"Director Chen!" Several medical staff standing outside the door respectfully addressed the figure at the doorway.
The person was none other than Chen Fan, the director of surgery at the psychiatric hospital.
Zhang Wei glanced at Chen Fan. "Who are you?"
Chen Fan walked into the consultation room. "You're standing in my consultation room, harassing my nurse. Who do you think I am?"
Zhang Wei's expression turned displeased. "Kid, watch your mouth. I'm here to see my girlfriend, is that harassment?"
"Director Chen, he's not my boyfriend. He's just a blind date my mom set up. I don't want to date him, but he's been pestering me relentlessly," Zhao Qianqian said, seeing Chen Fan as if he were a savior. She quickly stood behind him.
Chen Fan looked at Zhang Wei again. "Did you hear that? She said she's not your girlfriend. Please leave now, or don't blame me for being impolite."
Zhang Wei looked at Zhao Qianqian, who was hiding behind Chen Fan, and questioned her coldly, "Are you two involved? Why do I feel your relationship is unusual?"
Zhao Qianqian's face instantly turned red with shame as she retorted, "You're talking nonsense. Director Chen is our department head. I'm a nurse in his department. We're just colleagues."
Zhang Wei sneered and threw the flowers in his hand on the ground. "Heh, Zhao Qianqian, do you think anyone believes what you're saying? If you weren't involved, would you be hiding behind him?"
"So, you don't want to date me because you're involved with this kid. Your mom also told me you've never had a boyfriend. Damn it, it seems like you and your mom colluded to trick me."
Zhao Qianqian was filled with indignant shame. "Don't you dare slander me here! Director Chen and I are just colleagues, and what business is it of yours whether I have a boyfriend? I never intended to be your girlfriend!"
"Director? Heh, him? He's your department head?" Zhang Wei sneered, hearing Zhao Qianqian mention the word "director" again.
He then sarcastically added, "It seems this psychiatric hospital of yours isn't that great either. Hiring a young kid as director. The psychiatric hospital's ways are truly unique."
Zhao Qianqian couldn't tolerate Zhang Wei insulting Chen Fan and angrily pointed towards the door. "Get out!"
Seeing Zhao Qianqian's embarrassed fury, Zhang Wei sneered, "What? You're embarrassed because I spoke the truth? A psychiatric hospital running a surgery consultation room is truly a historical oddity."
"It seems you didn't hear me clearly," a hint of coldness flashed in Chen Fan's eyes.
Zhang Wei looked at Chen Fan mockingly. "Oh, Director Chen, are you planning to make a move? I forgot to introduce myself. I'm a lawyer from the City Bar Association. If you want to make a move, you can try. I can guarantee Director Chen will get at least three years."
Facing Zhang Wei's threat, Chen Fan smiled calmly. "Are you threatening me?"
"No, no, I'm not threatening you. I just want Director Chen to know that you can't afford to offend me," Zhang Wei said, raising his eyebrows triumphantly with an arrogant expression.
However, at that moment, a young male doctor in a white coat rushed over in a panic. "Director Chen, a patient in shock has arrived at the hospital. Please come quickly. We can't figure out the cause."
Upon hearing about a patient, Chen Fan naturally wouldn't waste more time with Zhang Wei. He put on his white coat, and with Zhao Qianqian, followed the male doctor out.
Zhang Wei, standing in the consultation room, scoffed. "There are really people who aren't afraid of death, daring to send patients to this psychiatric hospital. Are they crazy?"
However, a smile then curved Zhang Wei's lips, and he followed them.
Psychiatric Hospital Consultation Room.
Since the psychiatric hospital had not yet been renamed the Sixth Hospital, it was not qualified to establish an emergency ward.
A twenty-year-old girl lay on the hospital bed, her mouth slightly open, her eyes vacant, and her face pale.
Zheng Hairong frowned slightly, observing the vital signs on the monitor, and fell into deep thought.
The male doctor beside him asked curiously, "That's strange. Her blood pressure and heart rate are all normal, so why is she in shock?"
Everyone looked perplexed.
"Doctor, what's wrong with my daughter? She was fine just now. She just washed her hair in the yard, then started vomiting. I helped her to the living room, and she lost consciousness," a middle-aged couple beside the bed asked anxiously.
Zheng Hairong asked, "Did the child eat anything?"
"She didn't eat much. Just normal meals, nothing special," the middle-aged man replied.
The middle-aged woman, leaning into her husband's embrace, was already sobbing uncontrollably.
They had only one daughter, who had finally gotten into university. They thought good days were coming, but they never expected to encounter such a situation.
"Did she take any medication?" Zheng Hairong asked again.
Because the girl's vital signs were very stable, it didn't seem like an acute illness. Zheng Hairong suspected she might have taken some medication.
"No," the middle-aged man shook his head again.
The female doctor beside him asked, "Is she dating anyone? Has she had any emotional problems recently, or have you had any arguments?"
"No, none of that. My daughter is usually very well-behaved and has never dated," the middle-aged man continued to shake his head in response.
This made Zheng Hairong and the others even more puzzled. No emotional problems, no medication, no poisoning, blood tests were normal, heart rate and blood pressure were normal. The person seemed to have no issues at all.
Yet, the girl was truly lying before them, even in a state of shock. This left Zheng Hairong somewhat at a loss.
"Has Director Chen arrived?" Zheng Hairong looked at the doctor beside him and asked.
"He should be here soon," the male doctor replied.
Just then, a group of people walked into the consultation room.
"Director Chen," Zheng Hairong quickly stepped forward.
After being reprimanded by Chen Fan yesterday, although Zheng Hairong was displeased and felt his pride hurt, he was still very confident in Chen Fan's medical skills.
If Chen Fan hadn't intervened in time, that patient might not have been saved.
"What's the patient's condition?" Chen Fan briefly examined the patient and asked Zheng Hairong.
"Shock, dilated pupils. The specific problem cannot be determined yet. Vital signs are stable. It doesn't look like an illness, but rather poisoning," Zheng Hairong stated his judgment.
Chen Fan took out a flashlight and looked at the girl's pupils. Indeed, they were dilated. He then held his breath and focused his gaze on the girl's body.
However, as Chen Fan looked at the girl's head, his brow furrowed tightly.
"Director Chen, have you found anything?" Zheng Hairong asked.
Seeing Chen Fan frown slightly, Zheng Hairong felt a little smug, thinking that Chen Fan wasn't some miracle doctor, and at least this girl's illness had no conclusion or solution, just like his own.
