Chapter 26 Rejected

After hearing Xier’s question, Lin Hao softly replied, “I want to live in peace with humans.” He also didn’t want to be a salted fish; his last thought remained in his heart, unspoken. After all, based on his careful observation these past few days, if he said such a thing, a swarm of bugs would surely rush forward and deliver an eight-hundred-word speech.

The topic of the speech would be "Oh, My Dear King," "My King is So Great," "The King is So Busy," and a series of madly flattering programs. After all, the entire race were sycophants.

It was better to bring up peaceful coexistence. After all, for the future of the bug race, it was best not to become enemies with humans.

Upon hearing this, Xier took a step back in disbelief. The previously calm and collected eyes were instantly filled with incredulity, her mind racing. Why, why was this happening? Why had the King reincarnated, yet not encountered humans? Why did he still say the same words as before?

Why was this happening?

Her mind gradually recalled past scenes. Before her stood a girl of incomparable beauty. The girl’s golden hair fluttered in the wind, and the falling petals became her backdrop. The girl skipped ahead, and after walking for an unknown time, she suddenly turned, smiling at Xier and saying, “Xier, Xier, let’s live in peace with humans. Fighting is too painful, I really dislike fighting. And, and I hope you can live happily.”

Xier solemnly nodded at the girl.

But the scene shifted, and she saw the girl vanish in an explosion. Fire filled the sky, and a piece of clothing drifted towards Xier, as if bidding her a final farewell.

She would forever remember the girl in the wind, the words she spoke, and the fiery sky that day.

While Xier was still in shock, Alph came up to Lin Hao. He looked down at the boy before him and spoke the first words that defied his nature.

“I disagree.”

“Why?” Lin Hao’s eyes held a hint of surprise. After all, the bug race unconditionally obeyed all the bug king’s commands. This was the first time he had been refused, and it was truly astonishing.

“No reason, it’s just impossible.” Alph’s eyes remained fixed on Lin Hao’s appearance, and then he walked out of the cave.

This was the first time Alph had spoken to him like this. Lin Hao stared blankly at his receding back.

Xier snapped back from her heavy memories. She had naturally heard Alph’s words from beside him. She naturally agreed. They could not lose their King again, and absolutely no dangerous actions could occur.

“King, I disagree too,” Xier said and also walked out.

She feared that if she stayed there any longer, she might not be able to control her changing thoughts.

So, it was better to leave sooner.

The bugs in the cave saw their leaders leave. Their eyes met, and finally, they followed their leaders out.

Although they didn’t know why their leaders were defying the King’s wishes, they could sense the leaders’ concern for the King. For matters beneficial to the King, they had no right to interfere.

Lin Hao looked at the empty cave. A sense of emptiness instantly filled his heart. No one was left; he was alone again.

For a moment, he felt as if he had returned to that night.

Lin Hao woke up, ignoring the pain in his body, and sat up, looking around. He realized he was in the infirmary. As he tried to get up, he noticed a heavy weight pressing down on his blanket. Looking down, he saw Qin Mohan asleep by the bedside.

His mind went blank for a moment.

Who am I? Where am I? And why is he here?

Why is he looking at me sleep?

What kind of horror movie is this?

His eyes darted to the side. Huh? That white flower on the table looks familiar.

Mmm.

Right, didn’t he and his son pick it together? Why is it here?

Then he remembered that this flower seemed to be what he tearfully made Qin Mohan accept.

Ugh, this is so awkward.

Lin Hao looked down at Qin Mohan, who was sleeping, and said in his heart, “Thank you.”

You are the first person who didn't dislike me and accepted my flower. Thank you so much.

He then lifted the blanket that Qin Mohan was pressing down, and with his injured body, he walked out of the infirmary. At the doorway, he glanced back at the balloon flower on the table and then gently closed the door.

The whole school was in class, so his disheveled appearance was not seen by anyone.

He slowly walked to the school gate, ignoring the security guard uncle who tried to stop him, and walked straight out.

He reached the street corner and looked at the passing vehicles and the joyful faces of people. For a moment, he didn't know where to go. In any case, he wouldn't go back to that place. Besides her, it seemed no one wanted him there.

Heh.

Thinking of this, Lin Hao suddenly let out a cold laugh.

A person like him had no meaning to exist at all.

“Beep beep beep.” At this moment, the Star Net in Lin Hao’s pocket suddenly rang. Lin Hao picked up the Star Net, and his face instantly darkened when he saw the remark on it.

He pressed the answer button, and a female voice came through, “Young Master, the Master is asking if you are coming back?”

“I’ll return.”

“Okay, Young Master.” Then came the sound of the line disconnecting. The other end of the Star Net hung up.

He had to go back to that place after all, Lin Hao thought, looking down at the Star Net in his hand.

He casually found a taxi by the roadside, gave an address, and sat in the back seat, closing his eyes. After all, he had reached his body's maximum limit; every cell was urging him to rest.

After an unknown amount of time, Lin Hao was woken up by the taxi driver. He looked out the window, his gaze somewhat lost as he looked at the scenery before him.

He had arrived.

He transferred the money to the driver and got out of the car.

He looked at the house before him.

Ignoring the surrounding scenery, he walked straight to the main door, opened it, and everyone greeted Lin Hao.

They were very polite today.

He walked into the living room and saw a man sitting there. The man looked at Lin Hao without speaking when he saw him return.

“Why did you run out at noon?” After a few minutes, the man finally spoke.

“Hahaha, why shouldn’t I run out? Should I stay here and let you beat me to death?” Lin Hao sat down on the sofa not far from the man.

“So, you still don’t admit you were wrong?” The man put down the newspaper he was holding, crossed his hands, and stared directly at Lin Hao, saying.

“What could I possibly have done wrong? I just wanted to pick some flowers for you. Is that wrong?” Lin Hao stood up and shouted at the man opposite him.

He only picked a few flowers, why didn’t they like it? If they didn’t like it, why punish him? By what right?

“You can pick flowers, but why were you with that kid from the Hu family? Don’t you know the Hu family’s influence?” After Lin Hao’s outburst, the man’s mood also soured, and he spoke with a bad temper.

Influence, influence again. For the sake of this, you are really calculating everything.

“It wasn’t me who sought him out; he followed me himself,” Lin Hao said.

“Still unrepentant, go to the confinement room immediately,” the man, still not hearing Lin Hao admit his mistake, pointed to the side and shouted.

This time, Lin Hao didn’t argue further. He walked to the confinement room himself.

He lay back and stared at the ceiling. Although his eyelids were heavy, he had no desire to sleep at all, only endless loneliness.

He wondered if he would have turned out differently if he hadn't returned with them back then.

Lin Hao turned over, burying his face in the soft quilt, feeling the warmth of the sun left on it.

But it was still so cold.

The quilt no longer smelled of sunshine.

There was also water.
