Yuan Tong

Chapter 14 Remote Little Village

He put down the phone, stunned and lost in thought.

In the past, he would have likely dismissed the call time of zero minutes and zero seconds and the strange caller ID as a glitch in his phone, then thought nothing of it and gone about his day. But now he was in a highly sensitive state.

Looking at the two abnormal housemates sitting in the living room, secretly competing with each other while also eagerly awaiting food, he realized that his life had completely deviated from the norm. Things that had always been considered after-dinner chatter and urban legends might be real, some mythological stories might be real, and even some mind-blowing works that only appeared in movies… were also real.

Hao Ren was already very sensitive, even so sensitive that even a single extra meow from the little tabby cat named "Gun" at home would be considered a sign of something. So, when he recalled the unconventional phone number from earlier, he felt a chill run down his spine. And more importantly—he remembered that he had never applied to any import-export trading company!

That's right, he had sent out a lot of resumes, applying for all sorts of jobs, including two that recruited male escorts and one that recruited pet psychotherapists (heaven knows what that profession is). But he definitely had not applied to any import-export trading company! Because Hao Ren knew his education and expertise very well. He was a weirdo who needed to use a calculator to buy a bunch of celery, so how could he dare to go to any trading company… to be sold by the pound?

In Hao Ren's mind, import-export trading companies were roughly the same as the small supermarket at the entrance of the alley. That was about the extent of his knowledge.

"Landlord? Landlord, you're spacing out!" Lily's startling voice came from beside him. Hao Ren quickly snapped back to reality, nodded at the two abnormal creatures, "Oh, a company called to tell me to go for an interview this afternoon..."

"Landlord, don't worry, I'll watch the house for you!" Lily raised her paw happily and waved it, as if she had encountered something good. "I'm best at watching the house, I guarantee you won't lose anything!"

"Such dog-like remarks." Vivian never forgot to make a sarcastic remark to this lifelong enemy, and every taunt hit the nail on the head. However, Hao Ren still wanted to say: you're so poor and down on your luck, can you please stop acting high and mighty? Do you think you're worthy of your vampire identity!

Lily glared at Vivian, but then tossed her head back, indicating that she didn't care at all: because her stomach was growling again. This quickly cleared her anger and entered a state of steadily decreasing combat power, weakly趴 on the table and looking at Hao Ren, "Landlord, hurry up and cook, after I eat I'll help you watch the house..."

Hao Ren was slightly dazed: did he find two tenants or two ancestors? He had been a landlord for so many years, and this was the first time he had seen tenants who could be so familiar!

But soon he attributed everything to the cultural differences of different races and laughed it off. Anyway, he couldn't deal with these two other-worldly girls. In order to stabilize his future life, it was king to build up their favorability—so that at least when Lily and Vivian fought again, he would have the confidence to yell at them a few times: as their landlord and feeder.

Hao Ren finally managed to feed the two otherworldly girls, and in the process confirmed that Vivian did eat normal human food, finally putting the last stone in his heart to rest. And getting all of this done was already eleven o'clock. Obviously, he could skip lunch, and just let the vampire and werewolf eat some snacks themselves to tide them over until dinner. Of course, considering that the unlucky Vivian was now penniless, and Lily would never share her food with Vivian (canines are protective of their food), he specifically went out and bought a box of biscuits and threw it to Vivian, moving the poor vampire girl to the point where she almost shed tears… what was that about!

Due to the habits of vampires, Vivian needed a long time to sleep during the day, so after eating, she went to the room on the second floor to tidy up the room and prepare to rest. Lily was most energetic during the day, and she had to guard the gate on the first floor to help watch the house. The two were finally separated because of their respective racial habits. Hao Ren didn't have to worry about them demolishing the house while he was away, which allowed him to go to the address provided by the mysterious woman for the "interview" with a little peace of mind.

That's right, despite his many doubts, Hao Ren decided to go and see what was going on. Anyway, what was coming couldn't be avoided. If that woman was also related to the "aliens" he had encountered in the past two days… then he definitely couldn't avoid it. Just look at the combat power of Vivian and Lily, this was not a field that ordinary people could play with by thinking—besides, his brain might not be smart enough.

Of course, he also considered taking Lily with him, but after thinking about it, he didn't do so. First, he had only known Lily for two days, and the werewolf girl was a bit simple… well, actually, she was just a bit dumb, but being a bit dumb wasn't a reason to bully people at will. Relying on that little bit of trust to drag Lily to various dangerous environments as a shield was really not justifiable (letting her live at home before to guard against a vampire ambush was a last resort); second, Hao Ren was also a seven-foot man, a dignified man, and just because he had encountered some strange things in the past two days, he was so nervous that he had to take a girl with him as a bodyguard even when going out for an interview… could he still live if this got out?

So, he decided to bite the bullet and go see what was going on.

While standing next to the bus stop waiting for the bus, he couldn't help but think of Vivian and Lily's… "alien" forms again, muttering to himself, "Is it really okay to leave them at home?"

To be honest, Hao Ren had been in the landlord business (if this counts as a business) for several years, and he had seen all kinds of tenants. People from all walks of life had lived in his big house. The most important thing for a landlord was to distinguish whether the tenant was reliable, whether they would be dangerous elements or simply thieves and scammers—there were many examples of renting a house and attracting thieves, resulting in heavy losses. Of course, Hao Ren didn't have to worry about the two superwomen at home being the latter, because he knew… the superwomen at home were much more dangerous than the latter!

Was it a mistake to leave them at home with such peace of mind? Would he see a ruin when he got home? Would he see more than two hundred heavily armed SWAT? Would he see a motorcade from the Chinese Academy of Sciences filling up the southern suburbs? Would he see two Americans in black suits and black sunglasses pressing an automatic pencil at him?

He got on the bus with these unrealistic fantasies and went to… another desolate place not far from the southern suburbs.

The address given by the mysterious woman on the phone was a place Hao Ren had heard of but never been to. It was very remote, had left the city's radiation range, and could be considered a small village outside the city. There was no direct bus from the city to reach it. Even in the already remote southern suburbs, there was only one dilapidated bus that ran every hour.

This magical place was called Wangba Tuozi (Turtle Mound).

Obviously, this was also a magical name. The author hoped that it would not be和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐和谐
