Chapter 74 The First Day of Clinic

After a few more casual chats, Zhou Xuemeng finally left the hospital room.

Lying on the hospital bed, Sun Xiao, for some unknown reason, kept seeing the image of Chen Fan carrying her into the hospital every time she closed her eyes.

"What's wrong with me?" Sun Xiao found her face flushing. She had never experienced such a feeling before, and it made her feel restless all over.

After leaving the hospital, Chen Fan drove to Cui Jie's building. After administering acupuncture to Xiao Ling'er, he returned to the psychiatric hospital.

As he passed by the first consultation room of the psychiatry department, Qin Shuran happened to be coming out.

However, Qin Shuran was clearly still angry. Seeing Chen Fan was like seeing air, and she walked right past him.

Chen Fan looked helpless, thinking he would have to wait until Qin Shuran calmed down to explain things properly to her.

This continued until he got off work the next morning.

Chen Fan went to Qin Shuran's consultation room, wanting to see if Qin Shuran had calmed down.

But upon arriving at the first consultation room, Chen Fan discovered that Qin Shuran had already gone home.

Thinking that there was only one bed at home and that Qin Shuran was surely still angry, Chen Fan decided to take the day off and go to Longgang Hospital to see patients.

Since Chen Fan had used the muscle-enhancing cream, his fatigue had significantly decreased. He could stay up for a day and a night without any issues.

He sent a text message to Zhou Xuemeng, informing her that he would be seeing patients at Longgang Hospital, and then drove towards Longgang Hospital.

Upon receiving Chen Fan's message, Zhou Xuemeng excitedly opened Chen Fan's private consultation room and even put up the sign for specialist consultations.

The news that Longgang Hospital's comprehensive surgery specialist consultation was opening quickly spread throughout the hospital.

Many doctors and nurses also specifically passed by Chen Fan's consultation room, wanting to see who this highly paid external expert was, as they had never heard of Chen Fan.

Just as Chen Fan sat down in his chair, waiting for his first patient at Longgang Hospital, a middle-aged doctor in a white coat walked in.

"Director Zou," Zhou Xuemeng greeted him immediately upon seeing the newcomer.

The person who arrived was Zou Wei, the Director of Surgery at Longgang Hospital.

Zou Wei nodded slightly, glanced at Chen Fan, and asked Zhou Xuemeng, "I heard the hospital director has hired an external surgical expert to see patients today. Has that expert arrived?"

Zhou Xuemeng quickly replied, "Director Zou, this is Dr. Chen, the external surgical expert hired by the director."

Upon hearing Zhou Xuemeng's answer, Zou Wei's brow furrowed. His gaze fell on Chen Fan again, his face filled with disbelief. "What did you say? You said he is the external surgical expert hired by the director?"

Zhou Xuemeng nodded, "Yes, Director Zou, this is Dr. Chen Fan."

"Nonsense! Has the director gone mad, hiring such a young doctor to be a specialist consultant?! This is simply ruining the reputation of our hospital's surgery department!" Zou Wei rebuked angrily.

Chen Fan looked at most in his early twenties, barely out of university. How could he possibly be a surgical expert!

Quite a few doctors and nurses had also gathered outside the door at this time.

When they learned that this young doctor was the so-called expert, they were equally incredulous.

"This kid is so young, he's probably just graduated from university. How can he be an expert?"

"Is he perhaps a graduate from a prestigious medical university?"

"Even so, he shouldn't be using the title 'expert.' Our Director Zou Wei is a doctoral graduate from a top medical university, and he hasn't even used the term 'specialist consultation' yet. That kid truly doesn't know his place!"

"Fortunately, our Director Zou discovered this in time. If someone had come to see a doctor, they would have been laughed out of the hospital."

"Exactly, he's so young, how can he be an expert!"

The murmurs from outside the door also reached the consultation room. Zhou Xuemeng's brows furrowed slightly, and just as she was about to retort, a middle-aged woman carrying a child pushed through the crowd in a panic.

"Doctor, doctor! My child's arm is fractured." The middle-aged woman stopped in front of Zou Wei, frantically explaining the child's condition.

The weather was very hot that day. The middle-aged woman had been holding her child, her messy hair damp with sweat, looking extremely disheveled.

The child's face was also covered in tear stains, his eyes red, clearly having cried recently.

"For this situation, you need to go to the orthopedics department. Get an X-ray first," Zou Wei replied.

The middle-aged woman said impatiently, "Orthopedics? The nurse downstairs just said you have a comprehensive surgery specialist consultation here, and an expert surgeon can also treat fractures. I paid so much for the registration fee, and now you're telling me to go to orthopedics? What do you mean by this!"

Anxious to save her child, the middle-aged woman's face was filled with anger.

Zou Wei's expression was not much better. He explained to the middle-aged woman, "I'm sorry, we..."

"Let me see the child. It's not a fracture, it's a dislocation," before Zou Wei could finish speaking, Chen Fan stood up from his chair and walked towards the mother and child.

Zou Wei frowned and looked at Chen Fan. He wasn't even sure if it was a dislocation, and Chen Fan dared to make a definitive diagnosis without even examining it. In his opinion, Chen Fan was definitely talking nonsense.

However, Zou Wei didn't rush to expose Chen Fan. He could use this opportunity to get rid of this young "surgical expert."

"You, can you see?" The middle-aged woman was a little skeptical seeing how young Chen Fan was.

Zou Wei explained again, "He is the external surgical expert hired by our hospital, Dr. Chen Fan. His medical skills are very high. For fractures or dislocations like this, Dr. Chen can certainly handle it."

Zou Wei didn't expose Chen Fan; instead, he praised him.

The doctors and nurses outside the door looked confused.

"What's going on with Director Zou? Why is he speaking up for that doctor?"

"Exactly, didn't Director Zou just question Dr. Chen earlier?"

"You guys don't understand. This is called 'setting someone up for a fall.' The higher they praise him now, the harder he'll fall when he can't treat the patient later!"

"So that's how it is."

Everyone suddenly understood.

However, none of them felt any pity for Chen Fan. After all, who would believe such a young expert? They all felt that Chen Fan must have used some means to deceive the director, thus getting the director to open a specialist consultation for him.

"He, he's an expert?" The middle-aged woman was stunned, looking at Chen Fan in front of her with a bewildered expression.

Seeing this, Zou Wei showed a mocking cold smile. This was the effect he wanted.

"Little friend, how old are you? Can you shake Uncle's hand? Good children shake hands." Chen Fan ignored the surrounding voices and smiled at the child.

The child looked wronged. His arm couldn't exert any strength.

Chen Fan continued, "Can't you use your arm? Then Uncle will help you lift your arm to shake hands, okay?"

The child nodded.

Chen Fan placed his hand on the child's elbow, took the child's hand, and placed it in his own.

"There, you're the best child." Saying this, Chen Fan released his arm and returned to his chair to sit down, leaving everyone dumbfounded.

"Your child's arm is fine now. You can go back," Chen Fan said to the middle-aged woman.

"What? It's fine?!"
