Second Senior Brother

Chapter 842 The Man in the Windbreaker

Bai Zhannian couldn't withstand such teasing. His old face flushed red, and he didn't speak further.

Seeing his reaction, Bai Lin couldn't help but laugh. Why did Bai Zhannian look so strange, as if his innermost thoughts had been exposed?

With that thought, Bai Lin glanced at Chen Fan beside him and asked curiously, "Is it really the kind of relationship I described between you two?"

Chen Fan's temperament differed from Bai Zhannian's. Upon hearing Bai Lin's teasing, his expression changed instantly. He then said coldly, "We are merely cooperating. We are not well acquainted, so I have no intention of continuing to joke with you. Do you understand?"

Bai Lin grinned and then spread his hands, saying, "Alright, since you don't want to joke, I won't say anything more."

After speaking, Bai Lin turned around and continued, "I will inform you of the action plan next. You just need to follow my instructions. However, you must guarantee me one thing: if anything happens to you during the mission, it will have nothing to do with me."

"Alright," Chen Fan agreed heartily. He hadn't expected Bai Lin to do anything anyway. Even if the mission failed, it would only be his own affair.

In the blink of an eye, Chen Fan led Bai Zhannian away, and the group parted ways.

Bai Zhannian, walking beside Chen Fan, looked in the direction where Bai Lin had disappeared and then asked, "We're just going to trust Bai Lin like this? Aren't you worried she might set us up?"

"What can worrying about it now accomplish?" Chen Fan had already considered this possibility. He continued, "Even if she wants to scheme against us, she would need to involve Wang. Relying solely on Bai Lin to deal with us would be a pipe dream."

Saying this, Chen Fan grinned and added, "So, no matter what happens, we'll be the ones who come out on top in the end."

Bai Zhannian nodded. He was not concerned with these matters and only needed to follow Chen Fan's lead.

Chen Fan then said, "Alright, let's stop thinking about those things. I've heard the food in the Red Sun Country is quite good. Shall we find a place to try it?"

They had nothing else to do and needed to wait for Bai Lin's news. Moreover, in Chen Fan's opinion, Bai Lin wouldn't provide information anytime soon. So, for now, it was best to quietly find a place to rest and recuperate.

They had been busy all this time, but fortunately, all matters had come to fruition. Once they found the stone tablet, everything could officially begin. They could then follow the clues provided by the tablet to quickly locate the remaining divine artifacts. At that point, all problems would be easily resolved.

Upon hearing the word "food," Bai Zhannian immediately started smiling.

Since leaving the Daoist sect, he had developed a strong fondness for food. While other things didn't stir much emotion in him, he had to admit that the variety of food was indeed extraordinary. Bai Zhannian chuckled and said, "Great, shall we go try it now?"

Chen Fan shook his head and smiled. "I really don't know how you can be so gluttonous."

"That's because you don't know the life we used to live. It was truly bitter. Now that there's good food, we definitely need to properly indulge our stomachs."

Chen Fan didn't say anything further, clearly recognizing Bai Zhannian as a foodie.

Unable to resist Bai Zhannian's enthusiasm,

Seeing that it was still early, Chen Fan took Bai Zhannian to a restaurant with local specialties.

However, from a distance, a man in a trench coat was quietly observing Chen Fan and Bai Zhannian.

Bai Zhannian, eating the food in his hand, looked up and asked, "Do you think Bai Lin will believe in our strength?"

Chen Fan didn't think much and said no more, his gaze fixed on the distance.

Just then, the man in the trench coat sitting far away in the restaurant approached.

"Hello, this is my business card," he said, handing it to Chen Fan.

On the business card were five large, gold-embossed characters: "Knights of the Undead."

As Chen Fan saw the card, the atmosphere grew tense, and a sense of hostility arose. Of course, Bai Zhannian and the man in the trench coat also sensed this hostility. Bai Zhannian did not put down his food but still exuded an aura of readiness for combat.

"My friend, don't be nervous. I have no ill intentions. I've come to discuss cooperation." Seeing the situation becoming increasingly delicate, the man in the trench coat shivered slightly. After all, everyone knew how difficult Chen Fan was to deal with, especially with a top expert beside him.

"I know. You've been following us since we entered the restaurant, or rather, since we met Bai Lin, haven't you?" Chen Fan said with a smile, looking at the man in the trench coat.

"I hid so well, how could you still discover me? My goodness." The man in the trench coat hadn't expected his seemingly perfect disguise to be so easily seen through by Chen Fan.

"After all, who would wear such a thick trench coat in the sweltering heat and stand out in the open?" Bai Zhannian blurted out upon hearing the man's answer.
