Chapter 351: Attack Again

Chapter 351: Chapter 351: Attack Again

Evelyn Clayton’s vision started to darken, and the white light from the car headlights felt futile, flitting past like a fleeting flash of brilliance.

She heard someone shout urgently and angrily, calling out, "Evelyn."

In the next second, a figure rushed over and punched Matthew Sullivan in the face.

Like a drowning fish finding air, Evelyn Clayton breathed deeply as if she had survived a disaster.

She lay on her back, her eyes wide open.

A pair of warm hands lifted Evelyn Clayton up.

She turned her eyes, gradually recognizing the person in front of her.

"Franklin Ford..." Evelyn Clayton murmured and then couldn’t help but start coughing.

She looked towards the two trembling shadows and her pupils contracted abruptly upon recognizing one of them.

Was that James Grant?

Franklin Ford helped her sit on the ground and then rushed towards the two fighting men.

Soon, Matthew Sullivan was subdued, and James Grant, with a scratch at the corner of his mouth, swiftly pulled off his tie and tied Matthew Sullivan’s hands efficiently.

Matthew Sullivan was still being aggressive, "Let go of me!"

James Grant looked at him coldly, and after a while, turned his gaze to Evelyn Clayton.

The deep night flowed into his eyes, hiding his thoughts from view. Evelyn felt a cold wind blow, causing a kind of indescribable pain in her chest.

James Grant quickly withdrew his gaze, not wasting a word on Matthew Sullivan, and directly dialed the police.

Franklin Ford returned at this point, picking up Evelyn Clayton’s bag and scattered items from the ground before studying her.

Seeing the wound on her lip, the terrifying red marks on her neck, and the scratches on her knees, Franklin Ford frowned deeply.

"Get up, let’s go to the car." Franklin Ford’s voice was low, with a hint of soothing, "The police will be here soon, he won’t come out easily this time."

The police soon arrived and took Matthew Sullivan into the police car.

Surprisingly, Lynn Yates arrived at the scene as well.

Lynn Yates got out of the car, shocked by the scene, losing her usual cool and detached demeanor.

She glanced at James Grant, confirming he was unharmed, and then approached Evelyn Clayton.

"Are you okay, Evelyn?" Lynn Yates asked with concern, "Did Matthew Sullivan attack you?"

Evelyn Clayton nodded silently.

Her reluctance to speak wasn’t due to unwillingness, but because her throat was aching painfully, and her lip throbbed with discomfort.

Seeing this, Franklin Ford said softly, "Miss Yates, please check on James Grant, I’ll take Evelyn home."

Lynn Yates seemed uncertain but, recalling recent events, nodded in agreement.

If James Grant stayed longer with Evelyn Clayton, public perception might take a negative turn, adversely affecting Evelyn Clayton in the end.

A policeman arrived to examine Evelyn Clayton’s injuries, and upon seeing her condition, his expression became more serious, "The victim needs to come to the station for a statement."

James Grant’s gaze had lingered on Evelyn Clayton from the beginning, watching Franklin Ford helping her, observing their natural closeness, feeling as though a cold wind was piercing through his heart.

Upon hearing the police, James Grant coldly replied, "I’ll go with you, can’t you see she’s hurt?"

The policeman hesitated briefly, and Lynn Yates stepped forward, speaking to the officer in a low voice.

"No, even if it’s Director Carter..." The officer showed dissatisfaction, but Lynn Yates also hardened her expression.

"If necessary, I’ll call your chief myself," Lynn Yates said coldly, "We’re simply suggesting the victim should attend to her injuries first and then come to the station for a statement afterwards, not refusing to go entirely. Isn’t there room for flexibility?"

The policeman eventually compromised, leaving Franklin Ford’s phone number.

Franklin Ford assisted Evelyn Clayton to the car, and seeing this, James Grant instinctively stepped forward.

But soon, Evelyn Clayton didn’t spare him a glance, causing James Grant to stop in his tracks.

Lynn Yates watched coldly from the side, then after a while, approached and said lightly, "Let’s go."
