Bai Xing Lin.
The residence Lu Qing Wan had previously purchased to open a hospital was surrounded by black armored soldiers with no identifying marks.
Lu Qing Wan and Feng Xi Wu entered the special care ward she had prepared that afternoon through the back door, only to see a black armored soldier with a knife at Meng Tang’s throat. "Are you going to let us in or not?"
"No."
Meng Tang trembled with fear but spoke with determination.
"My master said this is a special care ward prepared for honored guests. If you people go in, my master's meticulously prepared ward will be ruined!"
The black armored soldier was furious, his saber already unsheathed. However, his elbow suddenly went numb, and the saber was sheathed again.
"Who?"
The black armored soldier turned in surprise. Upon seeing who it was, he quickly lowered his head, "Greetings, Your Highness the Regent!"
Feng Xi Wu asked coldly, "Tang Xiao, what is going on?"
The soldier named Tang Xiao was furious. "Yesterday evening, this subordinate received intelligence from Li Jin saying that Your Highness had prepared a special ward for Marquis Lu here.
As soon as I entered the city, I brought the person here as per Your Highness's orders.
But this old geezer adamantly refused to let us in, insisting that Marquis Lu wait in the adjacent ward for his master to arrive."
The soldier, likely enraged, glared at Meng Tang childishly after speaking.
Meng Tang's legs went weak upon seeing the Regent.
He weakly called out, "Master~"
Who was this master of his? He was too terrifying!
Then, Lu Qing Wan said to the black armored soldier named Tang Xiao, "The most foolish people in this world are those who put a knife to a doctor's throat when their patient's life is still uncertain."
Tang Xiao, as the commander of the Shen Ce Battalion, was someone even top officials in the court showed respect to. To be so openly ridiculed, he immediately bristled, "Who do you think you are, daring to lecture me?!"
Lu Qing Wan merely sneered and turned to Feng Xi Wu, "Tell them all to get out. Meng Sheng, Meng Tang, come in and help me."
Having said that, she pushed open the door and entered the special care ward.
Everyone peered curiously through the crack in the door and saw that the room was as bright as day.
In the center of the room was a bed, with immaculate white bedding that seemed too clean to touch.
Several strange racks were placed around the bed. At the head of the bed, something was covered with a white cloth.
Before they could get a clear look, Lu Qing Wan put on a strange outfit, covering her face and hair.
"Meng Tang, prepare for surgery!"
"Yes, Master!"
Meng Tang, whose legs had gone weak from Feng Xi Wu's intimidation, no longer felt afraid upon hearing he would personally participate in the surgery.
He jumped up and ran towards the adjacent ward. Feng Xi Wu raised his hand, "Li Su, Li Jin, go help them."
The two followed, and shortly after, Lu Qing Wan saw her so-called father.
Her memories of this father were scarce, but Lu Qing Wan recalled that Lu Zhen Ting was supposed to be a handsome man who was like a demon on the battlefield and an immortal in scholar's robes.
Seeing him now, she could only say that the handsomeness she remembered from Lu Zhen Ting was less than one-tenth of the person before her.
However, this was hardly the time to be starstruck.
She took out two sets of protective clothing and threw them to Meng Tang and his son. Lu Qing Wan stood at the doorway with her hands raised, "Before I come out, I wish for no disturbances outside this door that might interrupt me."
Turning around, she kicked the door shut.
The inside and outside of the ward became two different worlds.
Inside the ward, Lu Qing Wan took Lu Zhen Ting's pulse herself and said to Meng Tang, "You observe as well, and then tell me your diagnosis."
Meng Tang knew that Lu Qing Wan intended to teach him her method of healing, so he quickly got to work.
"This, Master, this honored guest's injury is to the heart, and without timely treatment, it is beyond my ability to save him."
"This is not due to your lack of skill, but rather the limitations of the conditions. It is not your fault."
Lu Qing Wan withdrew her hand and said with extreme seriousness, "Next, you will see many strange things.
But no matter what you see, do not be alarmed, and do not tell anyone else what you see. Can you do that?"
"We can."
Meng Tang and his son nodded in unison, almost swearing to the heavens.
Lu Qing Wan lifted the items on both sides of the bed, revealing a pile of things they didn't recognize.
Lu Qing Wan, looking at the antique-looking respirator, electrocardiograph, and defibrillator, as well as the IV drip bags, almost stumbled.
She had long known that the Xuan Yuan Space laboratory would transform items into forms that people of this era could more readily accept, but she never expected these large machines to also become purely Chinese in style.
The defibrillator had a gold-inlaid painted surface with patterns, the electrocardiograph was made of rosewood, and the screen was of colored glaze.
Even the respirator looked like a highly skilled carpenter's carving, albeit exceptionally exquisite.
Then, looking at the IV drip stand that resembled a flower rack, and the seemingly inexplicably expensive infusion tubing and pure glass medicine bottles, Lu Qing Wan suddenly calmed down.
"Come here, you two will need to know how to use these things in the future."
Lu Qing Wan, forcing herself to remain calm, called Meng Tang and his son over. Under their curious and eager gazes, she connected Lu Zhen Ting to the respirator and the electrocardiograph.
Then, she administered the anesthetic injection, and after the anesthesia took effect, she began to open the chest and perform an interventional cardiac surgery.
Meng Tang proved to be quite capable; seeing the contents of the chest did not make him feel nauseous enough to vomit.
Occasionally, he could even hand Lu Qing Wan instruments.
"Found it, forceps!"
Lu Qing Wan instinctively reached out, and Meng Sheng quickly handed her the forceps.
"Clink!"
With a crisp sound, the barb embedded in Lu Zhen Ting's heart fell onto the plate.
Meng Tang and his son simultaneously let out a sigh of relief, only then realizing they had been so tense they had forgotten to breathe.
Thinking it was over, Lu Qing Wan said, "Prepare for suturing."
Then, the father and son watched again as Lu Qing Wan used a strange needle and thread to suture Lu Zhen Ting's chest cavity.
With the final stitch, Lu Qing Wan sighed heavily, "Alright, if you have any questions, ask them quickly."
"Grand-Master, are these things that you wrote about in the books for me and my father?"
Meng Sheng looked at the instruments with wonder. "The respirator, defibrillator, electrocardiograph, and... and this IV drip, will we be able to use them in the future?"
"I hope so, but these things are far more complex than you can imagine. So, first, thoroughly study the textbooks. I will find time to teach you some simple surgeries. These things will be discussed later."
"Yes, Grand-Master!"
Even though Lu Qing Wan did not directly state that he would be able to use these things, Meng Sheng was still so excited he was practically jumping.
Lu Qing Wan shook her head and smiled. She glanced at the electrocardiogram and then took Lu Zhen Ting's pulse again.
Finding his condition to be good, she promptly put away all the instruments, leaving only those that could be displayed.
She said to the two, "You may open the door now."
The group outside had likely been waiting impatiently.
