Chapter 48 Impure Spiritual Power

In a magnificent courtyard.

A little boy ran quickly. Although his delicate face was covered in scars, it couldn't dampen his current good mood.

He seemed to be clutching something in his hand.

He trotted to a pavilion.

Inside the pavilion, built of snow-white marble, sat a little girl, all the scenery fading into the background for her.

The little boy, seeing this, stood frozen for a moment. After two minutes, he tidied his appearance, fearing he might startle this earthly sprite. Feeling he was presentable, he strode towards the girl.

"Fei'er, Fei'er, look what I brought you today," the little boy said, holding out his small hand to the girl like an offering.

But the girl opposite seemed not to see the boy before her, her gaze vacant, looking at some distant point.

"It's a butterfly, look how beautiful," the boy, unperturbed by the girl's indifference, continued to speak to her.

He placed the butterfly, held in both hands, into the girl's palm.

The peculiar sensation on her hand caused a flicker of surprise in the girl's pupils, but it was fleeting.

The boy sitting opposite naturally saw it. His eyes filled with joy, wanting to jump up and shout, to tell everyone, but he eventually quieted down, fearing he might startle the girl. He refrained from any excessive actions.

"Fei'er, I can't come to see you tomorrow. That old man is sending me to the army. I still wanted to stay until you could talk to me. It seems I won't have the chance. But when I return next time, you must talk to me! We have a promise."

As he spoke, the boy reached out and somewhat assertively pulled the tip of the girl's finger forward, making a hook.

After the pinky promise, the boy sat contentedly opposite the girl, quietly accompanying her.

But such happy times pass quickly. Before long, the boy was taken away by someone. As he left, he kept looking back at the girl in the pavilion.

The girl merely glanced coldly at the boy before turning her eyes elsewhere.

The sky remained as quiet as ever.

Then, the scene shifted to a photo of a beautiful girl and a cold, distinguished man.

They were entering the hall of marriage together.

"Fei'er, Fei'er." Lin Hao, who had been unconscious, woke up abruptly from his dream upon seeing this scene and sat up.

His eyes scanned his surroundings.

A cave.

He had thought it was that place.

The insects, who had been observing Lin Hao, immediately swarmed around him when they saw their cub awake, their scarlet eyes blinking at him.

The insects, who had been diligently building houses, suddenly sensed their administrator's sadness and immediately thought of their cub.

They stopped what they were doing and rushed to see their cub.

Because the cub was the most important!

They were also afraid that something might happen to their cub.

"My King, are you alright?" Elfa approached Lin Hao and looked into his dark eyes.

When the King had collapsed into his arms, Elfa felt as though his heart had stopped and he had forgotten to breathe.

Fortunately, there was still a heartbeat.

He thought he was going to lose him again.

Fortunately.

He was still here.

Lin Hao looked into Elfa's eyes and shook his head, saying, "I'm fine."

He had simply remembered something.

"My King, are you really alright?" Xi'er also came to Lin Hao's side and squatted down to ask.

"I'm truly fine." Lin Hao looked at Xi'er, who was worried about him, and explained carefully. He knew they cared about him.

Lin Hao noticed the fish next to Xi'er, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. He wondered how it had gotten in.

And how it had managed to get Elfa's consent.

"I'm really fine. I just haven't been resting well these past few days, which is why I fainted. Please carry on with your tasks."

Lin Hao said to them.

At Lin Hao's insistence, the insects returned to their work, leaving only the fish and Lin Hao in the cave.

Lan Jiaruo had originally intended to leave with Xi'er, but his princess did not like him to follow.

So he was left behind.

He silently gnawed on his handkerchief, wondering why the princess didn't like him.

Boo hoo hoo, was he not handsome?

After Lin Hao saw them leave, he stared blankly at his surroundings, lost in thought.

Lan Jiaruo casually glanced around.

He suddenly felt bored here, finding it less fun than being in the water.

He plopped down on the ground, propping his chin with his hands and looking at Lin Hao.

He suddenly thought of something and turned to Lin Hao, saying, "Your mental power is impure."

Lin Hao, who had been daydreaming, suddenly heard this and turned to look at the fish sitting not far from him, asking, "How do you know?"

His mental power had recovered well since his rebirth. Although it couldn't return to its peak state, he was certain that his mental power was pure.

Besides, how could mental power be impure?

It wasn't as if someone else was inputting mental power into him.

Hahaha.

Lan Jiaruo looked at the still-distracted Lin Hao and casually replied, "Racial talent."

This statement truly made Lin Hao fall into deep thought, because he knew that merfolk had a special ability to sense the mental power of others.

Things that normally required machines to detect could be seen by merfolk, who would immediately know what was wrong.

Therefore, this accidental discovery further accelerated the demise of the merfolk.

"Is it really impure?" Lin Hao asked tentatively, still somewhat uneasy.

Upon hearing this, Lan Jiaruo looked at Lin Hao seriously, his bright eyes flickering.

He then continued, "Your mental power contains two other people's mental powers. However, these two mental powers do not harm you; in fact, one of them is even protecting you."

Lin Hao was truly startled by this revelation.

He knew that there was a soul oath from his son within his mental power, but who could the other mental power belong to?

And why had he not felt anything at all?

"Can that mental power be removed?" Lin Hao asked Lan Jiaruo.

He didn't want another person's mental power to reside within his sea of consciousness. Regardless of whether it was protecting him, this mental power was a potential threat.

For the sake of the bug race, he could not have any danger, even a potential one.

"Why remove it? That person's mental power is very strong. It has already infiltrated yours. If you forcibly extract it, you will suffer mental breakdown."

Lan Jiaruo's eyes widened immediately upon hearing Lin Hao's words, questioning the bug king before him.

"Oh, I see," Lin Hao said after hearing Lan Jiaruo's words, giving up the idea of separation.

This matter would have to be considered at length.
