Chapter 393 The Despair of Three

Gao Lang's gaze fell coldly on the door. "It seems if we can't cure this patient, we'll be staying here forever, is that it?"

Wang Jiming collapsed again, clenching his teeth as he punched the tabletop, then recoiled from the pain.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen, but I'm truly too scared. This is an impossible task! He will definitely kill us!"

Wang Jiming was engulfed in despair. He stopped looking at the case files, his body like an empty shell as he staggered to the sofa and sat down, having completely lost all hope.

Qin He looked at Li Fengrui and Gao Lang. "Can you two still hold on?"

Li Fengrui nodded. "No matter what, even if a miracle happens, I have to try. Otherwise, how can we get out of here?"

Gao Lang leaned closer to Qin He, lowering his voice. "Miss Qin, I think our chances of curing this patient are definitely lower than our chances of escaping."

Qin He nodded. "That's true, but I still want to try."

Even if the person lying there wasn't Shen Yilin, but any other patient, they, as doctors, should still have the compassion of healers.

"If we can save a life, that's a good thing too," Qin He said to Gao Lang. "If we can truly save someone with late-stage stomach cancer, isn't that another medical breakthrough? More importantly, if we try to escape, the danger is too great. Until the last resort, I think we should give it a try."

Gao Lang nodded heavily.

However, under such immense pressure, who could concentrate on studying these medical challenges?

For the rest of the time, Wang Jiming remained on the sofa, looking utterly dejected.

Only Li Fengrui, Qin He, and Gao Lang studied the case files until nightfall.

As darkness gradually descended, Qin He glanced out the window and sighed inwardly.

Their research that night yielded no results. Their chances of conquering advanced stomach cancer were practically zero.

Qin He comforted herself and then the others. "Let's go back to our rooms. I'll take you to see the patient tomorrow morning."

Leaving the office, Qin He returned to her bedroom and found someone there.

Shen Yizong was sitting by the low table in her room. Seeing Qin He return, Shen Yizong gestured to the paper and pen on the low table.

"Write it down. You've been researching all afternoon, so you should have a list of the medical equipment you need by now, right?"

Qin He walked over and wrote down all the necessary medical equipment. "Treating Yilin's illness requires a lot of medical equipment, and each piece is extremely expensive. My suggestion is to send Yilin to a hospital..."

Shen Yizong remained noncommittal. After Qin He finished writing, he simply took the paper. "Sending him to a hospital is less reliable than moving the hospital here. Only then can I be at ease."

Qin He frowned, what did he mean by that?

Shen Yizong looked at the list of equipment Qin He had written. "You know very well what we do. I've never even heard of some of this medical equipment, but a hospital should generally have it, right?"

His long, narrow eyes narrowed as he spoke, carrying a sharp, cold chill.

Qin He had an ominous premonition. "I can tell you where to buy this equipment and what procedures and qualifications are needed!"

Shen Yizong said indifferently, "No need. That would be taking the long way around and would delay things too much."

Qin He immediately became nervous. "Shen Yizong, you're not planning to steal from a hospital, are you?"

Shen Yizong smiled faintly, saying nothing, and turned to leave.

Qin He hurried to catch up. "Shen Yizong, if you dare to steal or rob, I will absolutely not agree! You, if you want my help, you'd better listen to me!"

An aura of threat permeated the air.

Shen Yizong's lips curled into a mocking smile. He turned to face Qin He. "Miss Qin, do you know the thing I hate most in this life is being threatened? If you don't cooperate, perhaps I should pick one of those three and kill them. Today, during your discussion, that person named Wang didn't participate much. A person like that, his life doesn't hold much meaning."

Qin He looked at his chilling gaze. Shen Yizong's tall figure moved closer, his tone almost playful, yet laced with murderous intent.

He was serious.

Qin He's scalp tingled. She hadn't seen any cameras in the office, so they must have been hidden. Shen Yizong had been monitoring them all along!

"No, you absolutely cannot touch Wang Jiming!" Qin He gritted her teeth.

Seeing his indifferent gaze, she could only soften her tone.

"I beg you, don't hurt any more innocent people."

Shen Yizong stared intently at Qin He for a few seconds before turning away. "Don't worry, I understand."

Did he agree?

Qin He felt a sense of doubt.

The next morning, Qin He took the three of them to Shen Yilin's room.

The three of them conducted a preliminary examination of Shen Yilin, but without the medical equipment, they couldn't conduct in-depth imaging studies.

Li Fengrui's expression was serious. "For now, we can only give him some targeted drugs to inhibit and treat the cancer cells. Yesterday, the date on the scan was from many days ago, and I don't know if the cancer cells have spread recently—"

Qin He's heart felt heavy.

Indeed, as Li Fengrui said, her biggest worry was that Shen Yilin's cancer cells had spread to his bones or nearby organs, in which case he would be truly beyond help!

After examining Shen Yilin's condition, the three of them went for breakfast.

Wang Jiming's hand trembled as he held his chopsticks. He had always been timid and afraid of death. Today, he hadn't spoken another word to Qin He.

Qin He knew that Wang Jiming must resent her for implicating them.

But for now, she had no other recourse.

In the afternoon, Shen Yizong procured various medical equipment from somewhere.

This villa had truly been turned into a small hospital by him. Qin He looked at the medical equipment from various cities, realizing the immense power of the organization "Lev."

Once the medical equipment was set up, Qin He inspected it. Much of the equipment was brand new, some still in its packaging.

She had worried that Shen Yizong would steal equipment from hospitals, but thankfully he hadn't. Otherwise, an attack by a terrorist organization would have caused casualties among the hospital staff!

Shen Yizong, perhaps fearing that Shen Yilin would discover something, kept him unconscious, only administering sedative and tranquilizer drugs at regular intervals.

His meals were either liquid or nutritional supplements.

Qin He worried that if this continued, Shen Yilin might suffer from malnutrition.

At three o'clock in the afternoon, in the central room on the third floor of the villa.

Erniang pushed the door open and saw the man standing by the floor-to-ceiling window. Shen Yizong stood there silently, lost in thought.
