Chapter 1 Side Story - Gun's Great Adventure (Re-release, should be able to comment now)
Pressing the channel-surfing button on the remote, staring at the flashing images on the screen, the cat-eared girl yawned lengthily after a few minutes of boredom.
So boring. Even channel-surfing has become boring.
Gun lowered her head and licked her tail, tossing the remote aside casually, and started jumping around the living room, rummaging through things.
The house was quiet everywhere. Only the sound of splashing water occasionally came from the next room. Almost everyone, including Da Da Mao (Big Cat), had gone on a long trip again, and this time, only a cat and a fish were left to watch the house.
"So bo-ring..." After jumping around for another round, Gun returned to the sofa, trying to curl up into a small ball, wagging her tail now and then. "Da Da Mao went out again, Da Da Mao never takes me to play..."
The little mermaid in the next room was still splashing around vigorously. She really couldn't understand how that little fish could have such vigorous energy, and how she could be so happy just playing with water. Thinking of this, Gun couldn't help but feel a little envious of Dou Dou (Bean), and also slightly missed her old days.
Although her memories from when she was very young were a bit vague, Gun still remembered that when she was just a cat, she wouldn't always feel bored like she did now.
Back then, it seemed like there were always many fun things waiting for her. Although her brain couldn't think about many things, she could easily get a lot of happiness from those limited things—a ball of yarn could be played with happily all day, she could scratch Da Da Mao's door and then be chased around by him, she could pat the little leather ball that Da Da Mao bought for her, and she wouldn't get bored even after patting it all afternoon. But why couldn't she do that now?
Gun lowered her head and looked at her hands. Human hands were very complex and could do many, many things. Human brains were also very complex and could think about many, many things. But maybe it was because there were too many things to do and think about that she felt bored.
Gun jumped off the sofa, ran to her toy box, and rummaged through it until she found the little leather ball that she used to love to play with. She patted it twice.
Then she let out a dejected "Meow."
Or... change the way I play?
Gun looked carefully at her hands, and after thinking for a while, she decided to use her creativity.
Human hands could grab things and throw them out.
She picked up the leather ball, squeezed it, and then aimed at the wall not far away and threw it hard.
With a bang, a dark mark was left on the wall, and the leather ball bounced back.
This is much more fun!
Gun felt like she had discovered a new continent. She picked up the ball and happily ran around the living room, throwing it at every place that interested her.
On the roof, on the walls, on the kitchen door, the leather ball left marks of varying depths everywhere, and then bounced around the living room.
Until, with a bang, a small leather ball was embedded in the middle of the TV screen on the TV cabinet.
The picture on the screen shook violently a few times, and then turned black with a wisp of smoke. The TV itself swayed back and forth, and finally fell from the TV cabinet.
Gun stared blankly at the TV, then suddenly jumped up: "Meow!!!"
What to do? Will Da Da Mao eat me?
No, no, I heard kittens are very expensive, how could he be willing to...
But I was picked up! Not expensive at all!
Gun's ears and tail stood straight up, and the fluff on them slowly bristled. At the same time, she also heard the sound of splashing water in the next room stop at some point.
The little mermaid in the room seemed to have heard the commotion here as well.
Gun felt her brain suddenly working well, and she instantly thought of countless possible consequences and solutions. Looking at the situation, it wouldn't work to stick the TV screen back together with saliva—she didn't have that much saliva, and the little mermaid would soon discover the truth in the living room. So the current situation is...
In that instant, Gun suddenly remembered her long-ago unfulfilled plan.
She rushed to the stairs, using both hands and feet, ran to the second floor, found the treasure she had hidden in the storage room: a small package, and then rushed back to the living room in a hurry. While running, she stuffed her tail into her clothes, and finally rushed to the front door.
At the moment of rushing out of the house, she suddenly remembered something, then ran to the hat rack and found a big hat, carefully putting it on her head to cover her ears.
After doing all this, the cat girl rushed out of the house and fled.
I'm coming! Outside world! The first step for the Meow star people to conquer the earth starts here!
Half an hour later, Gun stopped at a street corner, opened her small package, and stared blankly at the things inside.
Oops... There's a big loophole in the original plan.
Too many toys were put in the bag, and no food.
Why didn't I put food in it back then?
Ah, I remember now. The original plan was that I could catch mice myself after going out, so I didn't need to bring food...
But I don't want to eat mice now.
Gun touched her belly. She wasn't hungry yet, but she should be in a few hours.
She definitely couldn't go home. That fish must have already discovered that she broke the TV at home, and Dou Dou was going to watch cartoons in the afternoon. Without a TV to watch, that fish would be very scary.
If I go back, I'll definitely be beaten by the fish.
In Gun's limited brain, she selectively forgot the fact that every room in the house had a TV.
I have to get some food.
Gun searched all over her body and finally found a few crumpled bills in a pocket.
She vaguely remembered that this was the pocket money Da Da Mao had given her after she was finally allowed to go out alone.
But because buying things was too troublesome, and it was better to save time and climb a few more trees, she had hardly spent any of it and had saved it all.
Gun looked at the bills in her hand and fell into thought.
Then she tried to recall the process of buying things that Da Da Mao had taught her, and clutched her saved pocket money as she walked towards the nearest store.
"Boss! I want dried fish! Biscuits! Dried tofu!" Gun leaned on the counter, staring straight at the shop owner. "Where are they?"
The shop owner was looking down and calculating the accounts, and pointed to the direction of the shelves: "The snacks are on the second shelf in the back, get them yourself."
Gun oh-ed and was about to walk away when the boss suddenly looked up.
"Hey? Aren't you the little girl who's staying at Hao Ren's house?"
Hearing Da Da Mao's name, Gun jumped up in fright, almost thinking that the person in front of her had seen through her plan and was going to catch her and send her back to be beaten, but she heard the shop owner continue: "I haven't seen Hao Ren for quite a few days. Is he on a business trip again?"
"Da... Big brother went on a business trip." Gun almost bit her tongue, but at least she remembered the things she had learned countless times before.
"Oh, when he comes back, tell him that the cat food he ordered from me last time has arrived."
Gun was just trying to get away quickly to get something from the shelves when she heard this and stopped.
Her eyes lit up, and she plopped onto the counter: "Cat food! Boss! Give me cat food!"
The shop owner was startled by the cat girl and leaned back: "Oh, oh... that's right, you can buy it too. How much do you want?"
Gun slapped all the change in her hand on the counter: "How much can I buy?"
A few minutes later, Gun left the store contentedly, carrying two large bags.
She definitely couldn't have lifted such big bags before, but after becoming a human, not only did she grow taller, but she also became very strong. She hardly felt anything carrying these things. It seemed pretty good to be a human.
Now that she has food, what's the next step to conquer the world?
Gun strolled down the street, thinking about her plan to conquer the world.
Then go gather a group of little brothers.
There seem to be many stray cats nearby...
If I use a bag of cat food to buy them off, it should be easy to handle, right?
After I have little brothers, then what?
It's difficult to rule the world with just cats. Gun, who has now gained high intelligence, understands this very well.
You still have to use the power of humans, because it's very convenient for humans to do many things.
Then let the little brothers find humans to act cute and make humans become tools to rule the world!
Next, use humans to establish a puppet regime... Let's start with managing this street first.
Gun walked and planned, and the beautiful future of successfully ruling the world and establishing a Meow star empire appeared in her mind.
In that case, I'll hand over the Meow Star Empire to Da Da Mao to manage. That way...
Da Da Mao shouldn't pursue the matter of me breaking the TV, right?
The sun was gradually setting in the west, and a cat girl with lofty ambitions and two big bags of cat food was walking on the streets of the southern suburbs with great ambition.
Go find a place where stray cats gather.
Go distribute cat food.
Go assign tasks.
Although those stray cats, who seemed very stupid, didn't seem to understand what she meant, they did look very happy when they were eating.
Squatting next to a trash can in the corner of the street, Gun handed out the cat food in her hand, watching the little calico cat in front of her carefully lick the crumbs clean.
In a trance, she seemed to see herself back then, except that she was standing in the little calico cat's position, and the one holding a handful of cat food... was Da Da Mao.
Is this how humans feel when they feed cats?
It doesn't seem like anything... Why did Da Da Mao feed me back then?
Did he have a lot of food? Or was he actually trying to conquer the world back then?
Many messy thoughts ran through Gun's head, but she didn't know when the little calico cat in front of her had run away.
I haven't had time to assign tasks yet.
She clapped her hands, stood up a little dejectedly, then licked a little bit of residue on her hand, and grabbed some more cat food from the bag she was carrying, throwing it into her mouth as she walked aimlessly.
It was already dark. At this time of day... Da Da Mao should be calling me for dinner.
Winter was over, but the early spring nights were still cold.
Streetlights were lit up one by one, and the ground lights under the landscape trees on both sides of the road were also lit up. Although it was a dilapidated area, it was still an urban area at least. Some things were planned and constructed near the city boundary back then. These ground lights and a nearby shopping mall were all the products of the ambitious past.
A gust of cold wind blew, and Gun shivered subconsciously, then thought a little slowly—she no longer had warm, long fur on her body.
I should have worn more clothes when I went out.
I bought very expensive high-end cat food with all my pocket money, and it seems like I don't have any money to buy clothes.
Gun looked at the street that was lighting up, scratched her chin, and recalled why she ran away from home in the first place.
It seemed like I was just throwing a leather ball, it wasn't a big deal, why did I run away?
Gun Meow shrank her neck in the increasingly cold night wind. She saw the ground lights nearby, and some distant memories and experiences emerged. She slowly walked over and squatted on one of the ground lights.
In the past, when it was very cold in winter, ground lights were a good place to keep warm.
The small ground light was just right for a stray cat to squat on. The heat from the light wasn't very strong, but it was enough to help the cat resist the cold wind.
Some very light rustling sounds came from nearby, and several stray cats crawled out of the bushes, walking towards the nearby ground lights with light steps.
They looked at the human squatting next to them in surprise, seemingly not understanding why humans were squatting on it too.
Gun looked down at her feet a little dejectedly.
It's not warm at all.
Is it because I'm wearing shoes? Or is it because I'm too tall?
Anyway, the memories and experiences from when I was a child didn't come in handy, it's not warm at all.
A dirty stray cat walked over a little warily. The aura emanating from Gun's body prevented the stray cats from running away in fear like they would when encountering strange humans, but her human appearance still made the stray cat very afraid.
"Is this your place?"
Gun looked down at the stray cat and asked curiously.
The stray cat flicked its tail, meowing once as an answer.
Gun thought for a while, then suddenly smiled. She stood up and walked aside: "Then you squat here~~"
"Meow?"
"I have a place to keep warm," Gun said, holding a large bag of cat food, in a very happy mood. "I'm going home!"
Leaving the bewildered stray cat behind, she walked lightly in the direction of home.
Although I don't remember why I ran away from home, I'm so cute, how could Da Da Mao be willing to hit me—the cat girl thought happily.
