Chapter 115 Visitor

Chapter 153 An Uninvited Guest

Because their destinations differed and traveling together would be too conspicuous, the two werewolves and Hao Ren decided to part ways in the wilderness north of the suburbs. They exchanged farewells, each feeling a bit awkward.

This was the first time Vivian had said goodbye to werewolves in such a friendly manner – and here we're talking about normal werewolves, not a dimwit like Lily. As for the latter's goofy appearance, Vivian had stopped treating her as a normal werewolf the very next day.

Lily, on the other hand, was interacting with her own kind for the first time in her life. She was filled with curiosity and found everything the two Eben werewolves did extremely interesting. Despite having been "kidnapped" earlier, she didn't mind it at all.

The two Eben werewolves were still a bit disoriented. For the first time, they realized that there were so many things in this world they didn't understand. The strange people around Hao Ren had opened their eyes, giving them enough to ponder for the next two months.

As for the strange blue creature that had appeared earlier, the two werewolves wisely didn't ask about it. They probably figured that if they asked too many questions, they wouldn't be able to leave so easily. Just Izhaks alone could pin them to the ground. If Vivian or Hao Ren wanted to silence them, the werewolves figured the best they could hope for was a three-hundred-word will… and even that might not get passed on.

"We'll return directly to Europe. If the family elders wish to meet the Countess, we'll send someone ahead to give notice. You are, after all, an elder and deserve respect," Kasa Eben said to Vivian with a slight nod, offering the most courteous farewell a werewolf could give to a vampire. "Considering the world isn't very peaceful these days, it'll probably be a while. We won't be disturbing you anytime soon."

"The less disturbance, the better," Vivian said unceremoniously, waving her hand. "You two should leave quickly, lest you be targeted by demon hunters again. Speaking of which, is that outfit going to work? You shouldn't be able to use your dark mist power yet, so you'll have to walk back to the city."

Eion Eben tugged at the tattered rags he was wearing, which looked like performance art: "You've already helped us remove the bloodstains. The rest is easy. Kasa and I will take another route back to the city. We'll disguise ourselves as beggars or artists before entering the city."

Hao Ren reminded them with a forced smile: "You'd better tell people you're artists traveling the world. Otherwise, you'll get into trouble. Two foreigners begging in the city center will easily make the evening news…"

"We know. We've been in China for a long time," Kasa Eben chuckled. "You'd better be careful too. An unusual gathering of demon hunters is never a good thing. They might just be passing through, but a large group of demon hunters disappearing in this city should quickly attract more of their kind. Keep a low profile these days. Farewell for now, we'll meet again if fate allows…"

Hao Ren slapped Kasa on the arm. "Go on, you foreign werewolf, stop showing off your Chinese!"

After the two werewolves, supporting each other, gradually disappeared into the distance, Vivian sighed. "They were quite unlucky this time, getting beaten up twice for a husky, and they didn't even get to take the husky with them. And those outfits looked expensive too. Tsk, enough for half a year's worth of my meals. What a waste."

So, she was actually feeling sorry for the clothes!

Lily jumped up and down in protest. "What's wrong with huskies! What's wrong with huskies! Huskies were wolves eight hundred years ago!"

This lively werewolf girl (or dog girl?) slightly eased the annoyance in Hao Ren's heart. He smiled, patted Lily's head, and praised her casually. "Thanks to your water vapor trick this time, even though your idea was a bit weird… the technique worked quite well."

The werewolf girl's face lit up with joy, instantly forgetting the insult to her canine dignity. Then the group of four, along with a chattering data terminal, embarked on their journey home. As for the traces left behind from the fight in the warehouse, they had to thank "Big Blue," the arcane servant sent by Raven 12345. This time, Hao Ren didn't have to worry about cleaning up the scene. According to Izhaks, the warehouse had been turned into ruins by a lightning storm, obliterating all traces of supernatural power. Even the most cutting-edge experts would only be able to determine it as a rare case of fire caused by lightning. Wouldn't it be great if Raven 12345 could be so helpful every time?

The group had arrived using space teleportation and flight, but they didn't have the energy to do that on the way back. They took a city bus that rattled along for two whole hours before Hao Ren and the others finally returned to their little nest in the southern suburbs. By then, it was already dusk, and the city lights were coming on.

Back in the house, the lights were turned on, and "Roll," who had been entertaining himself at home for half the day, immediately ran out to greet them. Hao Ren picked up the little black cat and felt a rumbling in his stomach. "I don't think I ate lunch!"

"I didn't either," Vivian said, glancing at Lily unhappily. "All because of this idiot, we forgot to eat. She, on the other hand, was supposedly kidnapped, but she managed to mooch six bowls of rice! She's really good at this."

Lily chuckled dryly and patted her stomach. "But I'm still hungry… I want spareribs."

"I'll heat up the food on the table," Vivian sighed. "Landlord, lend me a hand."

The table was still set with the lunch they had left behind. Hao Ren was confident that his cat hadn't stolen any food. "Roll" was a rather amazing cat. Although he came from a stray clan, was used to stealing food from the kitchen, always jumped onto his owner's bed in the middle of the night for warmth, and liked to scratch furniture without ever catching mice, there was one thing that Hao Ren was very satisfied with: he wouldn't jump onto the table and mess up his owner's food. This stemmed from a lesson two years ago. At that time, "Roll" had just arrived at Hao Ren's house and was still an untamed (though still pretty untamed) bastard cat. When he saw Hao Ren eating, he would jump onto the table and try to snatch food from the bowl…

That time, Hao Ren was drinking spicy soup, and it was super hot.

After returning from the vet, "Roll" developed a psychological shadow regarding the dining table. His dining range was now permanently below the table legs.

"This time, I've seen real demon hunters," Hao Ren said with a sigh as he helped Vivian in the kitchen. "They're really troublesome guys… Do you think more demon hunters will come looking for trouble in the future?"

Hao Ren recalled the two werewolves' warning before they left, and he also knew that the disappearance of seven or eight demon hunters in the area would definitely attract the attention of other demon hunters. Although Hao Ren wasn't afraid of trouble, the thought of a group of psychopaths pouring into the city made him feel very annoyed.

"Let them come. They won't stay long anyway," Vivian said, seemingly unconcerned. "They'll search here for a few days at most, and if they don't find any clues, they'll retreat. Under normal circumstances, 'different kinds' don't stay in one place after a conflict with demon hunters. They definitely wouldn't expect us to be living here."

Hao Ren nodded, suddenly recalling the arcane servant who had come to the rescue today. A wry smile appeared on his face. "Speaking of which, that Raven 12345 can be reliable sometimes. I thought she was completely hands-off. Turns out she knows when we're in trouble."

The arcane servant Raven 12345 had sent today had been a great help, at least taking care of the most troublesome tasks of cleaning up and disposing of the scene. He just didn't know what would happen to those demon hunters she had taken away. What did Raven 12345 want with demon hunters? The thought of that goddess's neurotic personality made Hao Ren suddenly feel sympathy for the demon hunters. They were probably better off being killed on the spot.

Just as Hao Ren was wondering what that crazy woman was thinking, a doorbell rang from the living room.

Vivian and Hao Ren exchanged glances and quickly ran to the living room. They saw that Lily was also standing up, looking nervously toward the door. The fight with the demon hunters had made everyone a bit jumpy, and the sudden doorbell at this hour felt like a death knell, making everyone tense.

Izhaks was the least nervous of them all. He was sitting on the sofa, eating melon seeds and watching TV. He looked up at Hao Ren. "Landlord, there's someone outside. Should we open the door?"

"Everyone, stay calm. I'll go take a look first," Hao Ren thought. If it was really a demon hunter, they wouldn't be ringing the doorbell so obediently. He waved his hand, telling Lily to sit down and Vivian to go back to the kitchen. After confirming that his shields were full, he took a deep breath and went to the door. "Coming, coming, stop ringing."

The door opened to reveal an unfamiliar girl standing outside.
