Chapter 7 Space Laboratory

Lu Qingwan disdainfully tossed the brick from her hand. "Be careful not to smash your own foot again."

"M-Miss, did we... did we kill someone?"

Yue'er stood trembling, motionless. Although she lived in the Marquis's manor and often saw Madam Lan and her daughter punish servants, this was her first time personally striking someone on the head. She was utterly terrified.

Lu Qingwan, though appearing disgusted, inwardly appreciated the little maid's decisive action when it was needed. She pulled the girl to her side. "Don't be scared, they're still alive. Go take a look, do you recognize this place?"

Yue'er scanned her surroundings and shook her head blankly. "This servant was sold into servitude at the Marquis's manor from a young age and rarely went out. I truly don't recognize this place."

Lu Qingwan placed her hands on her hips and surveyed the area. She bent down to check the woman's breath. She was alive, just heavily injured. Questioning her would be impossible for now.

Lu Qingwan muttered with frustration, "If only my space laboratory were still here, I could wake you up in minutes."

As soon as she finished murmuring, a pharmacy appeared before her eyes. Rows of Western medicines were neatly arranged on shelves, with a surgical table and an office desk in the center – familiar sights. It was her space laboratory!

Lu Qingwan was so thrilled she almost cried out. She instinctively grabbed a box of anti-inflammatory medicine, and the tangible sensation in her hand made her pause. This space laboratory was something she had stumbled upon. The pharmacy would produce different medicines and treatments based on her current needs. However, she had always needed to retrieve them with her thoughts, and they would only become real once she left the laboratory. But this tactile sensation felt as if she had directly picked the medicine from the shelf.

Disbelieving, she reached for another box of medicine. It still felt real. Lu Qingwan dared not take too much, so she grabbed two items urgently needed to save the woman. She withdrew her consciousness from the space laboratory and saw the two boxes in her palm transform into ancient-looking jade bottles. Even the names of the medicines had changed to commonly used ancient terms: Zhixuesan (hemostatic powder) and Guyuandan (essence-preserving pill).

"It even adapts to the local customs?" Lu Qingwan was so shocked she doubted her own existence. She entered the space laboratory again and took out a purely Western medicine, then withdrew. As expected, it transformed into a more easily accepted ancient remedy, with "Xiaoyan Wan" (anti-inflammatory pills) written on the bottle.

Confirming her suspicion, Lu Qingwan remained stunned. Just now, it seemed, she had completely entered the space laboratory. The sudden appearance of a living person might have terrified Yue'er. She quickly looked over and saw Yue'er standing there with a vacant stare, oblivious to what had happened. She hadn't expected that after transmigrating, her space laboratory would have defense functions!

Lu Qingwan found the idea of a living person entering the space laboratory rather unbelievable. She tried to move the sacks in the carriage into the laboratory. With a slight shift of her consciousness, the sacks appeared inside. It actually worked! Lu Qingwan was so overjoyed she could hardly believe it. She ran to the carriage and saw that the sacks were gone. Only then did she confirm that the space laboratory could not only produce medicines but also store items.

Withdrawing her consciousness, Lu Qingwan gave the unconscious woman a few pills and Yue'er also came back to her senses. Seeing Lu Qingwan tending to the black-clothed woman, she exclaimed, "Miss, why are you saving her?" The defensive function of the space laboratory had receded, and Yue'er had no memory of the blank period.

Lu Qingwan, now calm and composed, said with a serene expression, "We don't even know where we are, and we can't leave the city. If we don't save this person, how can we go back?"

Yue'er was terrified. "But... we don't know who she is. What if she repays kindness with enmity?" They had saved this woman's life, but they had also hit her with a brick! What if this woman held a grudge? If so many black-clothed men couldn't kill her, this woman looked very powerful. Her own life was surely forfeit, *sob sob sob*.

Lu Qingwan saw through Yue'er's worries and chuckled wryly. "Don't worry. With her injuries, even if she wakes up, she'll be bedridden for at least three to five months. She won't be able to trouble us."

"Oh, okay." Yue'er felt reassured. "But, Miss, when did you learn to treat illnesses? You seem so skilled!" As she spoke, Lu Qingwan had already torn off a corner of the woman's inner garment to bandage her wounds.

Hearing Yue'er, Lu Qingwan's hands paused as she tied the knot. She then said with a hint of sadness, "Necessity breeds invention. These injuries are much like the ones I used to sustain." The original host's memories indicated that Madam Lan and her daughter had not only plotted against her in secret but were also cruel to her in person. Whenever they were in a bad mood, they would beat her. Afterward, fearing discovery, they forbade her from seeing a doctor. To protect herself, the original host had learned basic bandaging techniques and some knowledge of medication. She had even almost died from poisoning due to using the wrong medicine. After finally surviving, Madam Lan, thinking the original host was faking death to scare her, had beaten her severely again.

Thinking of this, Lu Qingwan's eyes turned cold. "Lan Yuru, Lu Siwan, since I'm still alive, it's time for you to pay for your blood debt with your own!"

Yue'er inexplicably felt a chill and blamed herself. "It's all my fault for being so incompetent, unable to protect Miss..."

"This isn't your fault. I was too cowardly. From now on, we won't be bullied anymore." The original host was indeed timid, afraid to report being bullied, which was why she suffered increasingly.

Yue'er wanted to say more, but Lu Qingwan didn't give her the chance. She turned to the black-clothed woman, who was slowly waking up, and asked, "You're awake. Can you drive?"

Woman: "..." I'm still injured, why are you asking if I can drive?

Lu Qingwan said righteously, "I saved you, and I've examined your body. With your current condition, driving should be no problem. I saved your life, and you'll take me home. You're getting off easy!"

The woman looked speechless. "If I heard correctly, your carriage is already broken."

"That's fine, you still have a carriage, don't you?" Lu Qingwan pointed behind her at the small courtyard. "Don't tell me you don't have one. I heard the sound of a horse kicking. And the steps at the entrance are built like that. If you say you don't have a carriage, do you think I'd believe you?" It was late at night, and the door around the corner was open, clearly indicating this was the woman's residence. Lu Qingwan wasn't necessarily trying to return to the Marquis's manor tonight; she simply wanted a place to rest for the night, at least to avoid being caught by that scoundrel twice in one night. That would be too embarrassing!
