Chapter 64 A Quiet Gift

Madam Gu’s eyes blazed with anger, and she returned to the bedroom, clenching her fists.

Qin He sat in the living room. Old Mrs. Gu comforted her, "He'er, don't worry. I still make the decisions in the Gu family. No one will dare to make things difficult for you from now on!"

Qin He felt a bit awkward. She wasn't part of the Gu family anymore. Mrs. Gu's kindness was truly beyond her ability to repay.

She glanced at Gu Qichen, who was sitting opposite her with his eyes downcast, appearing calm.

Qin He was slightly surprised. His beloved Song Nuan had been driven away, yet he could still sit so placidly?

He had even considered divorcing her over the "little green tea." Had he lost interest in her so quickly?

Although Song Nuan had made mistakes, his heart changed so swiftly. Was he perhaps a bit too cold-hearted?

As Qin He was pondering, she saw Gu Qichen look up at her.

Their eyes met. His dark pupils were deep and compelling. Her heart skipped a beat, and she averted her gaze.

The encounter had been unpleasant, and Qin He did not stay with Old Mrs. Gu until the afternoon. She left the Gu residence before dinner.

Gu Qichen saw her off outside the villa and watched as Qin He got into her car.

"I'm very sorry about what happened today."

Qin He was fastening her seatbelt. "It's fine. Anyway, it has nothing to do with me and your Gu family's affairs."

Gu Qichen pursed his lips. "Are you planning to return to the Qin family?"

"Mm, it's the weekend today," Qin He started the car. "I need to pick up Yi Lin first. I have a livestream tonight."

Shen Yilin?

Gu Qichen's gaze deepened. "Shen Yilin is at Qing University, right? I have some business to attend to near Qing University. Do you mind giving me a ride?"

Qin He really wanted to say yes, but the man had already opened the passenger door.

She pursed her lips. "I'm not your driver."

Despite her words, Qin He started the car.

Qingcheng is a coastal city. A section of the road leading to Qing University offers a view of the sea. The dazzling and magnificent sunset spilled into the car, and Qin He squinted her eyes contentedly.

She would have felt much more comfortable if there wasn't that extra person in the passenger seat.

As they neared Qing University, Qin He called Shen Yilin and asked him to wait at the school gate.

Shen Yilin's hearty voice came through, "Sister, I'm already at the school gate."

After hanging up, Qin He turned to Gu Qichen. "Where near Qing University do you need to go? I'll drop you off first."

Gu Qichen pondered for a few seconds. "Let's pick him up first. Don't keep him waiting."

As the car drove to the entrance of Qing University, he suddenly asked, "You've acknowledged Shen Yilin as your brother?"

"Something like that," Qin He had already spotted the figure not far away.

Shen Yilin, dressed in casual wear, stood out amidst the stream of people leaving the school.

Seeing the car, Shen Yilin hurried over.

He was about to open the passenger door when Gu Qichen rolled down the window.

Outside the car, Shen Yilin's expression froze. The man sat in the passenger seat, his perfectly sculpted profile exuding a cold aura.

Gu Qichen turned his head to look at him, his eyes icy and indifferent.

Shen Yilin's brows immediately furrowed. This is Sister's ex-husband! That scumbag!

Why was he with Sister? Had they rekindled their romance?

Qin He waved her hand. "Yilin, what are you spacing out for? Get in the car."

Shen Yilin got into the back seat, and she started the car.

"Gu Qichen, where are you going?"

Gu Qichen's thin lips pursed, and he uttered an address.

It was a well-known shopping mall near Qing University. Qin He was a little surprised but still drove him there.

Upon arriving in front of the mall, Gu Qichen had just gotten out of the car when Shen Yilin leaped out from the back seat and squeezed into the passenger seat.

Qin He didn't pay it any mind, assuming it was a child's preference for the front seat. She politely waved goodbye to Gu Qichen.

"Then we'll be leaving."

Gu Qichen's face turned cold as he stared at the "pretty boy" in the passenger seat, his voice like shards of ice. "Mm, thank you."

Qin He drove back to the Qin family residence.

Shen Yilin was in a good mood, sitting obediently in the passenger seat. He turned his head and looked at Qin He expectantly. "Sister, that was Mr. Gu just now, wasn't it? Why were you two together?"

Qin He was driving and said lazily, "Children shouldn't ask so many questions."

Currently, Qin Corporation and Gu Corporation were in deep cooperation due to the West City reconstruction project.

Qin He was polite and patient with business partners.

After arriving at the Qin residence, she quickly started her livestream.

Recently, it had been changed to a weekly broadcast, and the number of videos uploaded had decreased significantly, causing many viewers to urge her to post more.

Although Qin He livestreamed less frequently, she had a substantial backlog of videos. Her exquisite makeup skills had continuously increased her follower count.

After it was revealed that she was Ming Chi's cousin, many of Ming Chi's fans had also started following her.

Qin He successfully completed a makeup tutorial. After the livestream ended, Shen Yilin sat behind a nearby computer, helping her edit the livestream replay into short videos for the platform.

Qin He sat beside him, looking at her tablet.

On the tablet was the progress report for the recent reconstruction of the West City district.

She was halfway through reading when Shen Yilin finished editing. He quietly took a box out of his backpack and placed it on the vanity.

At 8:30 PM, Qin He had Shen Yilin eat dinner at the Qin residence before taking him back to Qing University.

When she returned home, she went to the study to retrieve her tablet and discovered a wrapped gift box.

It was a jewelry box.

Qin He raised an eyebrow. Her own jewelry was kept in the jewelry cabinet, so this clearly wasn't hers.

Since it was placed here, it must have been left by Shen Yilin.

She opened it to find a bracelet. The silver bracelet was twisted into two strands and had the marks of craftsmanship. Qin He smiled.

The little brother was quite cute, not daring to give the gift in person.

Qin He put the bracelet on her wrist and returned to her bedroom with her tablet.

...

The next day, after waking up and getting ready, Qin He went into the adjoining small study.

She checked the recent security footage of the Qin family residence and was relieved to confirm that everything was normal and no one had infiltrated the house.

She had to manage the company's affairs and invest significant effort in the West City project, so she couldn't afford to be careless about home security.

Going downstairs, Qin He saw the luggage in the living room.

Madam Qin and her assistant were standing in the living room, directing a maid to retrieve their belongings.

"Mom, are you going on vacation?" Qin He asked in surprise.

Madam Qin frowned. "Do I look like I'm going on vacation, rushing around like this? Your maternal grandmother is ill, and I need to go to Haicheng to see her."

Grandmother is ill?!

Qin He's expression turned serious. "What's wrong? Should I come too?"

"Never mind, it's just an old heart condition. I'll take care of it. You stay here and look after things, and the company."

Madam Qin left in a hurry after her assistant took the items from the maid.

Qin He saw her off and returned to the house to eat breakfast alone.

She had researched her grandmother's heart condition before. Surgery was not a solution, and the best approach was rest.

After worrying for a while, Qin He called her uncle in Haicheng to confirm that her grandmother's condition was stable, which eased her mind slightly.
