Chapter 212: Just for Work

Chapter 212: Chapter 212: Just for Work

James Grant lazily toyed with the silver ring on his ring finger, the ring reflecting a cold gleam, his thin lips devoid of any curve.

"Okay."

"James Grant, I hope you mean what you say and keep yourself in check."

Before leaving, Lynn Yates glanced back at him from the doorway, gave him a cold look, and then strode out of The Grant Group.

Still lounging lazily and carelessly on the sofa, James Grant’s eyes were inscrutable.

He slowly turned the chair, unable to hide his sharp aura which was fully displayed.

Just as Evelyn Clayton was about to enter, a voice came from behind her, "Evelyn."

She turned back to see Jasper Grant.

He stood silently behind her.

Evelyn Clayton frowned slightly, when did he arrive?

A baseless caution made her voice cold, "What are you doing here?"

Jasper Grant didn’t hide anything and directly admitted, "I saw my brother with Lynn Yates, but don’t worry, my brother certainly doesn’t like her."

Evelyn Clayton’s wariness eased a bit, and she withdrew her gaze.

"Who he’s with is none of my business, I’m just here for work."

With that, she waved the document in her hand towards him, her face unbothered, and then turned to walk into the office.

Jasper Grant followed her inside.

"Director Grant, I’ve completed Summer Monroe’s plan, please sign it."

Evelyn Clayton casually placed the document on the desk and then looked at James Grant.

He slowly swiveled the chair, his hands folded together, his dark eyes raised slightly as he watched her carefree demeanor, as if she towered over him.

James Grant didn’t say a word, the corners of his lips curled as he smoothly signed with a pen.

"Brother, you’re about to be engaged to the Yates Family, you must be busy preparing for the wedding. Dad said you can hand over the projects you’re holding to me, so that you can properly prepare for the wedding and not neglect the Yates Family."

What Jasper Grant said sounded pleasant, but to James Grant, it was of a different taste.

His slightly upturned eyes softened a bit, coldness flickered in his eyes, and the corners of his lips curved in a chilling, somewhat sinister manner.

Evelyn Clayton didn’t think he would agree, but he opened his mouth and softly said one word, "Okay."

Just now, the sinister air around James Grant vanished.

He seemed unrestrained and indifferent, almost making her feel like she had been mistaken.

"Alright then, I’ll go do the handover."

Jasper Grant was happy to see him agree, stood up, and left, making sure to close the office door behind him.

The office was left with only James Grant and Evelyn Clayton.

Once the door was closed, Evelyn Clayton relaxed a bit, leaning back in the chair like James Grant.

"It seems Harrison Grant wants to undermine our power in The Grant Group; he just told me to take a paid vacation."

Now it seems, Harrison Grant used the excuse of letting her rest similarly to how he let Jasper Grant take over all of James Grant’s projects.

James Grant sat casually, lighting a cigarette.

His angular face was obscured by the smoke he exhaled, and he softly said, "Doesn’t matter."

Whether or not he has The Grant Group’s projects at hand, he doesn’t care.

Whatever he wants is within easy reach.

Evelyn Clayton contemplated Harrison Grant’s actions, her brows furrowed with doubt, "Could it be he found out something?"

He held the cigarette with one hand, and sparks fell as his eyes looked hazy.

"No, but he has become wary of me, fearing I might single-handedly control everything and push him out."

Harrison Grant has always been cautious of the power held by the three Grant brothers, especially him, like guarding against a thief.

If he truly had found something, it wouldn’t be as simple as undermining power.

"James Grant, I can help you secure that position in the Grant Family."
