Chapter 98: Chapter 98: All Are One Family
Lily doesn’t care about Sophie Wilson, she even dislikes her, but when it comes to her own daughter, she truly adores her.
Seeing Grace Wilson like this, Lily’s heart softened, "Alright, since your sister pleaded, you can stay."
The seemingly gracious words filled Sophie with intense mocking laughter inside.
They might find it acceptable, but she certainly doesn’t.
Did they really think she was some temperless pushover that anyone could manipulate at will?
"I’ve decided to learn from my sister and be a filial good child," Sophie looked sincerely at Lily, "I’ve decided I should just leave, so as not to upset you."
"You..." Lily was furious and cursed, "You ungrateful brat..."
"What’s the commotion?" Stephen Wilson, coming downstairs after hearing the noise, sternly interrupted, cutting off Lily’s unfinished curse.
"Dad, it’s nothing. Mom told me to get lost, so I’m preparing to leave," Sophie said with a cheerful smile, causing all three in the room to have darkened expressions.
Lily was furious, Grace Wilson was blaming Sophie for being inconsiderate, while Stephen had a much more complicated emotion, glaring fiercely at Lily, scolding, "The child finally comes home, and you start arguing with her right away?"
"Is it me who wants to argue?" Lily felt extremely wronged and pointed at Sophie accusingly, "She comes home without even saying hello, shouldn’t I say something?"
Stephen frowned and waved his hand, "Alright, it’s not a big deal, don’t hold onto it."
Stephen’s obvious favoritism annoyed Lily, just as she was about to retort, Grace interrupted, "Mom, maybe my sister didn’t see, don’t quarrel with her, okay?"
"Sister has been busy with company matters lately, she’s been really exhausted," Grace subtly reminded Lily of the purpose of having Sophie come back.
Don’t ruin the big plan they had prepared just for a moment of satisfaction.
Only then did Lily realize and nodded slightly, "Alright, maybe I was a bit quick-tempered."
She knew well why Grace wanted Sophie back.
Sophie had overshadowed her daughter in company affairs. Her daughter mentioned that this time Sophie returned, they had a way to bring her newly elevated status crashing down.
With Grace at work, Lily was reassured, this is why she restrained herself from further chastising Sophie.
Grace’s matters were more urgent.
"Alright, we are all family, why so many issues?" Stephen began to resolve the situation again, only this time, somewhat leaning towards Sophie.
"Sophie, don’t just stand there, come have a seat," Stephen cheerfully invited Sophie, "You’ve worked so hard lately, we should have lunch at home to make it up to you, look at you, you’ve lost weight from exhaustion."
"No need, I’ve already made plans for lunch," Sophie replied with a smile.
She worried that after all the fuss, they wouldn’t have the desire for her to stay for lunch anyway.
"Sophie, did you make plans with Lucy?" Grace asked nonchalantly.
"Who is this Lucy? Are they more important than family?" Lily couldn’t help but jab, regretting it afterward and casting an uneasy glance at Grace, fearing she had disrupted her daughter’s plans.
Fortunately, Grace understood Lily’s temperament well, and the purpose of her words was to lead to what followed — to push Sophie step by step into the mud.
