Chapter 389: Chapter 389: James Grant, Where Are You
Night falls, at The Riverbend Bar & Club.
Keith Donovan arrived early and waited a long time before he saw the figure of Tristan Hawthorne.
Tristan arrived fashionably late, dressed as meticulously as ever, looking more like he was attending a banquet than coming to a bar.
"Come on, man, can’t you arrive a bit earlier next time? And dressed like that to have a drink?" Keith said with a hint of annoyance, giving Tristan a playful punch.
Tristan sat down leisurely, poured himself a glass of white spirit, "Why blame me? James hasn’t arrived either?"
Before he finished speaking, a cold voice came from behind—
"I’m here."
The two turned to see James Grant walking into the private room with a stern look.
Keith chuckled, "Yo, I thought you’d be destitute after being kicked out of the family, but look, still looking fresh and sharp."
James couldn’t be bothered to respond to him, and drank by himself after sitting down.
"How could James be destitute?" Tristan laughed brightly, "I heard he just took over Thorne Holdings from Summer Monroe not long ago. He’s probably earning as much as your old man is now."
James neither confirmed nor denied, setting down his glass and flipping through the recent online news on his phone in silence.
Seeing the diverse online discussions about his departure from The Grant Group, James let out a sneer. His handsome face in the colorful lights was all the more captivating.
"Why not eat minced meat?" James sneered with a smile, "How amusing."
Keith, being an internet aficionado, was well aware of the variety of opinions about James floating around these days.
He smirked, "Don’t just look at that, check out other stuff. I’ve seen plenty of young girls online saying you look handsome and want to run into you by chance."
Tristan chuckled, "He’s just left the Grant Family, not living on the streets. Where would they run into him?"
James didn’t answer, quietly drinking his wine.
Keith finally couldn’t stand it anymore.
He moved over and snatched the glass from James’s hand.
"Tsk." James glared at him, displeased.
Keith spoke forcefully, "What? You thought I called you here just to drink? We need to talk business. Are you seriously planning to cut all ties with your old man?"
"Do you think I’m joking?" James looked indifferently at Keith, "When have I ever made decisions lightly?"
Tristan’s eyes carried a hint of amusement, "That’s debatable. Heard you were at The Ford Family’s heir’s memorial yesterday with your dad and saw Evelyn Clayton."
At this, Keith instantly had a look of realization.
He gave James a light punch, looking exasperated, "No wonder! Are you seriously leaving because of Evelyn Clayton? Dude, can you grow up? What era are you living in, giving up your family business for love?"
Keith’s words all carried one underlying message.
Giving up the entire Grant Group for a woman—it’s not worth it.
James couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, much less correct what Keith was thinking.
While Evelyn did influence his departure from The Grant Group, there was more to his own considerations.
Tristan saw James’s expression and smiled, trying to ease the tension.
"Alright, let’s not talk about that for now. James, what are your plans moving forward? Although Thorne Holdings is under your name now, getting rid of Summer’s old faction isn’t easy and will take a lot of time and effort. Have you thought about going independent?"
Tristan had long thought about teaming up with James.
James may have left the family, but that didn’t mean he was penniless. Starting anew would be easy for him.
To their surprise, James shook his head at these words.
His demeanor grew a bit more severe.
"I will fight with Summer to the end."
