Chapter 1110 Valkyrie
When that disheveled, crazed female warrior charged towards them, Hao Ren was still pondering which "Holy Father" she was referring to. By the time he reacted, a series of dazzling sparks were already flashing on his rigid shield. The crazed woman wielded a magnificent, lightning-streaked single-handed sword, and with the force of wind and thunder, slammed it against the rigid shield. A terrifying impact, as if a whole train had crashed into him, transmitted from the shield, and Hao Ren was instantly sent flying backwards, crashing into the wall at the other end of the corridor with a deafening boom.
It had to be said that despite having gained strength far surpassing ordinary people through years of training, the method of forcefully breaking through moves with brute strength wasn't always effective. Faced with this female warrior's lightning strike, Hao Ren was caught completely off guard and sent flying.
"Intruders! Intruders! Intruders!"
The crazed female warrior seemed to have completely lost her reason. After sending Hao Ren flying with a single strike, she continued to shout, wielding the lightning-streaked sword in her hand into a dazzling white light before charging forward again. By this time, Lily had reacted, and the dog girl immediately brandished her two ice-fire claw blades and fearlessly met the attack, instantly engaging the enemy in a fierce battle.
Hao Ren had only just pulled himself out of the wall at this point. Covered in dust, he ran forward while yelling, "What the hell is this?!"
Weapons clashed, thunder boomed, and the powers of flame and ice, along with the dazzling lightning, swirled into a storm in the corridors of Valhalla. The piercing sounds of metal grinding and explosions were deafening. Lily was now completely entangled with the enemy, with only flashes of white and yellow figures darting through the air at incredible speed. Each pass brought a deadly shockwave that spread outwards. The intensity of the battle was astonishing. Hao Ren was certain he had never seen Lily display such fighting prowess!
"Intruders! Intruders! More intruders detected! Eliminate all enemies invading the palace!" The crazed warrior continued to shout in her struggle with Lily, her voice twisted and cracking, as if her vocal cords had been burned away by rage. "Valhalla must not fall!!"
"Awoo—" Lily's roar followed closely behind, devoid of any clear meaning, merely the unconscious howl of a beast completely enraged. The usually timid husky spirit was now completely berserk, her combat power unbelievably fierce.
Hao Ren stared dumbfounded at Lily, who was fighting the enemy to a standstill, suddenly finding it hard to believe that this was the same silly, cute husky he knew.
However, he soon realized that he had been fooled by Lily's usual behavior.
Although she was usually timid, although she was always a bit of a goofball, although she almost always messed things up, Lily was now proving with her actions the underlying combat power of a strongest demon hunter reincarnated as a centuries-old canine demon: stripping away all her personality flaws, she was never weak to begin with. Lily was the strongest melee fighter on Hao Ren's team. Without using magic or his demon form, Izhaks could never beat Lily in a fistfight. Vivian's fighting skills were even worse, and the others in the house were even less of a match; all of them combined might not be able to withstand Lily's chaotic sword strikes. The reason the husky spirit always seemed relatively weak on Hao Ren's team was actually for only two reasons: first, she only had melee combat ability, so whenever she encountered someone who could fly, use magic, shoot, or set traps, she was basically screwed; second, she was an idiot.
The second reason was key: it meant that whenever she encountered someone with a better brain than her, she would be outsmarted.
But now, Lily had rushed into battle on the spur of the moment, without time to think and choose to chicken out as usual, so she had stumbled into the fight and unleashed her true fighting power. The enemy type also happened to be one that allowed her to vent her anger: although the crazed warrior had a pair of light wings on her back, the limited space of the corridor didn't allow her to fight in flight. Aside from flight, this enemy seemed to specialize in close combat, which was exactly what Lily wanted. And finally, she seemed to be a lunatic.
In that case, it didn't matter that Lily was an idiot!
"Landlord!!" In the midst of this intense battle, Lily's shout suddenly rang out. "What the hell is going on! Why am I suddenly fighting someone like this?!"
Hao Ren thought about it for a moment and finally realized that this idiot had been instinctively fighting someone for quite some time, and had only just realized what was happening…
The others surrounded the battlefield, watching the situation nervously. However, Lily and her opponent were moving too fast, and both were using berserker-like combat styles. This battle didn't allow for outside interference, and Hao Ren and the others could only watch anxiously without being able to help. And at this time, Lily even had the energy to shout, "Landlord! This crazy woman seems a bit tricky!"
"Landlord! I think I can't beat her!"
"Landlord! She just kicked me! She actually hit me!"
"Landlord! I think I'm really going to lose!"
"Land…"
Hao Ren stared for a long time before finally finding an opening—or maybe he just couldn't stand Lily's incessant noise—he put away his two long guns, overloaded his shield in an instant, and then, holding a crackling, bright white ball in his hand, charged between Lily and the unnamed female warrior.
"Lily, get out of the way!" he roared.
The foremost melee fighter was not just for show, and Lily reacted very quickly. The moment she saw Hao Ren rush up, she cooperated by leaving an opening, then suddenly kicked the enemy in the waist, using the reaction force to jump backwards. By this time, Hao Ren had already rushed in front of the enemy. He didn't dodge or evade, but directly grabbed her around the waist. Almost at the same instant, the lightning-streaked single-handed sword struck his shield.
The rigid shield erupted in a flash of light, but Hao Ren completely ignored it. With lightning speed, he pushed the dazzling and scorching ball of electrical energy in his hand into the gaps of the enemy's armor, then retreated.
A large swarm of dark bats instantly completed the interception, wrapping Hao Ren and whisking him ten meters away from the enemy.
The entire coordination process was completed within a second.
"Squeak… Boom!!"
The unnamed female warrior was completely enveloped in a ball of electrical light, then completely swallowed by the powerful lightning storm.
"Damn… finally dealt with it," Hao Ren finally had time to catch his breath, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead and muttering. He felt a ball of fire burning in his chest, and his internal organs were still throbbing painfully from the aftershock. The rigid shield had helped him withstand all the fatal damage, but the impact had been too sudden, and he still had some internal injuries, but these injuries were healing at an astonishing rate. "Which Asa 'god' is this, so fierce."
The swarm of bats coalesced into Vivian's figure beside him. "Huff… it's a Valkyrie."
"Valkyrie?" Hao Ren was shocked. "A shieldmaiden?"
"That's right, them. Odin's armed handmaidens, death angels cultivated by the Aesir gods, messengers who collect souls on the battlefield and transform them into heroic spirits," Vivian said, catching her breath and walking towards the dissipating ball of electrical light. "But this one seems to be crazy."
"Anyone who isn't blind can see that this one is crazy," Hao Ren sighed, taking out Gungnir from his dimensional pocket. "I realize now, she seems to be attracted to this spear."
At this time, Lily trotted up from behind, her silver hair a mess like a chicken coop, a cut on her forehead (though it was almost healed). She excitedly tugged on Hao Ren's arm. "Landlord! I was super awesome just now!"
"Oh, oh, you did a good job this time," Hao Ren ruffled Lily's head haphazardly, then carefully checked her injuries. "Are you hurt? How serious?"
"I crashed my head into the wall when I dodged, it's nothing," Lily said casually, hands on her hips. "I can still fight ten more!"
"Alright, I'll let you fight when ten more pop up, anyway Valkyries are mass-produced." Vivian said casually, scaring Lily into a frenzy, then began to search the body of the Valkyrie lying on the ground, life or death unknown.
Following the sensation of blood, she pulled out a small, dark thing from the gaps in the Valkyrie's armor: a small bat clutching its head.
This was the true form of the electric light ball Hao Ren had stuffed in: actually a clone of Vivian, a special bat with a short duration. Although small, it could unleash the power of a lightning strike.
However, the power it contained could only release one such attack. After releasing it, it would lose all its power, not even having enough strength to fly back. In special circumstances, Vivian would throw this bat like a bomb, and in this case, she needed the bat to unleash even greater power.
So she had Hao Ren stuff the little guy directly into the enemy's armor, and the effect proved amazing.
