Chapter 69 Is Your IQ Fed to Dogs?

Nan Zhenting grabbed Ming Zicheng’s hand, “Where is that child?”

“Don’t you worry, Elder Nan. Once my senior sister wakes up, you can ask her yourself.”

Ming Zicheng patted his hand reassuringly. He couldn’t tell anyone about Lan Zixin. If his senior sister wanted to say something, she would tell Elder Nan.

Nan Xiangdong looked at the anxious Nan Zhenting and shook his head helplessly. The old man and his eldest son were indeed father and son!

With everything in such a critical state, both father and son were preoccupied with their women.

Chaochao and Mumu had heard enough. They held hands and went back upstairs.

In the children’s room, the two little ones whispered to each other for a while before holding hands and pushing open Lan Yuxi’s door.

In the dimly lit bedroom, Nan Xiao was still holding Lan Yuxi’s hand, murmuring about his longing for her over the years.

Hearing the sound, he turned around unhappily.

Chaochao’s expression was even worse than his. Although he knew Nan Xiao wasn’t a truly bad person, seeing him hold his mother’s hand and be so close to her while she was still unconscious made him uncomfortable.

Seeing the two children enter, Nan Xiao’s face softened. “I’m here to take care of your mother. You don’t need to worry. Go rest early.”

Mumu, instead of leaving, trotted to the bedside, grabbed the bedsheet with her little hands, and skillfully climbed onto the bed.

The little one sat on Lan Yuxi’s other side and looked at Nan Xiao, who was opposite her, asking, “Mom had needles inserted. Can you pull them out?”

Before Nan Xiao could speak, the little one continued, “You definitely can’t, but I can!”

The implication was that she would stay here to guard her mother.

Nan Xiao watched her with amusement, her little demeanor reminding him of Xi Bao when she was young.

“What are you smiling at?” Mumu pouted. Seeing her brother still standing there, she patted the spot next to her, “Come up! Didn’t we promise to protect Mom?”

Chaochao gave his sister a helpless look. How could she say such a thing in front of an outsider?

But he was afraid this outsider might bully his mother, so he took off his slippers and got on the bed.

Seeing her brother get on the bed, Mumu immediately snuggled closer to him.

Nan Xiao looked at the pair of little ones and moved to sit on Lan Yuxi’s other side. The three of them – one adult and two children – stared at each other.

“Does your mother often give herself acupuncture?” Nan Xiao broke the silence first.

Mumu snorted, “Isn’t it all because you made her angry!”

Nan Xiao’s lips twitched. “I won’t make her angry anymore.”

“Who knows if you’re lying.”

“You are welcome to supervise me in the future.”

Mumu tilted her little head and looked at her brother upon hearing this.

Chaochao looked up at Nan Xiao and said with a serious expression, “My mother doesn’t want to see you, so there is no future.”

“I have perseverance and willpower. Your mother will eventually change her mind about me.”

Nan Xiao looked at the two little ones. At this moment, he didn’t see them as children but as adults, engaging in an equal conversation like friends.

“I know you both have strong opinions about me. In the past, due to some misunderstandings, I hurt your mother. It wasn’t until today that I realized such a huge blunder caused me and your mother to be separated for four long years.”

“These four years, I haven’t lived well, and your mother hasn’t lived well either. But the only fortunate thing is that if your mother hadn’t left me, she wouldn’t have met you two.”

“Even though you don’t like me, I really like you. My liking isn’t just casual talk; it’s an inexplicable, heartfelt liking.”

“In the future, if I do anything wrong, I hope you will remind me anytime and help me become the kind of person you and your mother like.”

Chaochao listened intently and then pursed his lips. “Then I have something to remind you of right now.”

Nan Xiao nodded. “Okay, tell me.”

“You have too many women around you!”

Nan Xiao smiled helplessly. “Actually, from beginning to end, there has only ever been your mother in my heart. Xia Qianqian, who was rumored to be with me, and Yun Siyan, with whom I was once engaged, were both arranged by her to create rumors, and the latter was hired by me with money.”

Mumu pouted and asked, “What about Zhou Ruotong?”

She and her brother had already overheard downstairs about Xia Qianqian and Yun Siyan, and no one had mentioned Zhou Ruotong.

But in Mumu’s heart, Zhou Ruotong was like a thorn deeply embedded.

Nan Xiao glanced at the time. Seeing that half an hour had passed, he reached out and removed the silver needle from Lan Yuxi’s head. “Mumu, I’ll explain about Zhou Ruotong later. I think your mother would also like to hear my explanation.”

Seeing that he had removed the needle, Mumu and Chaochao crawled over, their faces filled with concern as they observed their mother.

Ten seconds later, Lan Yuxi slowly opened her eyes.

Mumu gently stroked her cheek and asked in a milky voice, “Mom, who am I?”

Lan Yuxi raised her hand and pinched her rosy cheek. “You are Chaochao!”

“Ah? It’s over! Mom has amnesia again!” Mumu hugged her mother’s neck with teary eyes. “Wuwu… Mom, how could you forget Mumu!”

Chaochao rubbed her little head with a helpless expression. “Mom is just teasing you! You can’t even tell that, has your IQ been fed to the dogs?”

Mumu’s crying stopped abruptly, and she glared at Lan Yuxi. “Bad mom!”

Lan Yuxi cupped her little head and kissed her forehead. “Silly girl!”

Nan Xiao watched their mother-daughter interaction, his heart warming.

In just a few years, his Xi Bao had transformed from a little girl into a mother.

And the scene at this moment was what he had often dreamed of; this was what a family should look like.

Nan Xiao leaned down and looked at Lan Yuxi, who was wiping Mumu’s tears. “Xi Bao, do you feel unwell anywhere?”

Lan Yuxi’s movements paused slightly. She had seen him the moment she opened her eyes, but she didn’t know how to face him, which was why she hadn’t looked at him until now.

“…No.” Lan Yuxi’s gaze flickered slightly, and she hugged Mumu, wanting to sit up.

Nan Xiao quickly reached out and put his arm around her shoulder, helping her to sit up.

Lan Yuxi’s body flinched as if electrocuted, and she instinctively tried to pull away from his hand.

A flicker of disappointment crossed Nan Xiao’s eyes. He picked up a pillow and placed it behind her waist, using the opportunity to let go of her.

Lan Yuxi glanced at him quickly. “Is there anything going on online?”

Nan Xiao stood by the bed, looking down at her slightly reddened earlobes. “I’ve been here guarding you. I’m not sure about what’s happening online.”

Lan Yuxi looked at Chaochao. “Baby, go down and see. If there’s any situation, help to handle it.”

Chaochao furrowed his little brows and said, “He hasn’t explained what’s going on with that woman yet. I’ll go down after he explains.”

Lan Yuxi looked at Nan Xiao suspiciously. “Which woman? How many women do you have?”
