Chapter 39 Raven 12345's "Work"
Thanks to that five-figure white-haired witch, the ample funds she provided allowed Hao Ren to enjoy the life of a wealthy man in a foreign country—of course, he couldn't compare to a real nouveau riche, but at least for Hao Ren, booking a suite with two bedrooms, a living room, and a bathroom in a hotel of this level was already within the realm of the wealthy. After stumbling through the check-in procedures, the three of them were led by a hotel attendant to the room booked two days prior. By the time they entered, Lily was completely devoid of humanity from sleepiness—she entered on all fours.
Hao Ren could only explain to the stunned hotel attendant beside him, "Sleepwalking, sleepwalking..."
The hotel attendant's expression was strange. He probably hadn't seen anyone sleepwalking to this extent in his life, but his good professional demeanor made him wisely refrain from asking too much. He simply gave a slightly odd but still relatively standard Mandarin explanation about the suite's facilities and hotel services, then took his leave.
"The hotel's advertising is right, look at how well they speak Chinese—much better than your English," Hao Ren said, dragging Lily towards the small living room, while also turning to tease Vivian. "Check if the door is closed, and then use your superhuman senses to make sure there are no cameras or anything in this room. I don't want to alarm any scientists who shouldn't be."
Vivian pouted, checked the door, and then muttered something while seemingly writing some characters in the air on the door. Only then did she turn around. "Okay, I'll know immediately if anyone approaches."
Hao Ren nodded and tossed Lily, who had already fallen asleep, onto the living room sofa. Only then did he have time to survey the surroundings: to be fair, this was the most luxurious hotel room he had ever stayed in. The living room was carpeted with thick, light-yellow carpet, and the warm-toned lighting on the walls gave one a sense of security and warmth at first glance. On one side of the living room was an LCD TV and a mini-bar, while the other side had sofas, coffee tables, and tables and chairs for entertaining guests. At the north and south ends of the living room were bedrooms, each with its own bathroom: this last point was essential, because Hao Ren knew very well that he couldn't share a room with the two girls, but he was even more afraid of letting these two superwomen, who were prone to messing things up, out of his sight, so he could only book this suite with two bedrooms, one for himself and one for the two superwomen.
Actually, there was also a hidden danger in this arrangement, namely whether Lily and Vivian would fight if they stayed together, but when booking the hotel, he couldn't find a suitable alternative, so he had to make do. Anyway, before setting off, the two superwomen had solemnly promised that they would get along harmoniously during the trip. Of course, the credibility of that statement was questionable.
Hao Ren looked around the suite, which he considered quite luxurious, with the satisfaction of a country bumpkin (although in the eyes of the truly wealthy, this was probably just barely above poverty level). At this moment, Lily suddenly opened her eyes. The werewolf girl did a carp jump and sat up, stretching vigorously and shouting, "Landlord, are we here yet?"
Hao Ren looked strangely at the energetic Lily. The bright morning light outside the French windows shone diagonally on the latter's face: it was now 6:30 a.m. local time, and Lily's biological clock had just ended her fixed midday nap time. The amazing werewolf girl woke up with perfect timing.
"I have a feeling this mission is going to be a disaster," Hao Ren sighed, took out his data terminal from his pocket, successfully activated it, and found the mission details that Raven 12345 had given him. "We leave the day after tomorrow, and the destination is almost a whole day's journey from London, and that's if we take the highway. So tomorrow's main task is to figure out the route and find out exactly where this place called 'Yorkford' is. Raven 12345 said something about testing the new recruits... is this how you test them? At least give us a more accurate map!"
"Yorkford... I can't even find it on the map," Lily was fully awake now. She leaned over and looked curiously at the image projected by the data terminal. "Hey, Landlord, we haven't had lunch yet, have we?"
Hao Ren looked at the sky outside. "It should be breakfast... around breakfast time. We'll go down to eat later. Also, don't call me Landlord when we're out, just call me by my name, or it sounds weird."
"Okay, Landlord, got it, Landlord."
Hao Ren: "..."
Vivian first enthusiastically circled around the various rooms of the suite, even visiting the bathroom specifically for a tour. Only then did she return leisurely, looking even more like a country bumpkin than Hao Ren. She glanced at the holographic image floating in front of Hao Ren and reminded him, "Didn't you say you were going to report the situation to that Raven? See if you can get more details out of her."
"Oh right, I almost forgot about that," Hao Ren slapped his forehead and then, following his memory, pinched a rib of the data terminal and searched hard in his mind for Raven 12345's communication channel. "Hopefully she's at work today. That guy isn't reliable very often."
This time, Raven 12345 finally didn't continue to frustrate Hao Ren: the holographic projection above the data terminal flickered a few times, and the beautiful woman with the beautiful silver hair appeared in front of Hao Ren. "What's up?"
"I'm already in England," Hao Ren's expression was a bit strange because he found that the background behind Raven 12345 was clearly a piece of space. "Where are you?"
"England? What are you doing there... oh right, I remember, I asked you to pick someone up. How's it going?"
"Not good," Hao Ren couldn't bother to investigate why there was a huge flash that looked like an explosion behind Raven 12345. "Vivian messed up, Lily was sleeping like a dead dog a few minutes ago, the 'Yorkford' you told me about isn't even an address that exists on the map of England, and... none of the three of us speak English. You said this is a secret mission, so we can't just find a local to translate, can we? What if they discover abnormal creatures?"
"Don't speak English? Is that all?" Raven 12345's mouth didn't move when she spoke, but her voice came from the picture, obviously she was using another method to talk to Hao Ren while in space. At this time, another bright flash appeared in the background of the holographic image, and Raven 12346 turned her head and threw a dazzling blue-white ball of light over, then turned back. "I told you to study your data terminal properly, why don't you listen—enter the application list and find the translation program."
Hao Ren watched Raven 12345 throwing spherical lightning bolts in space, and he was increasingly curious about what she was doing, but he still answered his own question. "I looked for the translation program, and it's either xx Star Language or xx Universal Dictionary. I guess I'd be rich even if I went on a tour to another world, but there's nothing I can use on Earth..."
Raven 12345 was stunned for a moment, and slapped her head. "Hey, I installed the wrong one for you... it's not like you don't know I'm not very good with these tech-oriented things. Wait, I'll have someone who knows what they're doing send you a normal translation program over, I'll clean up this grandson here first, it'll be quick."
As Raven 12345 spoke, she turned her head and threw another bright blue "arc" out. Hao Ren couldn't see how big the arc was on the holographic projection, he only saw that it almost occupied the entire picture in an instant. He was extremely surprised. "What are you doing? Why does it look so lively?"
"Oh, cleaning the room," Raven said casually. "A bunch of crazy guys felt like their fate was rough and they were preparing to destroy the world. They even built mathematical rate weapons. I have to clean them up before they hurt anyone else..."
As Raven 13245 spoke, Hao Ren saw a huge, mountain-like, peculiar wreck entangled in blue flames slowly passing through space, disintegrating as it flew. A large number of small spaceship-like things separated from the wreck, but without exception, they were smashed into pieces by blue beams of light that came from nowhere.
Immediately, Hao Ren knew that this question could not be pursued any further—what Raven 12345 was doing was obviously not very harmonious...
"Okay, where were we?" Raven 12345's voice woke Hao Ren from his daze. "Oh right, I'll upload a new translation program for you. Sigh, you guys who haven't been officially hired yet are just troublesome. It'll be better after you're officially hired. Things like translation systems can be directly placed into your mental world, and you'll have built-in localization wherever you go."
