Chapter 132 Legend

Chapter 1 Becky's Attack

This was the first time Hao Ren had seen Becky in action, or rather, the first time he had seen this world’s manifestation of human power.

The flames and wind pressure enveloping the sword might be magical effects, and the sword storm that Becky unleashed while spinning was obviously beyond the limits of the human body as Hao Ren understood it. This was probably the "battle technique" of the Dream Plane. He stared wide-eyed, marveling to himself. Although the three superhumans around him also had incredible superpowers, the weakest of them was a husky spirit, while Becky was "human." Hao Ren was increasingly interested in the setting of this Dream Plane world.

Becky's attack was a thunderous and unexpected display of strength. If the pack of black wolves that was trying to escape had been in normal condition, they might have been able to dodge, but ambushed as they were, they were inevitably slaughtered by the deadly sword storm. The whirlwind that Becky created raged for more than thirty seconds before subsiding, leaving behind a spiral pit with a radius of more than ten meters and a large area of dismembered black wolf corpses. Hao Ren and the Wolf King hurried over to check the situation, only to find Becky at the bottom of the pit, vomiting violently, bringing up everything she had eaten the night before.

Hao Ren: "...Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, normal after-effects," Becky said, trying to hold it in. She looked up and waved at Hao Ren, "I just need to throw up after spinning, and I'll be fine. I can only use this move once each time. Wait a moment, I need to vomit some more, ugh—"

"Is this your companion?" the Wolf King asked with a wary expression. "A magic swordsman... a very powerful group among humans. I usually avoid them."

"Uh, temporary companion," Hao Ren said awkwardly, wondering if Becky was powerful or not. She spun for thirty seconds and then completely collapsed, even the three-minute superman could beat her up six times—but when she started spinning, she was truly indestructible, like a human meat grinder. Hao Ren wanted to try opening his shield to see how powerful this girl-type electric fan was, but he decided against it.

Becky vomited for two minutes before finally recovering. She wiped her mouth and jumped out of the pit in a few steps, as energetic as if nothing had happened. She looked at the wary Wolf King beside Hao Ren in surprise: "Didn't you say you were a magician from the Horner Empire? And that you were suddenly thrown here due to a teleportation accident? How do you even know these heterogenous wolf packs?"

"Are they famous?" Hao Ren asked casually.

"Quite famous," Becky shrugged. "There are some very intelligent wolves on this prairie that can speak human language. They are said to be the descendants of experimental creatures left behind by the ancient magical civilization before the Great Disaster. Travelers on the prairie occasionally encounter them, and they sometimes communicate with humans, so they are quite a well-known group. But I've only ever seen lone wolves before. I didn't expect you to know a whole pack!"

The Wolf King felt very uncomfortable with someone discussing its pack so recklessly. It bared its teeth and growled threateningly: "Don't talk to me in that tone of voice, human. I am not one of those lower creatures that can't understand human language!"

Hao Ren quickly squeezed between Becky and the Wolf King to prevent a conflict (the Wolf King would definitely lose to Becky). He explained how he had met the Wolf King: "Actually, I arrived on the prairie a few days ago and met the wolf pack then. I've been trying to teleport back these past few days, but I've failed every time—what you saw just now was me falling from the sky."

The Wolf King opened its mouth, wanting to say that you weren't wearing these clothes when you appeared a few days ago, but seeing that Hao Ren seemed to have other secrets, it didn't say anything. Becky looked at Hao Ren suspiciously, but waved her hand dismissively: "Say whatever you want, it has nothing to do with me. I don't care if the sky falls. You two continue catching up, I'm going to collect the spoils of war."

As Becky spoke, she picked up her sword and began collecting bone plates from the black wolves lying dead on the prairie, which could be used as medicinal ingredients. The Wolf King tugged at Hao Ren's trousers and said in a low voice, "Is she very dangerous?"

"Don't worry, she won't attack you," Hao Ren said with a smile. "She was going to go on a rampage just now, but I stopped her..." As he spoke, Hao Ren told the Wolf King about the situation earlier, but he was a little confused: Becky’s skill, which took thirty seconds to cast and two minutes to recover from, how could she be so confident in deciding to fight two packs of wolves at the same time?

Perhaps this girl had other special skills.

"Can I ask you something?" Hao Ren asked, seeing that Becky would be busy for a while. He remembered that he still had the mission of "exploring the truth of the Dream Plane." Since he had come here and didn't know when he would suddenly return, he decided to take this opportunity to ask the Wolf King about some of the terms he had just heard. "Becky just said that you wolves who can speak human language are the product of ancient magical civilization? Is that true?"

"That's what humans say," the Wolf King was straightforward and wouldn't doubt Hao Ren's words like Becky did, so it was a good object for inquiring about the situation. As expected, it didn't suspect anything and answered Hao Ren's common-sense question: "It is said that seven or eight thousand years ago—or maybe ten thousand years ago, anyway, it's your human way of counting time. I don't know how many days and nights it is in our terms. Anyway, a long time ago, there was a very powerful magic empire in this world. They could go to heaven and earth and do anything. Their cities were even built on the moon. The world was much more prosperous than it is now. I read in books that the population of every race, humans, elves, orcs, blood clans, demons, was several times or even dozens of times what it is now... Anyway, I think it's nonsense. Where would so many people live?"

Hao Ren thought that he could take a few pictures of the Spring Festival travel season next time he had the opportunity and show them to the Wolf King.

"This ancient magic civilization created you? Then how did they perish?" Hao Ren signaled the Wolf King to continue.

He often saw this kind of plot of "ancient civilization encountering disaster and being cut off, with new civilizations starting again on the ruins" in movies. Even scientists on Earth speculated that there really were super civilizations in prehistoric times, so he didn't take the ancient civilization in the Wolf King's mouth as a complete legend. And to be honest... a pack of talking wolves really didn't fit the theory of evolution.

"We have no history," the Wolf King shook its head. "We don't consider so many useless things like humans, so we don't know where we came from. However, many human scholars firmly believe that ancient civilizations had the ability to create new races, and some even say that werewolves are a combination of humans and wolves—later, that scholar was almost beaten to death by the werewolves. As for how the ancient civilization ended... I really don't know. Look, I'm just a wolf who learned to read and write from a strange old man for a few years. It's not easy for me to read a book. You have so many questions, why don't you ask that sword person... uh, that female person?"

The Wolf King looked at Hao Ren very sincerely, its huge face full of the expression "I'm just a little animal, don't expect so much from my knowledge, okay?" Hao Ren quickly couldn't bear the gaze and gave in, and at the same time as he stood up, Becky's voice came from behind: "The ancient magic empire? It is said that they violated the wrath of heaven by studying artificial life, and the goddess destroyed the world with one blow."

"Are you done packing?" Hao Ren turned his head and saw that Becky was carrying a bulging bag. The lumps on the outside of the bag should all be bone fragments collected from the corpses of wild wolves.

"I made a lot of money easily, today is really my lucky day," Becky said happily, shaking the big bag in her hand. "These wolves usually come and go like the wind. Don't look at my skills, but if there is no chance for an ambush, it is really not easy to get these. By the way, are you interested in the ancient magic empire? But you are a magician yourself, why do you still ask these basic questions?"

"Legends are different in different places. I am interested in different versions of legends." Hao Ren finally came up with a less absurd reason before Becky became more suspicious of him.

"Ha, what is there to study? You people are really idle," Becky said with a pouting mouth. "Anyway, I heard my grandfather say that the ancient magic empire violated the realm of God by studying artificial life. Those magic emperors and elven queens created some perfect life together, and gave themselves many divine titles, such as the God of Arcana, the God of Life, and the God of Creation. As a result, they played too much and angered the true God. The goddess threw her wine glass at the world in anger, and the divine wine in the glass turned into a scarlet sea of fire, burning in all countries for three days and three nights, destroying 80% of life. That's how the ancient magic civilization ended. My grandfather said that the Beinz Blood Lake in the west and the red spots on the big moon during the full moon are the marks left by the goddess after throwing down the wine glass."

Hao Ren listened in surprise to this magical, absurd, but interesting myth, and Becky sighed at the end: "The goddess really has a lot of capacity..."
