Chapter 1039 Mimir's Ship
After the Landcrawler departed from the Korpus space, it returned to Kuiper Station. During this brief stopover, besides conducting routine inspections and maintenance on the ship, Hao Ren also provided Mimir with an eye-opening experience.
The old giant showed immense interest in the spacecraft and the space landscape.
"I have lived for ten thousand years... at least ten thousand years," Mimir said from his private quarters in the Landcrawler's hangar, watching the view outside the ship through a series of holographic projections. The grandeur of Kuiper Station thrilled him. "I have never seen such a sight! Although I knew the world above the sky was vast, experiencing it firsthand is truly... amazing."
"How do you feel about the universe?" Hao Ren asked, accompanying Mimir. He was trying to build a closer relationship with the old giant as quickly as possible because he wanted to inform the guardian about the Dream Plane and the Creation Goddess.
Mimir thought for a moment, his tone slightly puzzled. "Magnificent, astonishing, but I don't know why... I feel a sense of familiarity, as if I once roamed among the stars. Fragments of space travel... occasionally flash through my mind."
Hao Ren was startled by Mimir's words. As expected, a demigod was different from ordinary species. All the alien races on Earth, regardless of their original technological level, had completely lost their past memories after being affected by the Original Sin of Divine Blood. Yet, Mimir still retained faint impressions from his time as a guardian!
"You once traveled in space," Hao Ren said bluntly. "You come from a great race, a glorious guardian, fighting for the balance of life in the universe. Those images you recall are what you truly experienced, but it all happened in another world."
"Another world..." Mimir had heard this phrase from Hao Ren before, but each time, he had a different understanding. At Korpus, he thought Hao Ren's "another world" was merely a distant alien planet or a parallel dimension similar to Earth. But now, seeing the advanced and powerful Landcrawler, the giant space station outside, and the countless staff inside the station who were clearly serving Hao Ren, he immediately considered more possibilities. "You have a ship, and you hold a high position in this... haven, so you must have great power. Therefore, the other world you speak of must be more than just an alien planet."
"There's a term... it would be difficult to explain, but we have plenty of time today. Before we head to Athens, I can give you a crash course," Hao Ren said, sitting cross-legged in front of Mimir. "Do you know about the Dream Plane? A universe that coexists with the real world, like a phantom but also real..."
Hao Ren narrated quietly, and Mimir listened intently.
Hao Ren began with the Creation Goddess's experiment with the first seeds of life in the Original Blood, then moved on to the origin and sowing of the Dream Plane, the birth of the guardian race, the prosperity of the Dream Plane's life system, and the shadows and undercurrents beneath this prosperity. He had originally thought that telling Mimir these things would be psychologically stressful, but once he began, he found himself calmer than he expected.
Perhaps it was the result of two years as an inspector, or perhaps it was the help of Raven 12345's unreliable goddess blessing, but Hao Ren felt a strange psychological state as he told these stories. He did not interject his personal feelings, nor did he offer unnecessary comments. He simply stated the facts as he knew them, categorizing them based on their veracity, allowing Mimir to decide for himself. In this process, he became a true observer and witness, as the inspector's handbook stated:
You are the beacon of the Empire, the sentinel in the void. Observation and feedback are your mission.
Hao Ren, from a purely third-party perspective, revealed this history of divine creation, rebellion, the extinction of living beings, and dark conspiracies.
Mimir listened quietly, only occasionally asking small questions when he didn't understand something.
The whole process was smoother than expected, but the atmosphere was stranger than expected. After it was all over, Hao Ren looked at the giant's head with some apprehension. "I've finished—what do you think?"
Mimir pondered for a moment, his answer only five words: "It could be worse."
"It could be worse?" Hao Ren didn't understand.
"It couldn't be worse than what I had imagined," Mimir said, lowering his eyes. "I had long suspected that the alien life on Earth came from another world, but I couldn't determine if it was another planet or another universe. But no matter where they came from, such a large-scale exodus could only mean one thing: a great cataclysm had occurred in our homeland. So, from the beginning, I had prepared for the worst: the complete annihilation of our home world, the total extinction of all my people. No matter how it happened, it was an ultimate disaster. So, I think, it couldn't be worse than that."
"It's a good thing you lost your memory," Hao Ren suddenly sighed.
"Indeed," Mimir replied. "Hearing that my people had become brain monsters and planet-eaters, I was shocked by their transformation, but I could also imagine the great pain they had endured. If I had witnessed that scene, if my memory were intact... my fate might not be better than theirs."
"But there are also guardians who remained normal," Hao Ren reminded him. "Although few, they do exist. I have already begun gathering these people."
"Since you have told me all this..." Mimir raised his eyes and looked at Hao Ren. "It seems you already have a plan."
"Currently, I don't know how to arrange for you to meet your people," Hao Ren said, spreading his hands. "It's easy enough to bring three or five mortals across the Wall of Reality; small-scale data conflicts won't cause large-scale disturbances. But you are a demigod, and you are all entangled with the karma left over from the Godslaying War—that is, information entanglement. These things are like corrosive poison to the Wall of Reality. I need to consult with my superiors before deciding how to arrange for you, but whether it works out or not, I will at least try to arrange a meeting for you, even if it's just a video call."
Mimir had just heard Hao Ren explain his background as a "civilization observer." Although information about the macro-world network was confidential, Mimir could roughly guess how much power a "civilization observer" had behind them. Therefore, he gladly accepted Hao Ren's promise and arrangement.
"In fact... I have always felt a sense of mission."
After Hao Ren finished speaking, Mimir suddenly said this.
Hao Ren's spirits lifted instantly. "A sense of mission?"
Mimir couldn't nod, so he blinked instead. "Yes. Although I can't remember what happened in my home world, I realized long ago that I was very different from the other 'alien races' on this world. There are many suspicious points: they all came to Earth as groups, but I am unique; their innate hostility towards each other is almost uncontrollable, but I can control my emotions well; most importantly, they all landed randomly around the globe with no preparation, but... I remember arriving in this world on some kind of transportation. The transportation landed smoothly on the plain. Judging from the surrounding environment, it was a safe landing."
As he spoke, Mimir looked at Hao Ren's ship. "Now that I think about it, I think that transportation was like your ship, a spaceship."
Hao Ren's expression instantly turned serious.
The key to Mimir's last sentence was only four words: safe landing!
"You came to Earth on a spaceship? You're sure it was a smooth landing?" He looked into Mimir's eyes. "Do you know what a smooth landing of a spaceship looks like?"
Mimir had completely lost his memory, like the sirens of Nasaton. In the past tens of thousands of years, he couldn't even say the name of the transportation he had traveled on. Only after seeing Hao Ren's ship did the old giant realize that it was also a spaceship. Therefore, Hao Ren doubted the accuracy of Mimir's judgment.
"I don't remember how to fly a spaceship anymore, but at least I can tell that it was facing up," Mimir blinked. "And it was sitting squarely in the center of an open area on the plain, with each support strut extended to the proper angle. There were no scattered parts, no impact craters, and no forced landing marks. Even if I didn't know it was a spaceship, I could tell that it touched the ground smoothly."
Hao Ren's brain raced:
The sirens' massive ship Nasaton had crash-landed in the deep sea, with severe damage to the ship's bottom; the Tanarians certainly hadn't managed to preserve any aircraft after arriving on Earth, otherwise they wouldn't have been fiddling with the spaceship in the Golden Manor for thousands of years without being able to launch it; Zeus and Odin, the ancient gods, were even more out of the question, they had arrived on Earth alone, and had basically been surviving in the wilderness after landing...
All the alien races had "crash-landed" on Earth.
But Mimir's ship had landed smoothly!
What did that mean? It meant that the other races had been thrown over, they were passive, only Mimir... he might have driven the ship himself and arrived smoothly! He had a clear purpose!
"Where is that ship?!" Hao Ren immediately asked.
Mimir had completely lost his memory, because he was, after all, a living being, and the Original Sin of Divine Blood had the greatest impact on living beings. But his ship might still be recording something! The Nasaton ship was a mortal creation, so the ship's log was a mess, but Mimir's ship was half a divine artifact. Divine artifacts versus divine blood, the ship's log might not have been completely deleted. Perhaps the ultimate reason why the various alien races on Earth had crossed over was on that ship!
