It was obvious to anyone that he was someone not to be trifled with. This was why the Lin patriarch had immediately conceded. Yet, his son and daughter were still trying to provoke Zhou Yu with their gazes. Did they wish to hasten their own demise?
"There's no need to come to our home to apologize. You will apologize now!" Zhou Yu said with a half-smile. Did he not see through the Lin patriarch's intentions? It was merely a pretext to visit and apologize, to try and forge a connection and gauge his strength. If he discovered that Zhou Yu's backing wasn't strong, the Lin patriarch would retaliate. If he found out Zhou Yu's family was indeed formidable, then the Lin family would not lose out; using an apology as an excuse, they could close the distance and perhaps even foster good relations!
Perhaps in the past, Zhou Yu might not have been able to see through it. But now, having been out for some time, surrounded by people like Lin Weidong, he could easily discern the Lin patriarch's simple intentions.
The Lin patriarch's scheme fell through, and his face showed some embarrassment. He nodded repeatedly, agreeing with Zhou Yu. Then, he slapped the girl's back and berated her, "Did you hear that? Apologize quickly!"
The girl looked utterly wronged. Her mind was still reeling, unable to comprehend why her father's attitude had changed so drastically! Although the girl was resentful towards Zhou Yu, she dared not anger the Lin patriarch. She could only respectfully apologize to Zhou Yu and Su Yuyan.
After the apology, the Lin patriarch rubbed his hands together and looked at Zhou Yu. "Sir, is this acceptable?"
"If you feel the sincerity is not enough, we can prepare further compensation now..."
Seeing that the Lin patriarch was about to continue, Zhou Yu interrupted him directly. *Hmph.* Zhou Yu had no intention of befriending such a person. "Alright, since you've apologized, let's go." Zhou Yu said to Zhu Ling'er and Su Yuyan. Having had their fill of satisfaction, they happily agreed.
"Zhou Yu, didn't you see the Lin family's faces? They looked worse than if they had eaten shit!" Zhu Ling'er giggled, like a dove.
Zhou Yu's face darkened. He straightened his expression. "Ling'er, can you speak a bit more elegantly? Always talking about excrement and urine, it's not appropriate!"
Zhu Ling'er didn't care. She raised her chin, her small face full of smugness. "I won't! No one here knows me anyway!" Zhu Ling'er's nature was to love freedom. Her usual behavior was a testament to this. However, as the esteemed daughter of the Zhu family and the sole heiress, Zhu Ling'er had to constantly maintain her composure in Jiangnan City for the sake of the family's reputation, lest she tarnish their name. "Hehe." Zhu Ling'er giggled, looking a bit silly. Su Yuyan, standing beside her, showed a hint of envy. She had known Zhou Yu longer and had registered their marriage first. Yet, the way she interacted with Zhou Yu was not as natural as Zhou Yu's interactions with Zhu Ling'er. Seeing their demeanor, although they didn't appear to be a couple, their relationship was very good! Thinking this, Su Yuyan bit her lower lip and followed Zhu Ling'er into the car.
"Yuyan, why are you sitting in the back?"
"Come to the front passenger seat, otherwise you'll get motion sickness." Zhou Yu called out when he noticed Su Yuyan's action. Su Yuyan paused for a moment, then nodded and switched seats. As Zhou Yu drove, Su Yuyan couldn't help but look at Zhou Yu's profile repeatedly, feeling a flutter of delight in her heart! Zhou Yu actually remembered she suffered from motion sickness...
The three quickly arrived at Yun Lan Tian Gong. Zhou Yu carried the large and small shopping bags and walked in first. The two women then followed, arm in arm. Just as Zhou Yu finished putting away the last batch of shopping bags, he saw Lin Weidong.
"Doctor Zhou, where were you today? I searched high and low for you!" Lin Weidong said with a hint of grievance. Heaven knows he had almost turned to stone waiting outside Zhou Yu's house!
Zhou Yu scratched his head. "I was accompanying Yuyan and the others, out shopping and buying clothes."
Lin Weidong rolled his eyes. "If you wanted to buy clothes, you could have just had the shop assistants bring them to your home for you to choose from." Many aristocratic families adhered to the principle of women not leaving their homes. Therefore, many luxury brands offered home delivery for clothing, bags, and jewelry for customers to choose from. Lin Weidong was referring to this.
However, Zhou Yu replied, "We went for high-end custom tailoring today, so that might not be possible."
High-end custom tailoring? Lin Weidong's interest was immediately piqued. "Which shop was it?"
"I forgot. When the clothes are ready and delivered in a couple of days, I'll wear them for you to see," Zhou Yu said with a smile.
