Chapter 410 The Clever One

Zheng Wei was a little upset. These two brats were like this: as soon as one was held, the other would definitely cry to be held.

Just as Zheng Wei was about to reach out to pick up Zheng Jiang as well, he saw a pair of delicate hands pick up Zheng Jiang.

Following the sight, he saw that it was Kong Huangwei.

Kong Huangwei held Zheng Jiang in her arms and met his gaze. Both of them had blank expressions.

Kong Huangwei had originally wanted to smile at Zheng Jiang, but seeing the little one staring at her incessantly with no expression on his face, she couldn't help but feel a little strange. So, she simply stared at Zheng Jiang, waiting for his next move.

Zheng Wei watched this scene, secretly surprised.

The third child never let strangers hold him. What was going on today?

Could it be that this was due to blood relation, and that's why he was so well-behaved?

After Zheng Jiang and Kong Huangwei stared at each other for a while, Zheng Jiang blinked and let out a sweet, toothless smile.

Then...

His little head moved forward, and he put his mouth to Kong Huangwei's cheek.

*Slap.*

A loud, wet kiss landed on Kong Huangwei's face.

Kong Huangwei suddenly felt something on her face, and then a wet sensation.

Looking at Zheng Jiang again, she saw that he was beaming with joy. His little hands were already in his mouth, and he looked at Kong Huangwei with utmost satisfaction.

Kong Huangwei was stunned for a moment, and then she smiled.

She reached out and gently tickled Zheng Jiang's nose, saying with a smile, "You little thing, you're so smart. Do you know I'm your grandmother, and that's why you're trying to curry favor with me? Huh?"

Zheng Wei watched this scene, his smile deepening.

What could make him happier than his own child getting along well with his own mother?

Oh, there was something.

It was a pity... Zheng Wei shook his head secretly, suppressing the thought deep within his heart.

Today was considered a good day, so he would put these thoughts aside for now.

Namuzhong had been standing by, watching all of this in a daze, feeling that her brain was not working fast enough.

"Little Evil Brother, what exactly is going on? Hurry up and tell me, what were you thinking about standing there alone?" Namuzhong said fiercely to Yizixie.

Yizixie responded with a hum and then trotted over to Namuzhong.

Although Yizixie wasn't entirely sure what was going on, he had at least heard a bit from Zheng Wei when they were outside.

So, relying on the little bit of information he knew, in the face of Namuzhong's anxious gaze, he spoke with a composed air.

However, Namuzhong had been with Yizixie for centuries. How could she not know Yizixie's character?

At first, Namuzhong listened attentively to Yizixie, and she felt that what he was saying was true.

But as she listened further, Namuzhong's face grew darker and darker.

After listening for a while longer, Namuzhong could no longer stand it and roared at Yizixie, "What nonsense are you spouting to me?"

Hearing Namuzhong's angry roar and seeing her furious face, Yizixie coughed awkwardly. "Well, although the latter part is my speculation, the former part is basically correct. If you don't believe me, just ask Zheng Wei."

After speaking, Yizixie looked at Zheng Wei with anticipation, secretly praying that Zheng Wei would be telepathically in sync with him and explain things properly to Namuzhong. He really wasn't spouting nonsense, at least not at the beginning.

Zheng Wei looked at Yizixie and then at Namuzhong with amusement. Under their intense gazes, he slowly spoke, "What Yizixie just said... is mostly correct."

Hearing Zheng Wei's words, Yizixie let out a long sigh of relief, then turned to Namuzhong with a smug smile and said, "How about that, Muzhong? I told you I was telling the truth. You didn't believe me, but now you do, right?"

Namuzhong gave a cold, sarcastic snort but said nothing more.

Zheng Wei watched their interaction and chuckled to himself again, then shifted his gaze to Kong Huangwei.

He saw that Kong Huangwei was still holding Zheng Jiang, her face beaming with a smile, murmuring to herself.

Zheng Wei listened carefully and soon heard what Kong Huangwei was saying.

She was just saying affectionate things to tease the child. Zheng Jiang was still young and didn't understand anything, but he liked the beautiful woman in front of him very much.

Seeing the beautiful woman always smiling at him, he kept smiling back at Kong Huangwei.

Looking at Zheng Jiang's bright smile and tender face, Kong Huangwei's mood improved further.

After playing with Zheng Jiang for a while, Kong Huangwei sat down with him. Soon after, she took Zheng He from Zheng Wei's arms.

She placed the two little ones on her thighs, one on each side.

Fearing that the children might fall, Kong Huangwei held them tightly in her arms.

After playing with the two children for a while, Kong Huangwei suddenly thought of something and looked up at Zheng Wei, saying, "Weren't there three children? Why are there only two here?"

Zheng Wei's eyes flashed with a hint of light upon hearing this, but he replied calmly, "Isn't there one behind you?"

Kong Huangwei heard this, turned her head to look behind her, and saw the wet nurse holding Sima Shuiron, and both of them were looking at her.

Seeing that she suddenly turned her head and caught her peeking, Sima Shuiron's wet nurse felt extremely embarrassed. The heat in her cheeks rose rapidly, making her lower her eyes a little shyly.

Kong Huangwei looked at Sima Shuiron for a moment, then turned to Zheng Wei and said, "This is not your child."

Zheng Wei's eyes shone even brighter, but he said with a hint of surprise, "Oh? How did you see that?"

Although the three children did not look alike, especially Zheng He, Zheng Jiang, and Sima Shuiron, who looked nothing alike, to outsiders, children of similar age, gender, fair and plump appearance, and similar clothing would probably look the same.

But Kong Huangwei, who was seeing these three children for the first time, could definitively say that Sima Shuiron was not one of the three children. This made Zheng Wei both surprised and delighted.

Could it be that this was really a matter of blood relation?

Regardless of Zheng Wei's inner musings, Kong Huangwei was eager to see the remaining little one and asked again, "What about the other one? Hurry and let me see. By the way, is it a boy or a girl?"

The smile on Zheng Wei's lips grew even brighter. He replied softly, "It's a daughter. Her nickname is Ruan Ruan, and she's in the west wing."

"Nickname Ruan Ruan?" Kong Huangwei unconsciously repeated Zheng Wei's words, and after a while, she finally processed what Zheng Wei had said.

The younger daughter had a nickname, but the two older boys did not. This made Kong Huangwei seem to understand something.

It seemed that her son doted on his daughter more.

After silently mourning for her two grandsons for a minute, Kong Huangwei looked up again and asked Zheng Wei with some curiosity, "Why is Ruan Ruan in the west wing? Hasn't she had her first birthday yet? Is it okay for her to sleep alone now?"

By the end of her sentence, Kong Huangwei's tone carried a hint of reproach, and she looked at Zheng Wei with some dissatisfaction.

Zheng Wei shook his head with a wry smile. It seemed that his mother also preferred girls.

It wasn't that she didn't like boys, but compared to healthy-looking, fair, and plump little boys, she always felt they weren't as healthy.

Therefore, unconsciously, she preferred the small, soft little girl, Ruan Ruan, more.

Thinking of Ruan Ruan being sick and wronged, Zheng Wei felt a little guilty.

Even though he was thinking, Zheng Wei still recounted Ruan Ruan's situation.

Kong Huangwei was startled by Zheng Wei suddenly standing up, feeling a little flustered. Did something happen to Ruan Ruan?

"Awei, did something happen to Ruan Ruan?"

Zheng Wei was confused by Kong Huangwei's question.

He was just recalling Ruan Ruan being sick and feeling a little guilty.

Why would Kong Huangwei suddenly ask like that?

"Ruan Ruan is fine. She's probably awake now," Zheng Wei replied.

Kong Huangwei's eyes lit up upon hearing this. "That's great! Let's go, let's go, let's go quickly!"

With two nearly one-year-old little ones sitting on her lap, Kong Huangwei was about to stand up when she heard the two little ones laughing heartily.

With a helpless glance at her lap, Kong Huangwei sat down obediently.

However, even though she couldn't leave for now, no one could stop Kong Huangwei from talking.

She looked at the scene before her with satisfaction, a faint smile on her face.

Suddenly, her smile seemed to stiffen, and she looked at Zheng Wei with a strange expression.

Zheng Wei was a little perplexed by Kong Huangwei's behavior. What was going on?

After looking at Zheng Wei hesitantly for a moment, she finally asked, "Where is the mother of these three children? Why is she sleeping with someone else at this late hour?"

As soon as Kong Huangwei finished speaking, Zheng Wei's face instantly turned dark.

Seeing that Zheng Wei's face had suddenly turned unpleasant, Kong Huangwei wasn't angry because of his attitude, but because his attitude made her vaguely understand something.

Seeing that Zheng Wei remained silent for a long time, even if Kong Huangwei was not as smart, she would have understood what was going on.

She opened her mouth, wanting to say something to comfort Zheng Wei, but in the end, she said nothing.

She knew that Zheng Wei didn't need those superficial comforts.

But, what exactly happened to the mother of these three children?

Perhaps sensing what Kong Huangwei was thinking, or perhaps she had been organizing her thoughts and considering how to speak, just as Kong Huangwei was about to give up, Zheng Wei spoke, "Shen Xiaoyan, the mother of these children, suddenly fell into a coma not long ago and has been lying in bed until today."

As Zheng Wei's voice fell, Kong Huangwei looked at him in surprise.

Something like this had happened? Then she really wanted to go and see.

Handing the children over to Namuzhong and Yizixie to coax them, Kong Huangwei stood up, walked to Zheng Wei's side, and asked him to go out with her.

Outside the east wing, Kong Huangwei asked Zheng Wei to tell her about the events before and after Shen Xiaoyan's coma, as well as the efforts made during this period.

After listening, Kong Huangwei also felt a little strange.

It didn't seem like there was any problem.

But why had the person fallen into a coma?

And what was going on with that muddle-headed old man?

Thinking that seeing is believing, Kong Huangwei decided to have Zheng Wei take her to the main house to have a look and then decide.

Zheng Wei hesitated for a moment, then took Kong Huangwei with him.
