Chapter 163: Chapter 163: You’re Jealous Too?
Summer Monroe’s face flashed with a hint of embarrassment, and then she looked at James Grant: "I’ve been wanting to discuss the cooperation with Director Grant, and by coincidence we meet today. I hope you will honor me with your presence."
She only invited James Grant, completely excluding Evelyn Clayton.
"Miss Monroe always prioritizes work, but today is a bit inconvenient." James Grant frowned in displeasure.
But Summer Monroe feigned ignorance: "What’s inconvenient about it? It’s just a brief discussion on cooperation, such a rare encounter."
Before James Grant could respond, Evelyn Clayton had already decided for him, "Since Miss Monroe insists on inviting, there’s a café right next door, Miss Monroe, please!"
Summer Monroe pursed her red lips and confidently walked ahead.
The four of them sat facing each other, and the atmosphere seemed a bit strange.
Summer Monroe spoke first: "If this cooperation can be achieved, I can concede five points to show sincerity. Director Grant, what do you think?"
Since sitting down, her gaze had consistently rested on the man’s handsome face.
"Miss Monroe is truly generous. Such a large profit cut, don’t you need to go back and discuss it in a meeting?" James Grant’s tone was indifferent, seemingly unmoved.
Evelyn Clayton tilted her head with a half-smile: "It seems everyone has a love for beauty. Director Grant, I’m sure Miss Monroe’s big concession is also because she’s dazzled by beauty!"
Due to a woman’s sixth sense, Evelyn Clayton saw the look in Summer Monroe’s eyes and felt a blockage in her heart.
Summer Monroe smiled without answering, directly took out a contract from her exquisite bag, and pushed it in front of James Grant, smiling.
"Director Grant, sign the contract, wishing for a happy cooperation."
Evelyn Clayton’s eyes darkened.
This woman even prepared a contract in advance, clearly today’s encounter wasn’t by chance, she came prepared.
This kind of windfall, no one would refuse.
However, after a moment of silence, James Grant spoke surprisingly, "Miss Monroe, I refuse the cooperation."
"Why..."
The two women present exclaimed in unison with remarkable tacit understanding.
"No reason, everything prioritizes the company’s interests."
After a pause, Summer Monroe still smiled gracefully, not only not angry, but with a glint of admiration and infatuation in her eyes.
"Director Grant is indeed a person who gets things done. It’s okay, don’t rush, you can think it over when you go back."
After speaking, she elegantly said goodbye and turned to leave.
Evelyn Clayton retracted her gaze and spoke indifferently: "Eldest Young Master Grant really does attract fortune at every step, with benefactors supporting him."
James Grant raised an eyebrow and looked at her with ill intent: "What? Are you envious? Or jealous?"
Evelyn Clayton was speechless for a moment, then found her voice: "That woman is willing to forgo such a large profit; I fear her intentions aren’t pure."
"Is this your way of showing concern for me?" James Grant’s phoenix eyes slightly narrowed.
"No, it’s just I’m afraid if The Grant Group collapses, I won’t have a place to work." Evelyn Clayton replied coldly.
After a moment of silence, James Grant changed the subject: "Don’t go out shopping with Marcus Sullivan anymore; it’s an eyesore for me."
"What, are you jealous?" Evelyn Clayton asked half-jokingly.
"Yes." The man’s answer was straightforward.
Evelyn Clayton couldn’t help but lift the corners of her lips, sipping the iced Americano in front of her. Even though it was bitter, she found it sweet.
But suddenly thinking of James Grant’s engagement with Lynn Yates, her expression darkened again.
"James Grant, you have no right to be jealous. You are now engaged to Lynn Yates and still entangled with Clara Yates. You should mind your own business."
Her words were sharp and piercing, yet they did not shake the smile in James Grant’s eyes one bit.
A hint of playfulness flickered in his eyes: "Oh... you’re jealous too?"
"I... I’m not. It’s just that as an acquaintance, I’m kindly reminding you, you’re supposed to marry her sister. Being entangled with the younger sister is inappropriate."
Evelyn Clayton’s words came out awkward and dry.
James Grant rarely showed his first genuine smile of the day.
"Who I want to marry, you should know very well."
James Grant retracted the smile from his eyes, his hawk-like gaze fixed on Evelyn Clayton, as if it could penetrate the heart.
Evelyn Clayton’s momentary unease made her voice almost waver: "Ridiculous!"
