Chapter 21 Familiarity

Li Huan, who had been skeptical at first, now completely believed that the boy resembling a rabbit was indeed the king of the Insectoid race after witnessing Lin Hao stop the conflict between the two strongest forces of the insectoids with just a single sentence. He didn't seem as ferocious as the rumors suggested, and was even a little cute.

He really wondered what the expressions of those old figures from the Federation and the Empire would be if they knew that the Insectoid King, whom they thought they had eliminated ten years ago, had been reincarnated. The thought of it made him excited.

Li Huan's slightly pale face gradually regained its color as he thought about it, becoming as rosy as a peach, making one want to take a bite.

This was precisely Bai Chen's thought at the moment. Bai Chen looked at his childhood friend opposite him, whose expression was like that of a cunning little fox. He could tell from his eyes that he was plotting something mischievous.

Looking at his vibrant childhood friend, Bai Chen felt as if a pile of cats were scratching at his heart.

He longed to possess all of his expressions.

This thought suddenly appeared in Bai Chen's mind, and his thoughts became a tangled mess. After a moment, his breathing quickened, and he immediately turned away, no longer looking at his childhood friend, for fear that the silly boy would shy away from him if he saw his current gaze.

No hurry.

It's not time yet.

Li Huan suddenly felt a chilling gaze upon him. He immediately got goosebumps and quickly looked around, trying to find the person. He wanted to team up with Bai Chen for a combined attack.

Then they'd see if anyone dared to look at him like that again.

However, after looking for a long time, he still couldn't find the person. He then noticed Bai Chen lowering his head. He walked over and asked Bai Chen, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Are you hungry? I still have some pig's trotters here. Would you like to eat some?"

Just as he was self-reflecting that his thoughts were morbid, his childhood friend came closer, shaking his already unsteady resolve.

Ah, I really can't do anything about you.

I was about to give up.

Why did you suddenly come over to care about me?

You're the one who came closer first. If something happens later, you can't blame me.

After all, they aren't part of the Empire, so they don't have to obey them.

Bai Chen tidied up the expression in his eyes, hiding his obsession, and returned to his original demeanor. He looked up at Li Huan and said, "I'm fine."

The emotions in his eyes seemed to have changed, but the oblivious fool opposite him noticed nothing.

At this moment, Lin Hao looked at the injuries on the faces of the two people and felt a pang of sympathy. He walked forward, gently caressed their wounds, and asked, "Does it hurt?"

He felt the coolness of their skin under his hand.

"No," Elfar and Xier answered simultaneously.

Their hearts completely softened. Since they had gained consciousness, no one had ever cared for them like this. It was a peculiar feeling. They saw the concern in their King's eyes, so of course, they had to say it didn't hurt.

"Really?" Lin Hao asked doubtfully, looking at the two of them. After all, he had witnessed the entire battle. If he hadn't stopped them just now, he could sense that they were capable of killing each other.

"Really, King," Xier said, looking at her King. She didn't care about these minor injuries, which were not even one-tenth of her previous ones. If she were to cry to the King over such small wounds, could she still maintain her position as the commander of the Navy?

Elfar nodded at Lin Hao, indicating that everything was fine.

Lin Hao still felt a little pained looking at the wounds. He lightly tapped each of their heads and said, "If you get hurt again next time, don't come looking for me."

The two on the opposite side were stunned by Lin Hao's tap and then quickly nodded.

They indicated that they understood and promised not to hurt themselves again and upset their King.

Lin Hao glared at them as they made their promises, then turned and walked towards Huahua. Huahua obediently bent down, allowing Lin Hao to sit on its head. Its tentacles gently wrapped around Lin Hao's body.

"Let's go back."

The two commanders were still stuck in the moment when their King had grunted at them.

Their minds were flooded with the thought, 'So cute.'

Rila saw all of this and her mind was also flooded with thoughts.

King, so cute.

"You two follow along properly," Rila said, turning back and smiling at Li Huan and the others before quickly catching up with the King's entourage.

Li Huan and his companion exchanged glances, then resignedly followed at the rear of the Insectoid procession. Why didn't they run away?

Don't be ridiculous. With the two major commanders present, what was there to run from?

They might as well enjoy the beautiful scenery before they died. The trees were incredibly tall and lush, unlike anything Li Huan had ever seen before.

Consider it a paid vacation.

Li Huan thought with ease. For some reason, the moment Li Huan saw Lin Hao, he felt that the person in front of him would not harm them. He felt a desire to rely on him, as if they had known each other for years.

As Li Huan pondered this, a commotion erupted ahead again.

Curiosity killed the cat.

Li Huan knew this truth. Who wouldn't be gossipy these days?

Then he bent down and crept forward, finding a good spot to watch.

He instantly found some sunflower seeds in his spatial storage and began to eat.

"You're letting the King live in a place like this?" Xier almost lost her temper when she saw the dark cave. However, upon seeing the King's expression, she remembered what they had just said about not fighting.

Elfar did not reply, standing beside Lin Hao with a cold expression, showing no desire to converse.

"You speak," Xier said again, facing Elfar's displeased face after he remained silent. Since she could remember, Xier had hated his sullen expression the most, as if everyone owed him a great debt.

Lin Hao's head began to ache as he watched them bicker again. He raised his hand and gently rubbed his forehead, saying to Xier, "It's not Elfar's fault. He also suggested changing places, but I myself didn't want to leave."

"King, why don't you want to leave here?" Xier asked, walking up to Lin Hao when he finally spoke.

"Hmm, perhaps I was born here. I've grown attached to this place, so I don't want to leave," Lin Hao pondered Xier's question carefully. He touched his chin and found it smooth, then pouted before answering Xier.

"But this place is really too rudimentary," Xier said after hearing Lin Hao's explanation, still voicing her opinion. The King was noble and deserved the best. He should have lived a carefree life from birth to adulthood. What kind of life was this?

"It's alright, Xier. This place is quite good," Lin Hao said softly, understanding Xier's concern for him.

Xier eventually listened to Lin Hao's words.

"King, what do you think of the two humans I brought back?" Xier suddenly remembered that the King hadn't eaten yet and could have them.

"This... let's talk about it next time." Lin Hao's gaze flickered. He really didn't want to eat humans.

He'd just try to stall for now.

"Okay, just let me know when you want to eat," Xier said.
