Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Of Course, It Must Be Implemented
Eva?
Sophie Wilson laughed, she’s still at it, huh.
"Yeah, I’m so wise, as soon as I saw Sophie Wilson, I knew she wasn’t any good!" Lucas Payten boasted.
"If she hadn’t bewitched me back then, why would I have liked her? Luckily, I woke up in time."
"She’s really good at bewitching people, probably inherited it from her homewrecker mother," Eva said something rather nasty, and some of the surrounding employees couldn’t take it and spoke up, "Eva, this is the company, you’re not one of us, you’d better leave."
"So what if it’s the company? It’s lunchtime now, why can’t I come? Why can’t I come to see my boyfriend?" Eva confidently retorted.
"Oh, so it’s okay for Sophie’s boyfriend to come see her, but not for me to see mine? No wonder she’s the daughter of a homewrecker, her power to bewitch people is really something."
Eva’s words made the colleagues who had earlier defended Sophie unable to say a word.
The more he spoke, the more damage it did to Sophie’s reputation, didn’t it?
"Let’s go, Lucas, let’s go have lunch." Eva, having left people speechless, proudly raised her chin, took Lucas Payten’s arm, and was about to head out.
Turning around, Eva saw the person standing by the door, instinctively took a sharp breath, then, remembering Sophie Wilson’s status, regained her confidence.
"Oh... Sophie, you actually have the nerve to come to the company." Eva sneered mockingly.
Sophie Wilson laughed, "Whether I come or not, what’s it to you?"
"But you, you’re not a company employee, coming here isn’t quite right." Sophie’s words made Eva scoff, "I’m here to see my boyfriend, what’s wrong with that?"
"Yeah, Eva’s here to see me, what’s wrong with that?" Lucas Payten confidently challenged Sophie.
Back then, when he pursued Sophie Wilson, she didn’t respond to him at all, which left him feeling humiliated, and he had been holding it in.
Now that he knew about Sophie Wilson’s background, he was naturally eager to seize the opportunity to kick someone while they were down.
"Of course it’s not okay because you’re no longer an employee of the company." Sophie’s cheerful words made Lucas Payten pause.
Eva was not afraid of Sophie and loudly questioned, "What gives you the right to say Lucas is no longer an employee? Who do you think you are? An illegitimate daughter of a homewrecker, you’ve got some nerve bossing around!"
"Has the real lady of the house said anything yet?"
Eva’s loud insults made Sophie just smile at her.
Just then, Lucy Wells, who had gone out to buy something, heard the commotion and hurried over, unable to help but shout, "Eva, what are you doing?"
"What am I doing? Can’t I just speak the truth?" Eva huffed, rolling her eyes at Lucy Wells, "Lucy, even if you want to cling to the big shot, shouldn’t you pick a normal one? This one’s unreliable."
"Sophie is my friend, and I won’t allow you to talk about her like that!" Lucy Wells was firm in standing by Sophie Wilson.
"Catherine Carter, prepare Lucas Payten’s termination paperwork and arrange his final paycheck as per company regulations." The familiar voice that suddenly appeared startled Eva, who turned to see Edward Palmer, unexpectedly appearing at the door with a stern face, and muttered, "Uncle."
"Uncle, why are you so biased towards Sophie Wilson? She..."
Edward Palmer didn’t bother to listen to Eva’s complaints, maintaining a stern face, and said, "It’s not bias, but the company owner wants to terminate him, and as the manager of a branch, I have to execute it."
