"

Seeing Alucard controlling the black dogs and relentlessly reaping the lives of both kingdom armies with his two pistols, everyone suddenly realized that this person was not from either side; he was a third party. And he possessed a special power.

"Shooong~"

After blowing a soldier’s head off, Alucard licked the blood from his face, an excited expression appearing. The sight sent shivers down the spines of the other nearby soldiers.

’Is he a devil?!’

"Attack that guy!"

"Kill him first, then continue the war!"

For a moment, although the two commanders didn’t communicate, they both made the same decision internally: eliminate this man who had suddenly intruded upon the war, otherwise the casualties would increase, and even their own lives would be at risk.

As the two commanders’ orders fell, the musketeers advanced and began firing at Alucard. However, even under such a hail of bullets, Alucard didn’t retreat an inch. He allowed the bullets to tear his body apart, leaving him riddled with holes, yet he still charged with all his might towards the densest groups of soldiers, taking their lives, drinking their blood, and replenishing his reserves.

"Monster... He’s a monster!"

When Alucard had killed nearly 30% of the combined forces and still instantly recovered from countless injuries, someone finally broke down.

They had survived battlefields and were fearless in the face of life-or-death struggles. They could face any powerful opponent, any difficult war, head-on. But this was no longer a war; it was a one-sided slaughter, a massacre!

How could they fight someone they couldn’t kill, only watch helplessly as their comrades died by his hand? What could be more despair-inducing than this?

"Commander! Commander! Order a retreat!"

"There’s no way to fight a monster like that!"

As the armies gradually collapsed and suffered Alucard’s relentless slaughter, after some time, someone finally defied military orders and pleaded with their commander to retreat.

There was no way to fight!

This wasn’t a battle at all; it was a unilateral massacre!
