Second Senior Brother

Chapter 442 The Matter Is Too Big

Chen Fan's reaction was similar. As he read, the old man's face changed dramatically.

This thing was incredibly dangerous, utterly appalling.

If the records above were true, the power of the forces behind it was terrifyingly immense.

And what was more, the authorities were completely unaware of such matters. At least the Dragon Head had never heard of it.

It even involved some high-ranking officials in the military!

Looking up, the Dragon Head said in a deep voice, "Where did you find it?"

"In the coffin of an old soldier in Qingyan Town!"

Chen Fan recounted the events of his search for clues.

The Dragon Head's expression turned grim.

He never expected that the incident three years ago had such hidden depths.

The uproar at the time had been so great, yet it had ended inconclusively, indicating that the power of the forces behind it had already reached a terrifying level back then.

If it corresponded to this list, everything would become clear.

"Has anyone else seen it?"

Chen Fan shook his head and said, "No one else besides me. Old Liang and the others must have seen it, but they've been dead for three years!"

The Dragon Head's expression was extremely solemn. "Too many people are involved in this. I can't make the decision. You stop for now and let me report it!"

"We can't stop!"

Chen Fan narrowed his eyes and said, "The forces behind the scenes already know I'm back in the capital, and they even brought out heavy weapons to try and kill me. I need to continue pretending to investigate!"

The Dragon Head was taken aback, then nodded and said, "Alright, but you can't touch the people on this list for now!"

Chen Fan had already considered this on his way. "There's no point in dealing with the small fry on this list. It will only alert the enemy."

"And dealing with the higher-ups will cause trouble!"

"But the clues are all here for now, and I have to continue. You need to act quickly!"

The Dragon Head said, "Don't worry. A matter of this magnitude will be decided very soon."

"This is no longer just your business!"

Chen Fan remained silent.

He had initially thought of exposing the mastermind behind the scenes. Now that the situation had escalated so significantly, he naturally wouldn't back down, but whether the official involvement would be beneficial was uncertain.

Firstly, the other party had too many people whom they had bribed, corrupted, or controlled, including families and individuals at the highest levels, making it easy for information to leak.

Secondly, it was unclear whether the authorities' intervention would become an obstacle for him.

"Don't worry."

The Dragon Head, knowing Chen Fan well, saw his expression and said in a deep voice, "I guarantee you that this matter will be handled with the utmost secrecy, and any actions taken will be according to your wishes!"

Chen Fan nodded and said, "I don't care about the people involved in this list. I want all the masterminds behind the Qingyan Town massacre to pay the price!"

"You will have your wish!"

The Dragon Head stood up, his tone resolute, and said, "The country we soldiers protect should not be like this, but should be a peaceful and prosperous era, a world of justice and order."

"Undefeated Heavenly King, you are never fighting alone!"

These words reminded Chen Fan of his comrades who had fought alongside him. He nodded with immense emotion.

"Let's go. In at most three days, you will receive a response regarding this little booklet!"

Others might not believe him, but Chen Fan had no reason not to trust the Dragon Head. He stood up and saluted, saying, "Then I'll go back to rest. You're getting old, you should rest early too!"

The Dragon Head chuckled wryly and said, "You're the one who stirred up this trouble and kept me from resting peacefully. Now you're saying such nice things, don't you feel hypocritical?"

Chen Fan grinned and said, "You're the only old man who speaks so bluntly. Alright, you should clock out early."

As he walked out of the building and got into his car, his phone rang.

It was Feng Qianluan.

Upon answering, Feng Qianluan's displeased voice came through, "Chen Tianjiao, you went to the checkpoint ghost market and caused such a big commotion, and you didn't even inform me?"

Her tone clearly indicated that she was holding him accountable.

Chen Fan was slightly taken aback and said, "You know?"

"Do you think our Feng family is just for show?" Feng Qianluan huffed. "You caused such a big incident, and it's not far from the capital. If we were unaware, wouldn't that make you look down on us?"

"That's not what I meant. It happened suddenly, and I didn't have time to notify you."

Chen Fan explained.

"Are you trying to fool a three-year-old?"

Feng Qianluan gritted her teeth and said, "Since we've formed an alliance, we have the right to know and participate. I must be involved in any future actions. Where are you now?"

Chen Fan frowned slightly.

While he had formed an alliance with the Feng family, he was still somewhat wary. Many matters were inconvenient for the Feng family to be involved in.

However, he still needed to leverage the power of the Feng family's martial arts masters.

Seeing Chen Fan's silence, Feng Qianluan became even more annoyed. "You didn't actually find any clues and not tell me, did you? Where are you now?"

Chen Fan felt a headache coming on. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Your Feng family's identity is a bit sensitive, and not discreet enough!"

"But you didn't tell me about the progress of the matter either. The culprit who killed my brother, I must catch them myself!"

"There's nothing going on right now. The next time I make a move, I'll notify you to come with me!"

Chen Fan said.

"That's more like it," Feng Qianluan said. "Don't worry, if necessary, I can hide my identity. Not many people in the capital know me."

"As long as you tell me in advance, it's fine for me to follow you alone. In fact, if necessary, I can temporarily keep it from my family, but I need to know the progress of the matter!"

Chen Fan was taken aback. This eldest daughter of the Feng family was quite reasonable.

"Alright, I'll bring you next time. If it's inconvenient, I'll let you know!"

"Then I'll wait for your call."

After hanging up, Chen Fan shook his head and drove home.

Upon returning to the courtyard, Chen Xing'er immediately began to scold him as soon as she saw him.

Having been in the capital for only a few days, Chen Fan had been absent for more than half the time, which made her very displeased.

Chen Fan let her lecture him, not feeling impatient, but rather a sense of warmth.

The next morning, Chen Fan called the cemetery to inquire about the situation. Knowing that reconstruction would be completed within three days, he felt relieved.

In the afternoon, he received a call from the Dragon Head, asking him to go to the Iron Blood Camp.

It seemed that the events of yesterday had already received a response. Chen Fan was somewhat surprised by the speed.

Of course, the matter involving the little booklet was too significant to be overstated.

He drove to the Iron Blood Camp and met the Dragon Head. The Dragon Head nodded at him and said, "Come out with me for a bit. We're meeting someone!"

"Meeting whom?"

Chen Fan asked.

"You'll know when we get there."

The Dragon Head said.

Chen Fan didn't comment and followed the Dragon Head downstairs and into his car.

The car drove out of the military compound and merged into the city traffic, eventually arriving at a well-known private dining restaurant.

Upon entering the restaurant, there were no other guests.

Led by a waiter disguised as a guard into a quiet private room, the Dragon Head chuckled and said, "You wait here for a moment. This old man is going to eat first, enjoying this restaurant's famous private dishes by taking advantage of his position!"

"What do you mean?"

Chen Fan said with dissatisfaction, "Old man, are you still being so secretive with me?"

"It's not that I'm being secretive, it's just that you'll understand when you see the person."

The Dragon Head chuckled and said, "Besides, you're the one who caused this trouble, so you can't blame me."

With that, he strode out of the private room and, under the escort of the guards disguised as waiters, went to another private room.

Chen Fan was momentarily speechless.

Just as the Dragon Head left, footsteps were heard at the door.

"Don't blame the Dragon Head. It's just that my identity is special, and I have to be discreet!"

A voice rang out, and a young man stepped over the threshold.

He wore a traditional and elegant Zhongshan suit, was tall and slender, with a gentle demeanor.

Behind him followed an elder with eyes that shone like lightning.

Turning back to signal, the elder stood guard outside the door.

Seeing this young man, Chen Fan's expression could not help but tremble!
