Chapter 434 Return to the Capital with Me

"I don't know," Chen Fan shook his head, also puzzled.

Judging by Long Yinglan's reaction just now, it wasn't her who did this either.

If it wasn't Long Yinglan, nor Da Xiong, then who could it be?

"Brother Fan, that kid was so arrogant, he must have had many enemies. Maybe one of them found him," Da Xiong said on the phone.

Da Xiong had seen his fair share of revenge incidents in the underground world, and he himself had plenty of enemies.

"Mm, let's leave it at that for now. I'll head back to the hospital first. We'll have a few drinks another day."

"Sure, Brother Fan. Just call me when you get here."

With that, they hung up.

The death of Long Hanshen left Chen Fan with a lingering sense of unease.

Who was Long Hanshen? He was a scion of a prominent family, with a special status. Even if he had enemies, they wouldn't necessarily choose to act in Jiangcheng.

Moreover, killing Long Hanshen would surely lead to a thorough investigation by the Long family. It would bring no benefit to the perpetrator.

He couldn't figure out who would want to kill Long Hanshen, and with a gunshot at that. This matter had escalated significantly.

However, this situation had both pros and cons for Chen Fan. The advantage was that Changteng Pharmaceutical was now leaderless, and they wouldn't be able to plot against Changsheng. The disadvantage was that the Long family would undoubtedly launch a full investigation. Why Long Hanshen came to Jiangcheng, and why he was injured, would eventually lead back to him.

He glanced at Long Yinglan's villa again. Chen Fan made a silent resolution to grow stronger quickly. After all, Long Yinglan couldn't protect him forever, especially when he was in conflict with the Long family. Long Yinglan would be unable to help him then.

Chen Fan started his car and drove away from the villa complex, heading towards the psychiatric hospital.

Seeing Chen Fan's car leave, Long Yinglan, who was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window of the villa, turned away and picked up her phone to make a call.

A moment later, the call was connected.

"Long Hanshen is dead. The plan might need to be moved up."

"Understood. I'll bring him back as soon as possible."

After a brief exchange, Long Yinglan hung up. Her gaze, however, remained fixed on a framed photo of herself and her second sister on the living room wall.

Then, Long Yinglan dialed Chen Fan's number again.

"Xiao Fan, next week, take some time to come back to Kyoto with me to see your mother." Long Yinglan's voice came through the phone.

Chen Fan's expression shifted to one of surprise, almost disbelief. He asked, "Aunt Long, are you serious? I can really see my mother?"

"Saturday morning, eight o'clock, wait for me at the airport."

"Okay, Aunt Long, I'll be there on time!" Hearing Long Yinglan's words, Chen Fan couldn't contain his excitement.

After more than twenty years, he would finally be able to see his mother. For a child who had grown up without maternal love, this was an incredibly moving prospect.

With only a few days left, Chen Fan had already made his plans.

He would work at Longgang Hospital tomorrow. The day after, Chen Fan wanted to take leave and return to his hometown with Qin Shuran. He wanted to tell his grandmother the news in person. If his grandmother knew he was about to see his mother, she would surely be overjoyed.

When Chen Fan arrived at the hospital, he noticed several extra cars parked in his designated parking spot.

However, he was in a good mood today and didn't bother to dwell on such matters, parking his car to the side.

"Master," Chen Fan had just gotten out of his car when Luo Xixi, holding her phone, ran towards him.

"What's wrong?" Chen Fan glanced at his nominal disciple.

"Why are you so late? I was just about to call you." Luo Xixi seemed a little displeased.

She then added, "Could it be that you're afraid of offending my dad after what you said last night, and that's why you're avoiding him? You didn't seem timid when you said those things last night."

Chen Fan was taken aback, a hint of surprise in his voice, "My dad knows about last night?"

"It was live-streamed, of course he knows. I was watching the screen the whole time," Luo Xixi replied.

"Ahem, ahem!" Chen Fan really hadn't known about the live broadcast last night. He coughed dryly and asked, "Did your dad say anything?"

"Guess?" Luo Xixi deliberately played coy.

Chen Fan couldn't be bothered to guess. He knew that Director Luo wouldn't be so petty as to hold a grudge against him. He immediately changed the subject, "What were you rushing for just now? Is something wrong?"

Mentioning this, Luo Xixi slapped her forehead and said, "I almost forgot the main thing. Someone from the Third Hospital is here!"

"The Third Hospital? What are they doing at our psychiatric hospital?" Chen Fan asked, confused.

"To cause trouble, of course."

"Just now, my dad received a call from the vice-director of the Third Hospital, saying that their hospital's rescue efforts last time were far inferior to ours. So, they're sending their surgical team to our hospital for a learning exchange."

"Before my dad could even refuse, people from the Third Hospital had already arrived at our hospital, leaving him no choice but to accept."

Hearing Luo Xixi's explanation, Chen Fan's brow furrowed slightly. He glanced at the extra cars, realizing that they likely belonged to those doctors from the Third Hospital.

Luo Xixi continued to complain with displeasure, "They call it an exchange, but they don't look like they're here to learn at all! The one leading them is their head of surgery. He's bossing everyone around, saying this is wrong and that's not done well. He even reprimanded Dr. Zheng for a long time. If you didn't know better, you'd think he was the head of surgery at our hospital!"

"Where are they?" Chen Fan asked.

"They're in the ward. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I slipped out to call you."

"Let's go to the ward," Chen Fan nodded and headed towards the inpatient department.

"I'll go get your white coat for you." With that, Luo Xixi, her face beaming with excitement, ran towards the consultation room.

She knew that as long as Chen Fan was back, the psychiatric hospital's reputation would be restored.

"The trash cans in the hospital wards need to be emptied promptly. This is a surgical ward, not a psychiatric ward. Aren't you afraid of patient infections?"

"And in this day and age, why are inpatient ward patients still using ordinary infusion needles? Why not indwelling needles? How can patients endure being pricked multiple times a day?"

"These patients require daily nursing care. With the conditions at your hospital, can you achieve that?"

In the ward, a middle-aged man at the forefront, with his head held high and a frown on his face, questioned Zheng Hairong with disdain.

"Dr. Zheng, although you are no longer a doctor at our Third Hospital, there are some things I must point out. Why haven't these patients been categorized? Orthopedic and cancer patients are housed together. What are you doing? Back at the Third Hospital, did you learn nothing from your years of experience?!"

Although Zheng Hairong's face was grim, he could only endure it, as he was currently just an ordinary doctor.

The doctors standing behind Zheng Hairong, however, glared at the other party with unconcealed resentment.

"Oh, isn't this Director Fan? What, are you here to guide work at our psychiatric hospital?" Just as Fan Yecheng finished his lecture and reprimand, a familiar voice suddenly rang out from outside the door.
