Chapter 761 The Mindset

The little girl's ears, which were exposed from behind as she was lying down, made the men watching feel a pang of longing for a daughter.

However, being professionals, their attention was quickly drawn back to the matter at hand.

The meeting was dragging on, lasting for two hours. Throughout it all, the little treasure didn't fuss. When she got tired of drawing, she quietly sat up, opened the milk bottle Zheng Wei had prepared for her, and with her short legs kicked out, she contentedly watched the screen, holding the bottle. Her focused expression made it hard not to smile.

"Are you hungry?" During the five-minute break, Zheng Wei gently stroked her head and asked.

The little one shook her head, her cheeks puffed as she drank her milk.

"Drink slowly, don't choke." For the entire five minutes, Zheng Wei had been tending to his daughter, not even taking a sip of water himself. When he spoke to her, his stern demeanor vanished, replaced by a gentleness that filled the other men with envy. If only they could receive such tender treatment from their boss, they would die without regret.

"Daddy, you should drink some water too. Mommy says you mustn't forget to drink water." After finishing her milk with a gurgle, the little one pointed her chubby finger at Zheng Wei's water cup. Shen Xiaoyan often told him this when he worked late at home, and over time, the little one had learned it too.

"Alright," Zheng Wei smiled and picked up his cup.

The father and daughter's actions were almost in sync, and their features were strikingly similar. Assistant Hou watched the scene and felt a sense of… profound beauty.

"Wait a little longer, and when it's over, Daddy will take you home." Zheng Wei looked at his daughter's swaying ponytail and felt his heart melt.

"No rush," the little one kicked her legs. "Mommy said she'll pick us up."

"Yes, your mommy will come," Zheng Wei nodded and chuckled.

His wife would be here to pick them up soon, yet he felt an inexplicable sense of anticipation.

To Zheng Wei's surprise, after drinking her fill, the little one fell asleep. Since the small figure looked uncomfortable sleeping in the chair, he simply reached out and picked her up. The little one was very familiar with his embrace. She let out a soft sound, shifted, and nestled into a comfortable position in his arms. Zheng Wei, holding his daughter with one hand and typing with the other, had Assistant Hou's eyes shining.

Today's meeting had been quite stimulating for everyone, and by the time it concluded, the little princess still hadn't woken up. Zheng Wei gestured for everyone to be quiet, and they all understood, carefully and quietly leaving the conference room with their laptops, making not a sound and without disturbing the sleeping princess.

Zheng Wei looked back at Assistant Hou and nodded towards the laptop on the table. Assistant Hou immediately understood and helped carry the laptop, freeing up his boss to tend to the little princess without worry.

Once everything was arranged, Zheng Wei walked out of the conference room, still holding his sleeping daughter.

However, before he could even get back to his office with the little one, he saw Assistant Hou, who had just left, returning.

"Boss, the front desk said the Madam has arrived," Assistant Hou quickly reported the news to Zheng Wei.

"Yes, I know," Zheng Wei nodded. He decided not to go back, choosing instead to wait with his daughter by the elevator.

Shen Xiaoyan had just finished her work in the studio, which was not far from here, and she hurried over to see her husband and daughter.

She had expected Zheng Wei to still be in the meeting, but to her surprise, as the elevator doors opened, she saw the father and daughter standing by the entrance.

"The meeting is over?" He now liked to share his daily schedule with her. Shen Xiaoyan smiled and looked up at her husband.

Zheng Wei casually put his free arm around her slender waist and replied. As he finished speaking, the little girl in his arms opened her eyes.

"Daddy." The little one blinked, still a bit groggy, as if half-asleep. She mumbled and rubbed her head against Zheng Wei's neck, calling out sweetly.

"Wake up, Mommy's here," Zheng Wei lowered his head and nuzzled his daughter.

Upon hearing that Mommy was here, the little girl suddenly lifted her head. Though she wasn't fully awake, it was an instinctive reaction.

"Is your arm numb?" Shen Xiaoyan immediately noticed something was wrong with Zheng Wei's arm. This man had likely held his daughter without moving his arm for who knows how long. She sighed and reached out to take the little one.

"My wife is so considerate of me," Zheng Wei chuckled, finally getting a chance to move his slightly numb arm.

"Do you want to rest for a bit? We can head home later." His arm was numb now, which would affect his driving.

Zheng Wei smiled and, with Shen Xiaoyan and their daughter, headed to his office.

...

After the family entered the office, in the adjacent manager's office.

Old Shen beat his chest and lamented, "How could this be? I always thought a boss like him would remain single until forty. But now he has a wife and such a cute little daughter. He's nothing like the domineering CEO I imagined."

"Indeed, I also thought the boss would never settle down for any woman," everyone in the office nodded in agreement.

"If matters of the heart were that easy to predict, would they still be so elusive?" Assistant Hou said with a sigh. "Marriage is arranged by heaven."

Assistant Hou's imitation drew a wave of nausea from the others.

He chuckled. As the boss's closest confidant, he actually knew the boss's relationship with his wife had been complicated before. But it seemed like, by a mere coincidence, the boss's mindset had changed. It was precisely because of that car accident that the boss now had such a happy life.

Therefore, aside from "heaven's arrangement," Assistant Hou could find no other suitable explanation.

Shen Xiaoyan discovered she was pregnant two weeks later.

At that time, Na Muzhong had been hospitalized again due to threatened miscarriage. Shen Xiaoyan had intended to visit her, but she was intercepted by Zheng Wei and taken for a check-up, which indeed confirmed her pregnancy.

Upon seeing the ultrasound report, neither of them showed much surprise. After all, this was within their expectations.

"Mr. Zheng seems very calm this time." The doctor who gave them the results was an old acquaintance. When Shen Xiaoyan was pregnant last time, Zheng Wei had been almost frantic. But this time, he was so calm it was almost too much. Even for a second child, one wouldn't expect such composure.

"After all, he's a father now, he can't be as flustered as before," Zheng Wei smiled. However, the doctor could still discern a hint of something in Zheng Wei's eyes.
